Tucked away in the back streets of Newlyn, you’ll find a great little cinema, all red brick and metal. Step inside and you’ll find a haven for the silver screen; don’t expect big blockbusters and 25 screens – this is a fab little independent cinema with two screens showing the best in independent, quirky and cool films as well as ballet, theatre and opera performances.
Before settling in for your film, make sure to visit the café bar for a bite to eat; no popcorn here (the cinema itself is a rustle-free zone, so only drinks and ice cream allowed) rather a spot to enjoy lunch or dinner or coffee and cake. All food is made on site with all fresh produce coming from West Cornwall. If you’re lucky, you might catch a World Food Night, held in celebration of the films which are shown.
The Filmhouse and Café Bar are open every day at 10.30am, closing after the last film or event has been shown.
