Set in the blissfully beautiful Portmellon Cove near the seaside town of Mevagissey and nestled right on the waterfront, this little darling (pronounced 'an dygee' and meaning small cottage in Cornish) is simply divine and perfect for both couples and single travellers alike.

Step inside and you'll find a shipshape home, with a jaunty wink to its coastal heritage reflected in its décor. Small but perfectly formed, this is an idyllic getaway perfect for short breaks or longer getaways, with everything on hand just a short stroll away.

Portmellon Cove is on the south Cornish coast and so An Dyji is perfectly positioned to explore this beautiful stretch of coastline, from Fowey to the east to Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula on the west, whilst Mevagissey is just a 10-15 minute walk away.

Living and eating

Located upstairs to make the most of the extraordinary views, the gorgeous living space with exposed stone walls, decorative feature fireplace, wooden flooring and underfloor heating is a beautiful and cosy space. A welcoming pale blue sofa is just perfect for cuddling up on (or stretching out on!), whilst an old chest makes a perfect coffee table. An HD TV is available for evenings in with complimentary Netflix, whilst a SONOS sound system means you can make a memorable soundtrack to your stay.

To the back of the room lies the ever so clever kitchen - don't let its diminutiveness deceive you - it's home to everything you might need during your stay, from the Siemens hob and cooker with built-in microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, Smeg accessories and kettle tap. For dining, we just love the little breakfast bar and stools, whilst there's a dining table and chairs for alfresco eating too.

Set on the ground floor, the super-cute bedroom is simply perfect for retiring to at the end of a day out exploring. A lovely double bed with Hypnos mattress, White Company Egyptian cotton linen and the softest of bedding awaits to whisk you off to the land of nod, whilst we just adore the lobster cushions! In addition, there's a hanging rail, chest of drawers, under bed storage and a SONOS sound system. Both the window and stable doors look over the sea.

The en suite shower room comes complete with a walk-in shower with rainfall head and heated towel rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

With its own tiny terrace overlooking the cove and sea, this is the perfect spot for a table and chairs with the prettiest setting; enjoy meals alfresco, whether it's watching the boats tootle to and fro over breakfast or watching the sun set over the water.

You can pull up alongside the cottages to drop off/pick up and parking is easy to find in the pub car park (less than 100 yards away and about £25 for a weekly ticket) or alternatively there is usually plenty of on road parking.

Adults only

This is one of our adults only retreats.

One medium-sized dog is welcome at An Dyji. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

An Dyji has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world, you can.

In the Area

You've plenty to do right on your doorstep at An Dyji! Portmellon Cove is a delightfully sleepy spot but it's just a short 10 - 15-minute walk to the historical harbour of the 14th century working fishing village of Mevagissey, so you'll have the best of both worlds! Portmellon has its own great pub The Sun, just 100 yards away, plus a little coffee bar. Alternatively, head amongst the hustle and bustle of Mevagissey and you'll find lots of great places to eat and drink which showcase the best in local produce. Whilst you're here try your hand at crabbing, take a deep-sea fishing trip, take a few Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) lessons and you'll feel like a local in no time! You're also right on the South West Coastal Path for extraordinary coastal walks, whether on a glorious summer's day or for a brisk wintery stroll.

Pop in the car and explore the pretty south coast where you will discover many hidden beaches from Gorran Haven, Perhaver, Caerhays at the Castle to Pentewan sands and more; there's Fowey just up the coast a little - the hometown of Daphne De Maurier. Head west and you can explore the lovely Roseland Peninsula, St Mawes, Porthscatho, Falmouth, the Lizard and on towards Mousehole and the Minack Theatre. The north coast is about 50 minutes away where you can explore Padstow, the Camel Estuary and the gorgeous coastline around St Agnes, made famous again by BBC's Poldark.

Additionally, just a short drive away are the world-renowned Lost Gardens of Heligan (five minutes) The Eden Project (twenty minutes) and Charlestown (which doubled as Truro in Poldark) about fifteen minutes away.

This bijou beauty on the water's edge close to Mevagissey is a treat for couples; a bolthole away from it all with stunning interiors that's dog friendly too.

