Living
This extraordinary home has lots of fabulous living areas, making it a wonderful home whether you want to congregate together or find your own peaceful space. At the centre of Velansaga lies the sumptuous sitting room, in deeply patinated woods, corniced ceilings and rich, earthy tones. With a gloriously huge wood burner at its centre, this is a wonderful place to gather at the end of a busy days' exploring.
At the furthest end is a bright and beautiful sunroom. Flooded with light, this is a lovely space for yoga or meditation, or simply a more peaceful and private spot to relax and read with French doors leading on to the second terrace. In addition, there's a further seating area nestled around the wood burner in the kitchen.
If you need to make your stay a bit of a workcation, there is also an office with WiFi-enabled printer, desk and chair.
Eating
The incredibly spacious, oak-framed kitchen is truly spectacular. Fronted by a large oak dining table that seats ten, the room has floor-to-ceiling glass windows with panoramic views across the lawn and fields, with bi-fold doors that open on the large terrace.
The slate-topped kitchen itself boasts a stunning reclaimed Victorian ironmongers cabinet with massive glass fronted illuminated shelves, but don't be fooled - it's also equipped with all the integrated mod cons needs to create fabulous feasts, from the induction hob and oven, dishwasher and all the other essentials to the all-important Nespresso coffee machine.
To add extra cosiness, there's an Esse iron heart wood burning stove and cooker, plus three sofas and an armchair for extra comfort - the perfect spot for post-dinner coffee.
In addition, there's also a pizza oven on the terrace behind the sunroom and ideal for a creative gathering - younger ones especially like to create their own pizzas!
There's also an utility room which is home to the washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a boot room that's handy for stowing boots and a downstairs shower room for rinsing off and storing wetsuits.
Sleeping and bathing
There are four gorgeous bedrooms to choose from, all on the first floor accessed via the stunning oak staircase.
The master bedroom lies on the first floor to one end and has fabulous, 180-degree views over the countryside and Lamorna Valley towards Mount's Bay and Lizard Point lighthouse - which at night provides an ever-flashing reminder that the Atlantic Ocean is so very close at hand. With a sumptuous 6ft super king bed, night times are blissfully luxurious whilst the en suite bathroom with Victoria + Albert freestanding bath is made for long soaks. There's also a fabulous secret walk-in wardrobe - can you spot it?
Situated at the other end of the first floor lies the stunning, spacious guest en suite with its own entrance hall, original artwork, epic views, and a writing desk and chair, should you need to catch up on an email or two during your stay. Step inside and there's a comfy zip-and-link super king bed, which can also be set as twins, a gorgeous chaise lounge, dual-aspect windows, plenty of storage and en suite shower room.
In between these two rooms lies a super-sweet twin bedroom - perfect for little ones and a fourth bedroom with pretty abstract prints and another 6ft zip-and-link super king bed, which can also be set as twins for flexible sleeping arrangements. These two bedrooms share the family bathroom which has a contemporary freestanding Victoria + Albert bath.
In addition, there's a further wet room on the ground floor with shower, long Villeroy & Boch rinsing sink and loo.
Outdoor space
Step through the glass bifold doors in the kitchen and you'll find yourself on a sun-soaked terrace, overlooking the large lawned garden with a natural pond (this is fenced off). On the terrace are rattan armchairs with coffee tables, plus a dining table, chairs and a Chesney wood burning barbeque for alfresco meals and to keep you warm at night.
Velansaga also has the dreamy addition of a hot tub - the perfect spot to unwind with a glass in hand under the stars.
In addition, there's a second terrace area near the pizza oven, with its own full wicker glass top table and wicker dining chairs for eight to catch the last of the light and enjoy a family meal creating your own pizzas.
The lawn offers plenty of room for children and dogs to play, whilst it's flat enough for a game of croquet or football.

In the Area
You'll be spoilt for things to do in the far west of Cornwall, from St Michael's Mount on the south coast to St Ives on the north. There are plenty of countryside walks to enjoy from the property whilst you'll find several stunning beaches just a short drive away. Gorgeous Sennen is just one of many to mention and has the most beautiful of beaches - a massive swathe of golden sand lined with houses, shops and places to eat.
No trip to the far west would be complete without visiting the incredible Minack Theatre and Porthcurno beach. If you manage to catch a play (May to September) be ready to be wowed with the most spectacular backdrop - and they carry on whatever the weather, so be prepared! If you can't make a show, you can still pay this iconic landmark a visit as it is open all day for visitors to look around. After exploring, you can climb down to the golden sands of the beach.
The coastline from Mousehole via Sennen to St Ives is spectacular, so head for the South West Coast Path for some incredible walks and stunning vistas. There are delightful coves to explore nearby at Lamorna, St Loy and Penberth and dramatic cliff-top views all the way to Porthgwarra and Land's End. St Ives itself is an artistic and bustling seaside town and is home to the Tate, plus there are plenty of beaches, shops and places to eat. In summer, it's worth heading to St Erth for the park and ride, catching the train, which runs along the Hayle Estuary and coast into the centre.
Centrally located near St Buryan, Velansaga is an excellent base from which to explore the ancient sites of West Penwith including, notably, megalithic stone circles including The Merry Maidens just a mile away, and Boscawen-un, as well as Lanyon Quoit dolmen, and other standing stones such as The Pipers and Mên-an-Tol.
