Originally a Grade II listed cottage, this pretty building was converted into an inn in 1832 and is nowadays an ideal spot for a deliciously hot meal, a pint of your favourite real ale and for a breath-taking view over Dartmoor. Just a stroll from Widecome-in-the-Moor and situated next to a pretty, bubbling stream, this is an idyllic location and cottage to relax in, whether inside by the roaring fire or outside enjoying the breeze in the garden.
The Inn is made up of a cosy bar area with a toasty log-burner, a warm and welcoming lounge and the restaurant with an open fire place which was once the old bar. Serving both lunch and dinner and using the tastiest locally sourced produce around, you can enjoy a delicious made-to-order pub classic. Peruse the menu and take your pick of a variety of traditional country pies, pasta dishes like cannelloni and lasagne as well as various fish and vegetarian options. For lighter bites you can enjoy a jacket potato with a generous heaped topping, a filled-to-the-brim baguette or a piping hot steak pasty. The bar is well stocked with a great range of real ales straight from the pump, farm ciders and an eclectic selection of wines. Enjoy tasty ales such as Teignworthy’s ‘Rugglestone Moor Beer’ and Dartmoor Brewery’s ‘Legends’, or if cider is more your thing there is nice selection of ciders made at Sandford Orchard.