Cornwall is home to many beautiful beaches: the golden frontiers between land and sea. But which are the longest beaches in Cornwall, and where can you find them?

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about An Dyji:

A wonderful retreat - amazing to both go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the waves only a few meters away - magical.

An Dyji is in a beautiful location, to me this is what makes our stay in this cozy little cottage - listening to the sea to wake to and sleep to. It’s designed to a high standard with all you require. Our second stay in beautiful Mevagissey.

It was amazing in a perfect location amazing view’s everything you could need in the cottage

There was a very nice welcome- basket when we arrived. It’s a cosy, little cottage.

Adorable and immaculate! Amazing views and sounds of the water!

Fabulous location, will be recommending to our friends and family, hope to return again for a very relaxing holiday.

Amazing stay for two people

Portmellon is a magical place. The cottage was perfect for our stay. Lovely walk into Mevagissey every evening with stunning views of the harbour. Lovely pubs and restaurants, The Sharksfinn The Ship and The Fountain and the Cellar Bar with a bit of karaoke on Thursday nights ! Such good fun, nice friendly people. Our cottage was sweet and welcoming. Lovely lighting and cosy furniture and fittings with spectacular views from every window. A special place in my heart and memories to cherish ..... X

Perfect for our minimoon

Fabulous views and very cosy cottage. Could sit outside all day just looking at the sea.

Fantastic cottage with hosts providing everything you need for a great relaxing holiday

A perfect location for exploring this part of Cornwall. An ideal spot to enjoy the community of Mevagissey, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location with plenty to do in walking distance. Had the most amazingly relaxing week. Cottage so comfortable, and really well equipped with a fabulous welcome pack. Emma, the owner was so kind and helpful. Will definitely return. Met so many lovely people - locals and tourists alike.

This is a lovely cosy cottage, perfectly located for coastal walks, with an amazing sea view too.

Beautiful tranquil retreat.

An Dyji is a beautifully designed retreat with an amazing location and views. We feel like we have found the most special place to holiday with our dog and can’t wait to return again.

Lovely modern interior of a historic well located property

Perfect cottage in a perfect location. Highly recommended.

A beautiful seaside retreat that exceeded our expectations. Full of high end fixtures and fittings & the welcoming hamper was the icing on the cake!

An Dyji was perfect in every way for our romantic weekend, warm and cosy with everything you could need. The interior is well designed and nicely furnished the view is amazing overlooking Portmellon cove. The daily sightings of the seal in the bay and the amazing welcome hamper that was waiting for us when we arrived made us feel very special indeed. We are hoping to return !

Absolutely stunning location, so peaceful and relaxing, a perfect escape to unwind.

Perfect location one of the oldest cottages in Portmellon. Great for walking.

Absolutely lovely!! Normally we head to north Cornwall but decided to visit the Mevagissey area this year for a few days and we loved it! The location of this apartment is beautiful overlooking the sea and the accommodation is really charming and very well done! Thankyou so much also for the welcome gifts, scones, milk, fresh bread etc, a lovely touch and most appreciated. No complaints what-so- ever! We would certainly recommend!

This is a perfect cosy hideaway for 2, with views you just want to bottle and take home with you. Loved every minute of our stay....thank you Emma & Scott.

Wonderfully quaint and comfortable

Gorgeous cottage set in a beautiful location. A real relaxing escape.

What can we say other than WOW. The view, the location, the thoughtful touches. We were already looking at dates to rebook before our holiday was even over.

A perfect cottage in a perfect location! Cleverly designed to make the most of a small space. We had a very restful few days exploring the coast, and always looked forward to returning for a glass of wine overlooking Portmellon bay.

This was the most perfect cottage and we had an amazing few days here.

An Dyji was a lovely little cottage. Perfect for a short break with our dog. It was really nicely furnished, with lots of little touches to make the stay amazing, and a great welcome hamper. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing to note is that it is located in Portmellon, Mevagissy is a 15-20min walk away, not an issue but would have been nice to know.

Beautiful bijou escape. Excellent location that didn’t always require a car as there were coastal walks, kayak hire and a decent town only a short walk away. The cottage is beautifully appointed with a lovely welcome hamper and attentive service from the owner. Comfy bed with high quality bedding and towels/bathrobes. Thank you.
