Flee reality for an otherworldly retreat at our contemporary homestay in North Cornwall, where a dream-worthy escape resides for the lovers of luxurious indoor-outdoor living and far-reaching waterside views. Weaving the beautifully rustic notions of Wabi-Sabi design with architectural inspiration from the far-flung edges of Sri-Lanka and the Mediterranean, our retreat promises a secret estuary position beside the River Camel, with enchanting tidal views at every opportunity. A poetic blend of reclaimed earthen materials, exotic period furnishings and darling bohemian touches, Nahla's design-led interiors offer an atmospheric sanctuary away from the everyday, complete with an open fire, a wood burning stove, a home cinema, and an air-purification system.

Welcoming up to twelve guests across six bedrooms, our North Cornish escape is perfect for larger gatherings, with stunning, split-level living and a seamless transition leading from the ample open-plan living quarters to a sun-dappled wraparound terrace and balcony on the east elevation. Promising a divine retreat for multi-generational parties, Nahla offers the option of a hidden annexe for two, accessed via a secret staircase, complete with a romantic bedroom with a vintage French bathtub and a private living and kitchen space. Outside, tumbling landscaped gardens lead to a stunning, heated outdoor swimming pool, where you'll also discover the unique addition of an open-air games bunker with a pool table. At the foot of the enchanting grounds, wander to the private woodland with a gently babbling brook, leading to the ancient Saints' Way and Camel Trail. Bewitchingly rural with a serene countryside position, Nahla is settled close to a plethora of AONB destinations waiting to be uncovered. The quintessential harbour town of Padstow resides nearby, promising a myriad of fine dining opportunities inspired by the rugged Cornish coastline, whilst for those spellbound by oceanside landscapes, head to the beaches of Trevone, Harlyn and Constantine, where some of Cornwall's best surfing destinations are only a ten-minute drive away.

Living, Kitchen and Dining

Greeted by dramatic views of an estuarine landscape and a mid-century-inspired hanging staircase crafted with chestnut timber, Nahla's stunning entrance hall provides a warm welcome.

Through sliding doors, discover the spacious open-plan living and dining quarters, adorned with Nahla's signature, bohemian-inspired interiors and sleek, polished concrete floors akin to a contemporary Mediterranean villa. Simply a dream for gathering and carefully curated for seamless indoor-outdoor living with floor-ceiling glass windows and doors at every opportunity, charming country vistas await at every turn.

Taking centre stage beneath rattan pendant feature lighting is the spacious kitchen island, hugged by wooden breakfast stools. Everything you'll require for dreamy home banquets is on hand, including an Everhot 120i electric range cooker with an induction hob, two dishwashers, a large American steel fridge-freezer, and a Breville ground coffee machine. Adjacent to the kitchen is a walk-in larder, with stunning slate worktops and ample storage for locally foraged produce.

Set between the kitchen and dining space is the sumptuous cocktail lounge, where you'll find a secret built-in bar with a fridge hidden behind rattan bi-fold doors. Drawing the eye is the beautiful inglenook fireplace, where a wood burning stove is the cosiest addition for post-dinner drinks.

Stretch out in style with a choice of seating available, from the eye-catching, green velvet sofa to the sheepskin draped wooden mid-century recliners.

Savour culinary creations within the pared-back, sunken dining area, complete with reclaimed herringbone parquet flooring and a cushioned window seat. Seating up to twelve guests is the large banquet table, where tidal views over the Camel Estuary makes for a heavenly dinner party addition.

On the ground floor, you will also find a laundry room, with a farmhouse sink, a washing machine and a tumble dryer and the unique addition of a laundry chute. In addition, there is a downstairs WC, complete with an antique 1940's New York sink.

An aesthetic dream with an exposed stone chimney and a stunning open fire, the formal living space is a heavenly space to settle. Gathering in front of the fire are a selection of plump, jewel-toned sofas for the whole party to indulge in fireside conversation. For movie nights, there is a large projector and 5.1 surround sound for the ultimate cinema experience.

For those looking for a quiet spot to withdraw, escape through a set of timber sliding doors to discover the snug, endlessly cosy with dark-chocolate walls, elegant period furniture and vibrantly coloured artwork and furnishings. Anchoring the space is a biscuit-toned corner sofa, resting adjacent to a 55-inch Smart TV, complete with gaming consoles for the little ones to enjoy.

