Living

As befits such a cosy yet spacious house, there is plenty of space for you and your loved ones to relax, whether it's a lazy day at home or after a busy day exploring. The exquisite drawing room with a trio of huge, plush sofas and extra armchairs provides seating for twelve and is the ideal room for coming together, whether it's over drinks in evening or opening presents at Christmas. The large wood burner is the perfect centrepiece and there's a Smart TV, DVD player and a Sonos sound system for entertaining.

There's also a super-cosy but very spacious Snug, with ample seating for eight plus a large Smart TV and DVD player and lots of board games - the ultimate hideaway for young ones wanting their own space or for those seeking to escape the crowd and settle with a good book. Again, this boasts a delightful wood burner to keep things toasty warm - we won't blame you if you have an afternoon snooze!

Eating

Just wow - the kitchen-come-dining room is just fabulous and the ultimate space for entertaining. Whether you're a keen cook or hiring your own private chef, this extremely spacious and fully equipped kitchen is full of everything you'll need. We just adore the mint-coloured electric Aga, but there's also an induction hob and oven should you prefer. In addition, there is a microwave, a dishwasher and two fridge-freezers so you won't run out of space!

The dining area is positively perfect with a bespoke black walnut kitchen table, which can seat up to twelve people, Sonos sound system and a fabulous wood burner - we're dreaming of long dinner parties late into the night, watching the flickering flames.

In addition, there's a large utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, Belfast sink and a countertop icemaker.

Please note there aren't stair gates at the top of the front stairs nor any at the back stairs as at the top of the rear stairs the span is too great.

Outdoor space

The wonderful, fully enclosed garden with far-reaching country views has lots of space for you all to spread out. Comprising of three zones - the old croquet lawn, the orchard field, and the top garden. In addition, there's plenty to keep you entertained with a portable outdoor all-weather table tennis table and badminton set. We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Lanherne:

Lanherne is wonderful. The house itself is comfortable and luxurious at the same time. The hot tub is fantastic and the location perfect

Another wonderful family holiday in a comfortable, clean and beautiful Boutique Retreat property. The owner and BR team were very helpful and responsive prior to, and throughout, our stay. Thank you.

This holiday cottage is fantastic. Beautiful home with a wonderful garden and hot tub. The were a choice of log burners and the bedrooms/bathroom were luxurious. Our dogs loved running around the garden. He is a really considerate host providing a welcome basket plus all the logs for the fireplaces. Good selection of indoor and outdoors games and we even had a BBQ. O would definitely recommend this treat for couples or for friend/family occasions. We will be back. Thank you

Wonderful place to stay, beautiful setting.House was perfect for a family including our dogs. Well kept very clean and very well equipped home from home

Amazing house, lovely gardens and outside seating area. We can't recommend this beautiful house enough

We had the most amazing stay at Lanherne. The house was beautiful and very comfortable with plenty of room for our party of ten. The location was fantastic for visiting the north coast and the views from the hot tub were stunning. Our children loved the huge gardens and enjoyed playing table tennis and boules. The house was very clean and tidy and was extremely well equipped. The owner has thought of everything you would possibly need. Communication was fantastic and the owner was extremely helpful prior to our stay providing us with useful information about the area, shops, eating out, recreation etc. Easy and smooth check in. During our stay, the owner was very responsive when we had a query and was always available to contact. We were treated to an amazing welcome hamper when we arrived which went down well after our long journey. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Tobias- the owner- could not have done more. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and explain all the ins/outs of the house. The guide he put together is fantastic. Mawgan Porth is a beautiful little enclave- why would you go to any of the other beaches?!

We had a fantastic time at Lanherne House. A beautiful location, suitable for a large family, everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. Lovely walks straight from the house, beaches a short drive away. Tobias the owner was very helpful with recommendations, and contactable if we had any questions. We arrived after a long drive and refreshments had been left for us, such a lovely thought. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Lanherne is a lovely house nestled in rural North Cornwall only a 6 minute drive to Mawgan Porth and the beach. There is also a lovely wood fired hot tub to enjoy and a well-stocked kitchen in terms of crockery, glasses and cooking utensils.

Lanherne is the most magical place. We had the most wonderful family holiday. The house was beautiful and well equipped. The gardens are huge and alfresco dining is a must! The views are stunning and lots of places to visit nearby. We didn't want to leave!

We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the facilities at the house. Everything you need is provided and thoughtfully laid out.

We loved our stay at Lanherne, it was the perfect house for a large group with children. The garden and surroundings were all beautiful topped off by a fab hot tub where you can relax & enjoy the view! The bedrooms are all big with very comfy beds and plenty of bathrooms. We will go again one day!

