Cattle Country Adventure Farm Park, near Berkeley

Cattle Country Adventure Farm Park, near Berkeley

Close to the market town of Berkeley, Cattle Country Adventure Park offers a fun-filled day out for all members of the family. Visitors not only have the chance to interact with the farm animals, but can also enjoy a wide range of fun activities – both indoors and out.

Starting out as a field with a couple of trampolines back in the 1990s, Cattle Country has grown into one of the best family visitor attractions in the area, loved by kids of all ages.

You may wish to begin with a stroll around the farmyard, where you will encounter Gloucester Old Spot pigs, Cotswold sheep, red deer and donkeys. The Animal Experience Centre offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of farmyard animals, including Jeremy the cute alpaca. Depending on the time of year, handling the small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits, as well as calf and lamb feeding take place throughout the day.

Pick up a ‘What’s On’ leaflet when you arrive to check which activities you can enjoy. Seasonal activities include falconry displays, tractor rides, magic shows and the fabulous maize maze. During the summer months, it’s lovely to cool off in the splash pool or paddle around the boating lake in a canoe. Little ones will adore the Little Calves water play area.

Toddlers have their own indoor and outdoor play areas to enjoy, while older kids will love climbing all over the adventure castle. Kids and grown-ups of all ages can burn off some energy on the outdoor assault courses, jumping pillows, climbing nets and indoor super slides (including the vertical slide for those daring enough to try it out!) For something more sedate, there’s always a round of mini golf.

If you’ve worked up a hearty appetite after all that fun, the Retreat café serves up hot and cold food, drinks and ice creams. While you’re in the Berkeley area, take the opportunity to visit historic Berkeley Castle, Dr Jenner’s House or nearby WWT Slimbridge.

Cattle Country opens every day from the end of March the beginning of September. Opening times for the rest of the year are mainly restricted to weekends and school holidays. Check their website for opening times and admission charges. Tickets can be booked online in advance.

Please note that in wet weather, some attractions (such as the jumping pillows) may have to close for a short time to comply with regulations. It is rare that this would happen for a whole day.
