Boasting some of the softest sand and bluest of waters is the stunning Porthminster Beach in St Ives - an award winning Blue Flag beach with ocean views as far as the eye can see.
Just a stroll away from the centre of St Ives is the picturesque long sandy beach of Porthminster. This family favourite golden stretch of sand is an award-winning Blue Flag beach and has stunning views of the North Cornish coast across towards the Godrevy Lighthouse. With its clear waters, swaying palm trees and mild Cornish climate you can sit back, bask in the sun and listen to the ocean waves and for a second believe you are in the tropics.
The sand is wonderfully soft on your toes and the waters are calm which is perfect for swimming with littles ones. Right on the sand is Porthminster Beach Café which serves a range of meals, drinks and snacks – plus they have sand chairs available if you have forgotten your beach towel and blanket! There is a car park which overlooks the beach however this can be very busy, so we recommend either walking down to Porthminster from your retreat in St Ives or arriving by train which is right next to the beach.
Dogs are very welcome on the beach between 1st October and the first Sunday before Easter and there is Lifeguard cover from 19th of May until 30th of September for that piece of mind.
