Settled above the sweet working harbour of Mevagissey on Cornwall's south coast amongst secret coves and jewel-green pockets of countryside, Kia Ka Mina is perfectly positioned to uncover Cornwall's multifarious scenery and unique culture.
Living and eating
Promising jaw-dropping views over the harbour and beyond, the cosy neutral-toned lounge with mid-century details is a calming space to while away the hours. Adorned with a variety of pretty antique paintings and sketches, this captivating space offers a choice of seating options, including two stylish Ercol armchairs and a large sofa for four with a complementing ottoman coffee table. For entertainment, you can find an array of board games and novels, along with a Smart TV with an array of streaming services.
Uncover Kia Ka Mina's large Critall-style glass open-plan kitchen and dining space, divinely designed to accentuate its dreamy oceanside position. An oak dining table for six rests beside bifold doors, leading out onto the idyllic front terrace. On warmer days, open the doors and listen to the gentle lap of waves whilst you dine. A Howard-style occasional armchair nestles in the corner, offering a heavenly spot to indulge in some afternoon reading or sighting dolphins.
At the opposite end of this captivating space is the elegant kitchen, divided by a breakfast bar feature with four barstools. With beautifully bespoke, blue-toned cabinets, a stunning double Butler sink and blanched Silestone worktops, this hand-crafted space is perfect for the culinary artists of the party. Everything you should need for rustling up fine feasts is on hand, including a Bertazzoni range oven with hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, and a dishwasher, whilst caffeine aficionados will adore the various equipment at Kia Ka Mina, including a cafetiere, Aerolatte drip cup, coffee bean grinder and milk foamer. A Revo Superconnect DAB radio with Bluetooth is also available for when you wish to play your staycation soundtrack.
In addition, Kia Ka Mina has a gorgeous bootroom with rustic bench seating with plenty of space for your things. You will also find a laundry cupboard with a washing machine.
Sleeping and bathing
There are three stunning bedrooms at Kia Ka Mina, two of which can be found on the ground floor.
Dressed in sage green and cream hues with floral artwork, is the first king-sized bedroom with a bronze iron frame, nodding to architectural details seen throughout. Additionally, there are antique bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a hanging rail.
Tucked away at the end of the hall, a snug bedroom with gorgeous wood flooring is an adorable hangout for the little ones. You'll find a chest of drawers and a wardrobe for storing your belongings.
A family bathroom in neutral tones offers a soul-soothing space to unwind. Here you'll find a bathtub, along with a marble tiled walk-in shower with a rainfall head.
Wander to the top floor to uncover the darling master bedroom, boasting French doors leading to a balcony - an otherworldly spot to savour romantic mornings admiring sunrises over the Cornish coastline. Taking centre stage, a king-sized rattan bed topped with super-soft linens promises sweet slumbers and lingering lie-ins. You'll also find two bedside tables, an antique dressing table with chair, a built-in wardrobe, and the lovely addition of a Revo DAB radio.
Just next door, an en suite adorned with Zellige-style tiling offers a spacious walk-in shower with a rainfall head.
Outdoor space
Uncover alfresco charm in Kia Ka Mina's tiered garden, where bewitching ocean scenes promise staycation moments from your wildest daydreams. You'll find four wooden Adirondack chairs with footstools and two loungers for indulging in afternoon aperitifs and far-reaching vistas, along with an iron bistro table for six on the terrace - a delightful spot to host summer banquets and twilight soirees. There is also the unique addition of a heated outdoor shower, a charcoal barbeque and a firepit for gathering together under the stars.
Parking
You will find private parking for up to one car at Kia Ka Mina. Please note, the driveway is very steep and narrow. There is plenty of street parking directly behind the retreat.
Babies and children
Babies and children are welcome at Kia Ka Mina. There is a high chair and a travel cot available for your use.
Dogs
Two small dogs are most welcome at Kia Ka Mina. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
In the Area
Residing in the picturesque working fishing port of Mevagissey, guests at Kia Ka Mina are spoilt for choice with a wealth of exquisite eateries, pretty beaches and magical days out only a stones' throw away. Settled harbourside on the water's edge is Sharksfin, where you can dine on a variety of dishes as you overlook gently swaying fishings boats, or alternatively seek an ambient experience at the historic Kings Arms, where you can find an extensive wine list and a menu that varies daily. Uncover the modest Salamander, a bistro with a cute yellow cottage exterior presenting fresh local seafood with flair, whilst popular Alvorada tempts the tastebuds with a traditional, authentic Portuguese menu. Set in a pastoral valley ten minutes from Mevagissey is the Polgooth Inn, a classically Cornish pub offering dishes crafted with produce from their kitchen garden. When summertime arrives, board the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry where you may spot rare Risso dolphins or escape to the Mediterranean-esque Portmellon for early morning dips and paddleboarding.
