The Hidden Hut, Portscatho

The Hidden Hut, Portscatho

Tucked away along the National Trust coastal path close to Portscatho and St Mawes, this lovely little spot is one of our favourite hidden cafés in Cornwall serving freshly cooked food – by day simple seaside fare (think pasties, ice cream and cakes), and by night on selected dates rustic feasts of the best local, seasonal produce.

If you’re staying or exploring the south coast around the Roseland Peninsula and Portscatho area, make sure to take time out to drop in on this little wonder. If it’s lunchtime, you can pick up gorgeous goodies to eat on the tables (all food and drinks are served to take away).

About three or four times a month, The Hidden Hut also hosts fabulous open-air feats which are rustic but brilliant ‘bring your own plate’ affairs and are truly unique. Previous feasts have included ‘Lobster and Chips’, ‘Mackerel Grill’, ‘Slow-roasted spring Lamb’ and ‘Sticky Ribs and Pulled Pork’. Although not licensed you can BYO alcohol, and you need to book as this is a ticketed event. It’s worth joining their mailing list so you’re first to know what’s going on.

Feast nights run from April until September and the main café season runs from the end of March to the end of October.
