As you open the door and step into this Georgian country home, you'll know you've arrived somewhere truly special. Set in a prominent position in Padstow's 'Old Town', you'll have enviable views over the town out to sea, whilst open fires, stripped wooden floorboards and sumptuous furnishings - in keeping with the heritage of the house yet super stylish too - makes sure this is a retreat you'll never forget. We particularly love the lighting here which has been designed and created specifically for Fentonluna by the lighting designer for SoHo House Hotels - Charlotte Packe. With a cinema room tucked in the attic, four perfectly individual bedrooms, an astonishing kitchen-come-dining room and a stylish sitting room there's bags of space, whilst outside the pretty walled garden and patio is just perfect for warmer weather.
An incredible heritage
Built in 1750, this stunning home has a unique and illustrious history as it belongs to Prideaux Place, a prestigious estate dating back to the Elizabethan era and continuously home to the same family ever since - although the Prideaux's themselves have lived in Cornwall since before the 1100's. Fentonluna was once home to the Land Agent who managed the Prideaux estate, but today it has been lovingly restored by the Prideaux-Brune family to become a gorgeously luxurious holiday home. This is a unique opportunity to have a sneaky peak into the life and history of the Prideaux-Brune family.
Living
Lazing is chic in the stunning sitting room at Fentonluna. The original fireplace is accompanied by two oversized, comfy Loaf sofas whilst the garden views, pretty prints and mirrors all add a light, relaxed ambience. We love the original wooden floors but don't worry about chilly toes - a fab rug ensures feet are kept warm, whilst we'd love to while away an hour or two in the window seat, a la Jane Austen style.
Cinema room
Fentonluna's hidden jewel can be found at the top of the house tucked away in the eaves. An incredible cinema room awaits, complete with funky velvet seats. There's a box of games as well as a Playstation 4 (with a selection of the best games) and the screen - like a projector - can be tucked away when not used. This is a great room for kids to hide away in - leaving the lounge free for parents (a win-win situation we think), or perfect for a grown-up movie night - just add popcorn.
Eating
The incredible kitchen and dining room really is the heart of this amazing home. At the far end lies the kitchen area, complete with original flag flooring. Beautiful bespoke cabinets are in the darkest of blue, whilst a great island creates plenty of additional space plus a small kitchen bar. There's a huge American-style fridge freezer, six-ring range oven and hob and enough fantastic equipment to satisfy the pickiest of chefs.
The dining area at the front of the house has a huge table which easily sits eight - perfect for long, lazy lunches or decadent dinner parties. The open fire makes things super-cosy, the window overlooks the tranquil garden and the original exposed floorboards have been beautifully restored - a stunning mix of original features and modern touches.
Sleeping
Four beautifully original bedrooms await - each as stunning as the next. The master bedroom is resplendent in soft creams, crisp whites and lovely dark wood flooring with a super king size, oh-so-comfy bed. It has two huge windows so light floods in - a peaceful paradise for a lucky couple. Additionally, there's another double, swathed in shades of blue - the rich velvet throw is just gorgeous and accentuates the king sized mahogany bed. The third and fourth bedrooms are just peachy and offers flexible sleeping - they are both zip and links, meaning they can be a super king size or twin - perfect for children, friends or couples. Stairgates are provided to keep little ones safe.
Bathing
There shouldn't be any arguments at bath time - there are three gorgeous bathrooms as well as an additional cloakroom downstairs. Two of the bathrooms (one green, one black-and-white) come complete with huge walk-in showers as well as deep, luxurious baths, whilst the bathroom next to the twin has a bath with hand-held shower - perfect for little ones. It also has views over the Prideaux deer park - the oldest herd of enclosed deer in the country (apart from the royal enclosure) so you'll catch a glimpse or two of deer trotting past. Each bathroom comes complete with a heated towel rail, meaning towels stay fluffy and warm.
Outdoor space
Fentonluna has a fantastic fully enclosed garden with tall walls, meaning you're completely private when relaxing outside. There's a great patio complete with dining table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining, whilst a barbeque means you can cook up a feast too. Additionally, there's a handy summer house - complete with table tennis!
Parking
There is parking for two cars at Fentonluna, which is very rare for Padstow. The garage is adjacent to Fentonluna. Please be aware that as it is an old property, the garage is quite tight and does require good maneuvering skills. There is room for two vehicles parked one in front of the other, up to the size and height of a Volvo XC90.
Additional parking can be found on Fentonluna Lane or Tregirls Lane, opposite Prideaux Place. Alternatively, there are local car parks within Padstow.
Dogs
Two well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Fentonluna. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
WiFi
Fentonluna has WiFi so if you need to stay in contact with the outside world you can.
In the Area
Lucky you! Fentonluna is in such a perfect position. Located in the 'Old Town' part of Padstow, it's wonderfully quiet in summer despite being a two minute walk into the hustle and bustle of the shops and harbour. There's a great selection of places to eat from Paul Ainsworth and Rick Stein to a plethora of cafes, pubs and excellent restaurants. It also has seven sandy beaches within an easy distance.
The Camel Estuary offers plenty of water sports whilst the Camel Trail is excellent for walking and cycling, or if you're keen - run it. The coastal path is great for walks with stunning views too. Head to nearby Polzeath for great surfing, or for a spot of people watching head to glam Rock.
