Take yourself and your loved ones to this beautiful home by the water. A stunning, traditional two-hundred-year-old Cornish stone cottage directly on the water, it boasts a host of features such as a launch slipway, two large gardens, hot tub, Shepherd's Hut and Summerhouse, making it the perfect retreat for water-loving families or friends looking for a coastal getaway. Once inside, you'll find a characterful home with bags of original features such as beamed ceilings and flag floors, whilst there are luxuriously modern touches too from the fabulously equipped kitchen, two toasty wood burners and the super comfy and welcoming bedrooms.
Ideally located on the pretty South Cornish coast, Riverside Cottage is close to popular Fowey, Polperro, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan - plus of course the gorgeous coastline with sandy beaches just twenty minutes away. The pub and local shop is accessible by crossing the stepping stones - a unique journey and one that doesn't involve a car! The cottage is also just a ten-minute drive away from Lostwithiel station, so it's easy to get to if you choose not to drive.
Living
The tranquil sitting room is perfectly lovely with pretty river views and gorgeous original features such as the beamed ceiling, flagstone floor and exposed stone feature fireplace with roaring wood burning stove - perfect for colder months. There's a large, comfy sofa plus two occasional chairs, making it the go-to spot for gathering together and relaxing, plus a door leading into the garden - ideal for letting in the summer breeze on hot days. You'll also find a lovely reading area with two sumptuous chairs - the perfect spot to curl up with your book and a glass of something fantastic in hand.
Eating
The wonderful kitchen-dining room is made for entertaining. With flagstone floors and tones of white, grey and natural wood, this is a lovely spot with the spacious country kitchen dining table for eight and the fabulous wood burning stove taking centre stage. We just love the dual-aspect window and Velux windows which let in lashings of sunlight.
The spacious kitchen with white cabinets is just a dream to cook in, being home to a large five-ring stove with oven and microwave, dishwasher, two fridges, freezer, and lots of extras such as a Espresso coffee machine and a Nutribullet - enough to satisfy even the pickiest of chefs.
In addition, there's a laundry room where you'll find a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Sleeping
Take the stairs and you'll discover three dreamy bedrooms to choose from. The en suite master bedroom, with river views, wrought iron super-king size bed, exposed wooden floor, built in wardrobes and calm colours, is the ultimate bolt hole to retreat to at the end of the day. The second bedroom, also looking over the water, is a divine king size bedroom with built in wardrobes and a dressing table. The third bedroom to the back with dual-aspect windows is a zip-and-link meaning it can be set up as twins (perfect for little ones) or kept together as a further super king.
Bathing
The master bedroom en suite has a luxurious shower whilst the family bathroom boasts a gorgeous roll-top, freestanding bathtub for two and a separate walk-in shower. Both come with heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy. In addition, there's a loo and shower downstairs - perfect for sandy toes after a day out on the beach.
Outdoor space
The south east facing gardens are just a delight, with exceptional views over the river to the rolling hills beyond, leading down to the water's edge. There are two main garden areas - to the front is a large, flat riverside garden ideal for games and there's also a dining table for four on the stone quay right on the water's edge, a gas barbeque and a lovely secluded, private south east facing area with four steamers to lounge on as well as outdoor table tennis. There's also a chiminea and a fire pit for evenings outside. This is a lovely spot to watch river life as you breakfast or gaze at the stars reflected in the water on a balmy summer's night. The other garden is to the back and is a mature terraced grassy area where you'll find a gorgeous Summerhouse, another dining table and chairs for six in the rose garden with elevated river views, a wonderful wood-fired Cornish boat built hot tub on a raised deck for six (with spectacular river views) and a tucked-away Shepherd's Hut - bliss!
Parking
There is offroad parking for up to four cars.

In the Area
Nestled on the South Cornish coast next to the River Lerryn, Riverside Cottage is a wonderful home stay for exploring this beautiful part of the county. With six circular walks from the house you don't need to step into a car to explore if you don't want to - head to St Winnow with its ancient church and there's a seasonal farm café and shop too - perfect for a cream tea. Alternatively, take a boat trip to Lostwithiel (just an hour by kayak) from Lerryn, a quaint market town and a fab spot for fish and chips by the river. Head further afield down to Fowey, a picturesque, bustling seaside town with exceptional places to eat and fabulous shops to potter about in as well as boat hire or catching the ferry over to Boddinick and the Ferry Inn. Head further west and you'll come across the amazing Eden Project, Charlestown and its historic port (famed for featuring in Poldark), the spectacular Lost Gardens of Heligan and the gorgeous Roseland Peninsula. To the east, there's beautiful coastline to explore all the way to Whitsand Bay and the often overlooked but incredibly pretty, Rame Peninsula. Head inland and the lush Cardinham Woods are well worth a visit whilst wild and dramatic Bodmin Moor is just lovely. From there, you're a hop, skip and a jump to the Camel Estuary and the dramatic north Cornish coast, from Padstow to Polzeath and beyond.
