The Yorkshire Wildlife Park

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park

A dynamic, interactive centre home to 450 animals, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park takes you on a journey of discovery around the world. Set in over 150 acres of land in South Yorkshire, it provides sanctuary for more than 70 different animal species, most of which are either endangered or threatened. Serving to inspire and educate all generations about the beauty and fragility of our global environments, it’s a must-visit in Yorkshire.

One of Yorkshire’s top things to do, the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park invites you to enjoy its amazing park on foot, coming up close to furry and feathered species of all shapes and sizes. Encouraging you to take your time as you wander the many paths and trails that twist around the park, you can set your own pace as you stroll past a huge array of wildlife zones, seeing and learning about all the park’s wonderful residents.

Starting with the Atlantic Forest with its beautiful bush dogs, lowland tapir and maned wolf, you can then slowly wander across the Himalayan Pass, through Leopard Heights, South America Viva, Project Polar (one of the largest polar bear reserves in the world) and many more areas. In Lion County, you can see a pride of lions rescued from Romania as part of Europe’s largest big cat rescue, and in Otter County, you can watch the endangered giant otters, Alexandra and Orimar, goofing around together.

To get even closer to some of the animals, the park’s brilliant walkthrough enclosures give you the chance to walk alongside striking ring-tailed lemurs in Lemur Woods and charming Bennett’s wallabies in Wallaby Walkabout. Meanwhile, daily talks and feeds from park rangers and bookable experiences, including special VIP tours, add unique twists to park visits. There are even lots of indoor and outdoor play areas, so you can let the youngest members of your pack let off steam before catching a bite to eat at one of the onsite eateries.

Not just a great attraction for the family, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park also provides really valuable insights into the natural world and is filled with opportunities for learning. Together with the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation, the park aims to be a beacon for welfare, education and conservation and provides lots of accessible information to inspire all generations. Promoting sustainability and biodiversity locally and globally, it works with many international charities and has spearheaded many vital conservation projects