The house was absolutely perfect for our large family group. Clean, comfortable and incredibly well equipped. Our party of 11 + our family dog spent a wonderful Christmas at Lanherne. The house was very spacious - two large reception rooms as well as a large kitchen/diner meant we could all spread out! The bedrooms were very spacious too, with the most comfortable beds and beautiful views! The bathrooms were clean, and again very spacious. The owner was incredibly responsive during our stay even over the Christmas period. Nothing was too much trouble and all questions were answered promptly. The house was great value for money and I would happily recommend this property to any large family group. We hope to be back!

We stayed at the Lanherne at the end of September with friends and two dogs. The house was perfect for a larger group, with more than enough room for us all to have our own space, the decor was lovely and the garden and views fabulous. Great location to explore from and the weather was just on the autumn turn so we could enjoy a few sunny days out with an evening by the wood burners. I especially highly recommend this house for people planning to fly to Newquay, less than 10 mins to the airport, but you would never have guessed it with the house and gardens being so peaceful. Tobias the owner of Lanherne was super helpful, providing lots of recommendations for food shops, restaurants etc and was on hand for any questions. Brilliant stay and would love to make a return visit in the future.

Great position, really comfortable house, perfect for our family holiday. Garden wonderful, loved the hot tub.

Lanherne is a lovely home inside and out, with a relaxed feel. We felt at ease even with three small children. The outside dining area was well used during our stay, for barbecues and a private dinner. The hot tub was also enjoyed on several evenings. All the rooms are tastefully furnished and comfortable; the kitchen is extremely well-equipped; wi-fi good. The friendly owner made contact beforehand and gave us helpful suggestions for good places to eat. There are plenty of places to visit within a few miles and for walkers (without small children!) the short walk to St Mawgan and slightly longer one to St Columb Major were worth doing with good refreshments at each village. Everyone in our three generation family enjoyed the week at Lanherne.

This is a magical property ideally suited for a large family get together in a lovely quiet rural location but with easy access to a wide range of multigenerational activities. The entire process was seamless and the property itself exceeded expectations. The owner contacted us beforehand and did all that he could to ensure the success of our break.

We couldn’t fault our stay! The house was beautiful, very well equipped, with every detail carefully thought about and perfectly executed; including a large supply of wood for the hot tub and charcoal for the bbq, making our stay completely hassle free. The welcome pack of biscuits, crisps, champagne, bread, butter and eggs was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated.

Gorgeous cottage inside and out! Everything you could possibly need for your stay and loved the thoughtful dog treats for the pets. The owner was extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend.

An excellent house which is really well appointed and equipped, in an excellent location

A beautiful house perfect for family get togethers. We had a very comfortable stay thank you.

Absolutely stunning house, enjoyed for a long weekend with old friends. Watching the sunset from the hot tub then sitting there listening to the owl was magical.

Tobias the owner of the property was very helpful if we had any issues. The house itself was absolutely fabulous. It was the perfect property for a family get away with dogs. Would definitely love to go back.

A beautiful house with outstanding views. Very clean, comfortable and well equiped. The hot tub was well used! Great location for beaches. The owner was really helpsul when needed.

Lanherne was such a wonderful place of serenity for us to stay - beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There was a big group of us but we never felt on top of each other - would thoroughly recommend!

Laherne is an amazing place to spend time away at. All 12 of us that stayed, with a wide range of ages, loved the House. Brilliantly decorated in all rooms to a very high standard, with a lovely relaxed feel to it, which is essential when on Holiday. We hope to return next year.

Beautiful house in a stunning, very restful location. Equipped with everything you could wish for. Really nice to be away from the busy coast, but within only a few minutes drive to the beach when needed. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed Lanherne and it was a great high quality space within easy access of great beaches and facilities. Will recommend and come again

Highly recommend a stay at the wonderful Lanherne, beautiful house and gardens, the perfect relaxing location for a family holiday

This cottage was the perfect choice for our party of 8 people. I love it when somewhere you choose meets and exceeds expectations. Beautiful surrounding scenery of countryside, immaculate inside and along with the charming character of a country house came lots of mod cons - wood fired burners in kitchen, lounge and snug, great sound system and lots of workable wifi. Brilliantly equipped kitchen, beautiful big table with aga that kept the room so warm we didn't need the additional woodburning stove. Fantastic bathrooms and beds. We all just loved this house and would definately come back. Thank you!

The home is magnificent from decor to location and amenities. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub, which would be great in any weather.

A wonderful house, which was well equipped and spotlessly presented. The large enclosed gardens were excellent for our young children and dog and we found easy access to the beach and the local village of St Mawgan, where there is a cracking local pub, playground and tea rooms. We will definitely be returning.
