Tucked away in the heart of the picturesque and historical fishing village of Newlyn is this delightful little number - a lovingly restored cottage perfect for small families or couples. Arty and characterful, the interiors are a homage to seaside living in marine shades throughout, maintaining all its charm and bags of original features. With wonderful sea, harbour and garden views, this is a little oasis of calm, plus dogs are welcome too.

The village of Newlyn boasts a plethora of wonderful places to eat and is the perfect location for exploring the far west of Cornwall, from St Michael's Mount around to St Ives and beyond.

The beautiful warm sitting room is a joy in shades of grey and navy blue and retains all its original features such as the beamed ceiling and the fireplace, now home to a cosy wood burner. It is furnished with a mix of antiques, stone and copper pieces reflecting its significance in Newlyn's past. With lush garden views, a cosy, cushiony sofa to cuddle up on and two wonderful occasional chairs (just made for moments with a good book), there's plenty of seating choice, whilst there's a Smart TV for film nights.

In addition, there's a super snug upstairs with pretty sea views, a desk (ideal for artists inspired by the views) plus a comfortable sofa and a large TV with surround sound - the perfect spot to relax with just the sound of the sea and the seagulls in the distance.

The gorgeous George Robinson-designed kitchen is just a delight in Farrow and Ball blue, with all the equipment you'll need tucked neatly away including an induction hob and oven, dishwasher, washer-dryer and all the other essentials including a Nespresso machine and a milk frother for those all-important morning coffees. The dining table with trestle seating and chairs is the perfect spot for meals, and we just love the quirky neon lighting and stunning over table lamp. Being so close to the historic fishing harbour, you're just a few easy steps from the plethora of fishmongers where you'll find the freshest of fish and seafood and a growing number of leading restaurants on offer - delicious!

There are two beautiful bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom lies to the front of the property and boasts lovely sea views which you can gaze at from the sumptuously cosy king-size bed with Emma mattress. The second bedroom with idyllic garden views has a handy zip-and-link bed, meaning it can be either a super-king bed or two large singles. The latter also has black our curtains. Both rooms boast plenty of storage and luxurious linens and bedding - the perfect spots to fall into after a perfect day out exploring west Cornwall.

Downstairs, you'll find the pretty, characterful bathroom with roll-top freestanding bath (perfect for long soaks), gorgeous tiled floor, eye-catching stained-glass accented window and delightfully retro toilet. Upstairs, handily close to the bedrooms, is a lovely shower room with a frieze of commissioned tiles showing Newlyn Harbour, powerful shower to wake you up in the morning and a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

We just love the tucked-away, private gardens. To the front of the house, you'll pass newly planted gardens with a shingled path leading to the front door, where there's a terrace with fabulous sea and harbour views. In the morning, make the most of the sunshine with al fresco meals on the table and chairs, whilst to the back to the back of the house there is a small, walled courtyard which has a bistro table and chairs - ideal for afternoon tea bathed in the sun and dappled shade from the lush planting.

There is space to unload and load your car outside the retreat. On-street parking is available, as well as various car parks within six- and eight-minutes walking distance. Umbrellas will be provided to protect you as you unload the car and a handy map with local parking tips will be in the house on your arrival.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Old Workshop:

Excellent place, decoration, attention to detail, guide left by hosts- we hope to return

I truly enjoyed both the area and accommodation.

What a fabulous cottage which is so we'll presented. The owners clearly love the village and that passion is shown in how they want you to enjoy your time there... and we throughly did!

The house was fab, and the secluded garden a real bonus. We loved it and do did our pooches. The dog beds at the house were also well received - it meant we didnt have to take ours out of the car everyday (we have whippet type dogs snd they dont do lying on a floor!!!!) Having kitchen knives that actually cut was a revelation - we have been known to take our own in the past!!!

It had everything one might want or need, so we appreciated the thought and care.

We had a great week, the cottage is very well decorated, has roomy bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed sitting on the patio looking out over the harbour.

Beautiful cottage in a great Cornish working fishing village

The most beautiful cottage in a great location. It is obvious the owner has thought about everything that can be done provided to make it such a great place to stay. It is stylish, spotlessly clean and luxuriously comfortable. A real gem.

A beautiful cottage in stunning Newlyn. Within walking distance of lots of fabulous restaurants and super fresh fishmongers. Highly recommended

A beautiful area, a beautiful house, and a beautiful time relaxing. Thank you!

Thank you so much for providing fabulous hospitality and a comfortable and beautiful home. We had a wonderful time as a family and all the small, carefully thought through features and gestures make it really special. Thanks for letting us bring the dogs!

A delightful place to celebrate my birthday! Such a lovely cottage! Really comfortable with so many stunning walks! We will be back soon!

Fantastic property in a perfect location - very peaceful and private and just as described on the website.

We have had a wonderful week in your gorgeous cottage, thank you. Weather was fabulous, and your tips for dog walks and places to eat were all excellent. Being able to relax in such comfortable and well appointed surroundings was a real treat. And whoever is responsible for the interior design is extremely clever, so many beautiful pieces and tasteful decor, have taken lots of ideas home. We will be back for sure next year.

The cottage was beautifully presented and finished to very high standard. Lovely details that showed that a lot of care and thought had gone into making our stay feel very special.

The Old Workshop is perfect in every way, wonderfully homely and fabulous attention to detail, especially the very impressive information folder. We had glorious weather all week too, just perfect. Thank you! We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable and extremely well equipped cottage. It was lovely to be able to walk out to all the restaurants and also along the coast path to Mousehole, Lamorna and Penzance.

We have stayed at the Old Workshop a few times now as we absolutely adore this cottage; so much so that summer doesn't feel the same without a visit here. The location, the facilities, the decor and the extremely comfy beds make this a true slice of heaven! If you are looking for a home away from home which is close to the best beaches and restaurants in Cornwall then you must stay at this lovely cottage.

Amazing with beautiful views and an outstanding interior with so many homely touches. Quiet, but within walking distance of Newlyn, Penzance and even Mousehole.

A lovely cottage, with a fabulous garden. Fantastic views of the coast!

Stunning views and beautifully presented property. Newlyn is surprisingly gourmet and a trip to the Jubilee pool if only for the cake is a must.

This is a great holiday retreat in Newlyn - deceptively spacious with beautiful décor and a well equipped kitchen. (One thing to mention is that it is up a little but steep hill, which might be worth considering if you have mobility concerns.)

Fantastic find in the middle of the bustling fishing port of Newlyn; COvid means for us we could be as spontaneous on our holiday as we would normally be (you had to book everywhere you wanted to go a few days in advance) the cottage itself was magnificent with everything we could possibly need for a memorable anniversary celebration away - thank you ??

It’s a gorgeous cottage, a hidden gem. The decor was beautiful and it was lovely our dog was also catered for. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the harbour having breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening was a treat.

The house is better than the photos published, a real treat. Plus Newlyn is a real hot spot in Cornwall which was an added bonus. Planning to return in a different season it was that good!

I could have packed up my personal belongings and moved in without changing a thing it was so homely and I felt instantly comfortable and relaxed- it was very hard to leave!

Beautiful cottage . A home from home. We all loved it. Owners have taken great care to make it a cosy and comfortable place with lovely touches. Would highly recommend.
