Tucked away in the heart of the picturesque and historical fishing village of Newlyn is this delightful little number - a lovingly restored cottage perfect for small families or couples. Arty and characterful, the interiors are a homage to seaside living in marine shades throughout, maintaining all its charm and bags of original features. With wonderful sea, harbour and garden views, this is a little oasis of calm, plus dogs are welcome too.
The village of Newlyn boasts a plethora of wonderful places to eat and is the perfect location for exploring the far west of Cornwall, from St Michael's Mount around to St Ives and beyond.
Living
The beautiful warm sitting room is a joy in shades of grey and navy blue and retains all its original features such as the beamed ceiling and the fireplace, now home to a cosy wood burner. It is furnished with a mix of antiques, stone and copper pieces reflecting its significance in Newlyn's past. With lush garden views, a cosy, cushiony sofa to cuddle up on and two wonderful occasional chairs (just made for moments with a good book), there's plenty of seating choice, whilst there's a Smart TV for film nights.
In addition, there's a super snug upstairs with pretty sea views, a desk (ideal for artists inspired by the views) plus a comfortable sofa and a large TV with surround sound - the perfect spot to relax with just the sound of the sea and the seagulls in the distance.
Eating
The gorgeous George Robinson-designed kitchen is just a delight in Farrow and Ball blue, with all the equipment you'll need tucked neatly away including an induction hob and oven, dishwasher, washer-dryer and all the other essentials including a Nespresso machine and a milk frother for those all-important morning coffees. The dining table with trestle seating and chairs is the perfect spot for meals, and we just love the quirky neon lighting and stunning over table lamp. Being so close to the historic fishing harbour, you're just a few easy steps from the plethora of fishmongers where you'll find the freshest of fish and seafood and a growing number of leading restaurants on offer - delicious!
Sleeping
There are two beautiful bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom lies to the front of the property and boasts lovely sea views which you can gaze at from the sumptuously cosy king-size bed with Emma mattress. The second bedroom with idyllic garden views has a handy zip-and-link bed, meaning it can be either a super-king bed or two large singles. The latter also has black our curtains. Both rooms boast plenty of storage and luxurious linens and bedding - the perfect spots to fall into after a perfect day out exploring west Cornwall.
Bathing
Downstairs, you'll find the pretty, characterful bathroom with roll-top freestanding bath (perfect for long soaks), gorgeous tiled floor, eye-catching stained-glass accented window and delightfully retro toilet. Upstairs, handily close to the bedrooms, is a lovely shower room with a frieze of commissioned tiles showing Newlyn Harbour, powerful shower to wake you up in the morning and a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
We just love the tucked-away, private gardens. To the front of the house, you'll pass newly planted gardens with a shingled path leading to the front door, where there's a terrace with fabulous sea and harbour views. In the morning, make the most of the sunshine with al fresco meals on the table and chairs, whilst to the back to the back of the house there is a small, walled courtyard which has a bistro table and chairs - ideal for afternoon tea bathed in the sun and dappled shade from the lush planting.
Parking
There is space to unload and load your car outside the retreat. On-street parking is available, as well as various car parks within six- and eight-minutes walking distance. Umbrellas will be provided to protect you as you unload the car and a handy map with local parking tips will be in the house on your arrival.

Babies and children
The Old Workshop is suitable for babes in arms or children over eight years. A travel cot and high chair is provided.
Dogs
Up to two medium-sized dogs are very welcome. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

The Old Workshop has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.
Setting
Newlyn is built into a granite hillside. There is a steep walk from the Harbour to the Workshop. The property itself has steep stairs. It may not be appropriate for people with disabilities or mobility constraints.
In the Area
Lucky you! Not only are you surrounded by some of the most untouched countryside found in the UK, but you also have a huge choice of an increasing number of wonderful places to eat and drink on your doorstep. A must is Argoe, The Tolcarne Inn and Mackerel Sky (open March to October) for exquisite fresh fish dishes. The fabulous Newlyn Filmhouse is not only a great independent cinema, it also has a great restaurant and café/bar attached, open 10am-10pm daily. Make sure to visit the legendary Jelberts, who only make fresh ice cream on the day, served with clotted cream and a flake. New to Newlyn is Lovetts, a bijou, atmospheric coffee bar by day and wine bar by night specialising in organic and biodynamic wines. Further afield, there's The Old Coastguard and 2 Fore Street in Mousehole, and plenty of choice in Penzance and beyond. With unspoilt beaches galore you'll not be short of choice for seaside days, whilst The Minack Theatre, Sennen Cove, St Michael's Mount, Mousehole, the scenic route from St Just to St Ives, The Lizard and St Ives are must-see places. Reflecting the importance of Newlyn and the famed school of artists, The Workshop is conveniently located close to the Newlyn Art School, Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange with Penlee House Gallery & Museum and its leading collection a lovely walk.
