It’s not just the natural wonders that abound though, with a broad and far-reaching menu of activities, Cornwall is a magical destination for anyone looking to experience the wilder side of the county.

About Via Ferrata

A charity-led organisation, Via Ferrata is all about creating cherished memories with friends and family while providing the same for disadvantaged young people and children, with all profits from the inspiring activities going towards the wonderful cause. The centre is tucked away in a historic quarry between Cornwall’s sun-drenched south coast and the rugged south west, giving you easy access to some equally striking days out.

The activities themselves offer a heady mix of experiences, from coasteering and paddleboarding to archery and climbing, while little ones will adore the selection of magical play areas. Tour the historic site with the many winding trails, or take a moment of repose in the café, which looks out over the Zip Wire Safari – ideal for parents who want to watch the children nip past while enjoying a coffee.

Via Ferrata’s newest endeavour is a welcome addition to the itinerary. The Zip Wire Safari is a trio of increasingly exhilarating zip wires, which begin with a gentle drift through the air and end on a lofty adventure above the historic quarry.

You’ll be led through a wonderfully in-depth briefing before being accompanied around a practice course with an instructor, giving you every confidence to fly around the safari during the hour-long experience. Children between the ages of 10 and 14 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult, while older children can be supervised from the café (where delicious cakes await).

Overall, this fun, family day out is a wonderful way to see Cornwall’s historic quarries from an entirely new angle, creating cherished memories as you go.
