Dyrham Park & Gardens, Near Bath

Dyrham is an historical estate tucked away in the beautiful depths of the South Gloucestershire countryside. Compromised of a grand Baroque home and an ancient deer park filled with roaming deer, there is plenty to discover in these 270 magical acres.

A National Trust site, Dyrham has a lot to offer Gloucestershire locals and visitors alike. Stroll through the West Gardens and take in the attractive borders, tranquil ponds and blooming wildflower orchard. Carefully grown and developed over the years, this space has become a fusion of both 21st Century flare and 17th Century spirit.

If knotted trees and peaceful woodlands are more your thing, there are a variety of walks to enjoy throughout the parkland, giving you the chance to spot one of the majestic fallow deer herds. For littles ones, there is a special ‘50 Things’ trail, which includes 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ and encourages young adventurers to connect with nature. For those seeking sanctuary, you can also savour the moment along the Mindfulness Trail, which offers peace and quiet amongst the wildlife.

For more discovery, fall into the rich history of Dyrham’s 17th Century Baroque House – still retaining the same style and panache that founder William Blathwayt originally envisioned. Step inside and take in the sublime artwork and furniture, all from different corners of the world. There are many gorgeous pieces from Holland including a unique collection of Dutch Masters – a collection that is sure to impress art enthusiasts and admirers.

Through guided tours, you can also find out about what happens behind the scenes at Dyrham and how each piece of art is preserved, as well as gaining insights about the conservation work undertaken by the estate’s talented team. Guides are offered throughout the home and in the gardens and parkland, providing you with an unparalleled opportunity to discover all about the secret world of Dyrham Park.
