Out & About

Experience the magic of West Cornwall, steeped in history and heritage, promising breath-takingly rugged landscapes and dramatic ocean scenes. Uncover sub-tropical gardens awash in colour, golden sandy beaches and famous landmarks that leave the world in awe, such as the Minack Theatre and St Michael’s Mount.

Whether you seek the solitude of a secluded sanctuary atop a Cornish cliff, a former fisherman’s cottage nestled on a quaint harbour front, or a grand getaway with uninterrupted sea views, find your dream retreat for every kind of staycation within our collection of luxury cottages in West Cornwall…

If you can tear yourself away from the luxury of your West Cornwall cottage, the region hosts copious eateries and farm shops ready to alleviate hunger pangs and treat your tongue to the most exquisite tastes imaginable. From fresh fish in Newlyn to Stargazey Pie in Mousehole, and from riverside feasts in Helford to ice cream at the Lizard, there is plenty to look forward to.

If you fancy a meal on the town, the foodie hub of Porthleven boasts an envy-inducing array of top-notch restaurants, including the excellent Kota Kai, the Square and Seadrift, and also hosts the annual Porthleven Food Festival. A dark horse in the foodie stakes, Penzance is well worth your attention too, home to an incredible selection of restaurants including the Shore and the Cornish Barn.

Of course, there are enough restaurants to fill holiday after holiday with gastronomical greatness, but if you feel like something a little tamer, a romantic stroll around Porthcurno with a delicious wrap of fish and chips or a twilight tasting session at your luxury retreat will hit just the spot.

Bars, public houses, cafés…you’re never far away from a place to sit back and enjoy a glass of bubbles or reviving hot drink. Indulge in the familiarity of an essentially British hot cup of tea or speciality coffee whilst you gaze out onto the Atlantic, be it at the majesty of St Michael’s Mount or after a surf lesson on one of the premier beaches. For your 15 minutes of fame, head down to the Lizard’s Polpeor Café and be the most southerly tea drinker in the country!

When the sun goes down, the bars open, and we don’t doubt you’ll have trouble choosing a sparkling number from Polgoon vineyard, an award-winning vineyard near Penzance. We highly recommend their sparkling elderflower cider. As brewing is an art form in West Cornwall you’re sure to find a bottle or pint to suit your tastes. In fact, Skinner’s Brewery make their fruity ‘Sennen’ ale available on draught every summer to celebrate the area and its surf credentials.

Whatever time of year you visit West Cornwall, there’s always something magical to experience: a tour around St Michael’s Mount, a visit to the artist’s paradise of St Ives, a dip in the Jubilee Pool… We could go on. A must-see, the Minack Theatre sits above the insanely beautiful Porthcurno. The incredible product of a lifetime’s work from Rowena Cade and her gardener Billy Rawlings, this world-famous theatre will leave you totally spellbound; catch a performance or simply sit and admire the jaw-dropping seascapes.

West Cornwall is also famed for its surf, and with surf schools offering group and bespoke lessons, you are guaranteed to have fun in the water whilst staying safe. Truly addictive, we’re sure you’ll keep going back for “just one more wave!’’. Later on, Christmas time sees Mousehole’s harbour lights cast a glow over the village; hold your loved ones close and enjoy the lantern procession of Tom Bawcock’s eve through the quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the ultimate luxury escape in one of our West Cornwall cottages.