Sleeping and bathing

There are six equally beautiful bedrooms to choose from at Nahla.

Settled on the ground floor is the Family Room, endlessly inviting with creamy hues and a super-king wooden bed topped with cosy throws. Promising a tranquil space to gather, verdant country scenes and decking await through the expansive glass doors. A wooden ladder leads to a cosy mezzanine cabin for two, whilst adjacent is the wood-clad bathroom suite, where a French cast-iron bathtub lies beside a pretty picture window, offering the dreamiest bath time views. There is also a spacious walk-in wet room, with cactus green tiling and a separate toilet.

Upstairs, tranquillity resides in the romantic master bedroom, where muted pink walls contrast beautifully with forest green linens accents and luxury fringed lamps by House of Hackney. Featuring a super-king size bed draped with soft cotton sheets and a cream sheepskin, a mid-century Danish dressing table with antique baroque mirror, a rattan walk-in dressing area and an antique carved armoire, glass sliding doors lead to the spacious deck, where you can sip early morning lattes with a view.

Embellished with reclaimed arabesque terracotta tiles, seek serene self-care moments in the luxurious Mediterranean style en suite, complete with an antique claw foot bathtub, a large walk-in shower with a rainfall head and a double sink unit, topped with a pair of rustic limestone basins.

Along the corridor, discover another peaceful bedroom, in calming neutral shades with equally soothing scenery. Minimalistic in style, you'll find a 6ft zip and link bed, a wooden dressing table and nostalgic artwork.

Lingering lie-ins await in the next bedroom, featuring a vaulted ceiling and a green botanical upholstered 6ft zip and link bed. Alongside a wardrobe and an antique writing desk with shelving, there is also a wooden window seat made for admiring woodland vistas.

Nestled at the end of the corridor is the final bedroom, with a wall-mounted leopard print headboard and a 6ft zip and link bed, wardrobe and a writing desk with chair. Beautifully softened with a mid-century aesthetic and greenery, this is a sumptuous space to return after moments uncovering North Cornwall's unwavering charm.

Tucked at the end of the hall is the sleek family bathroom with a traditional sink, where a built-in bathtub is framed by sheer floral voiles, whilst adjacent is a shared shower room, with olive green Lume Musk tiles and stylish micro-cement walls.

Annexe

Accessed through a secret door in the Family Room (or an external side door), uncover the private suite for two, adorned with blackened oak floorboards and luxurious textiles. A cosy open plan living and kitchen space awaits with a mustard velvet sofa and Smart TV, along with a solid pine kitchen space, complete with an electric oven and hob, Smeg Fridge, and a walnut dining table for two. The stylishly simplistic bedroom features a king-size bed hugged by rustic pendant lighting, with a free-standing antique bathtub opposite. In addition, there is a shower room, embellished with pink tumbled marble and antique brass fittings.

Outdoor space

Artfully designed with seamless outdoor-indoor living in mind, draw open the kitchen's sliding doors on the ground floor to unveil the first of the spellbinding alfresco spaces, where breathtaking views set the scene for golden hour tipples on the outdoor sofas and various loungers. Sheltered by a wall draped in climbing lilac, discover an outdoor wooden refectory table and wicker chairs for twelve, where a barbeque is on hand for alfresco meals in the summer months.

Accessible from four of the divine bedrooms is the expansive first floor balcony, wrapping around the east elevation, it promises both panoramic views of patchwork rural countryside and the sparkling waters of the Camel Estuary. For yoga enthusiasts, there is also plenty of space available for a calming outdoor session, accompanied by tranquil vistas of the surrounding countryside.

Nestled within ancient stone walls is Nahla's expansive, east-facing garden, where verdant lawns and enchanting private woodland look towards the magnificent estuary scenes which lie beyond the retreat. A serene setting beautifully bordered with Mediterranean and Cornish planting and complete with a herb garden for guests' perusal, stroll along the wildly blooming walled garden towards the steep wooded valley, where a calming stream and stunning ferns invite for moments of exploration.

For the seekers of dreamy staycation pastimes, wander to the lower gardens to discover the secluded outdoor pool. Heated from April to October, this is a heavenly addition for those looking to spend sun-kissed days swimming lengths in cooling waters or unwinding poolside on the choice of luxe wooden loungers. Just opposite lies the unique games bunker, offering a pool table for competitive guests. There is also an outdoor tap for rinsing sandy beach equipment.
