'Shippen' may mean 'cowshed' in Old English, but this smartly-converted barn set in 75 acres of farmland has definitely shrugged off that mantle! With Cornish slate floors throughout, bespoke fitted furniture and carefully considered decor, this one-level retreat also benefits from its own patio (which sees most of the sun during the day), use of a rear shared courtyard and a stunning heated indoor swimming pool, steam room, gym and deck overlooking the countryside. Quality and comfort are the priority here, and being close to Padstow and the wilds of the North coast makes this an exceptional property to head out and explore from. It's also very dog-friendly, so bring along your pooch for some exceptional walking.

Living

Steps lead down to the front door which opens into the living area which boasts a roaring wood-burner for when the days are a little cooler, a grey, soft-leather corner sofa for lounging and a huge flat screen TV/DVD (complete with full Sky package so you don't miss out on THAT series and for must-do film nights). Double doors swing out to a rear communal courtyard so that on warmer days you can bring the outside in. There's some fantastic artwork to be found, including a stunning piece by local artist Jethro Jackson which takes up the majority of the far wall. Cool colours bring a peaceful feel to the room, with just a hint of the sea.

Eating

The bespoke kitchen is lovely with cream cabinets, black granite work surfaces and royal blue tiling. It's fantastically equipped too for budding chefs and includes a gas hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The dining area is just a step away with a large round table, perfect for long luxurious meals. In the private patio you'll find a barbeque and a set of tables and chairs, perfect for a spot of al fresco dining. Trevear Farm produce their own meat, which is available to buy on site - perfect for BBQs and Sunday roasts.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Trevear Shippen:

Love Trevear farm and cannot wait to visit again! We have been before, location is perfect, the facilities were 5* and holiday home was spotless with everything you could need for your stay

Trevear Farm is so well cared for, pristine and always a delight to stay at. The pool, gym and farm shop offer ‘extras’ which make the holiday very special and the Hypnos beds and hot showers make for a restful and relaxing time. Sam and Rachel are perfect hosts…on hand if you need them but unobtrusive if you don’t. Our 5th visit so far and feels like we are coming home!
