Living and dining

The open-plan living space is just perfect for entertaining and relaxing with huge floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open out onto the terrace with incredible views over the village and out across Gerrans Bay. Gorgeous wooden floors have sumptuous underfloor heating so in cooler months toes are kept toasty warm, and the simple white décor keeps things chicly simple. To one side you have the living area where you'll find two large Loaf sofas and an armchair nestled around the contemporary wood burning stove - perfect for families or friends to gather around and while away an evening. In addition, there's a huge Smart TV and Bose sound system to keep you entertained and fab cards and board games if you fancy something traditional!

The other side of the room is dedicated to the kitchen and dining area. The sleek fitted kitchen and worktops hide all the kitchen equipment and appliances you'll need to rustle up feasts and snacks for your loved ones, whilst the island offers plenty of prep space should you need it. The dining area is to the side and the table comfortably seats eight, whilst there's a further table and chairs on the terrace for alfresco dining during warmer weather. In addition, there's a utility room with all the necessary laundry appliances should you need it.

Sleeping

There are four gorgeous bedrooms at Spindrift, two of which are en suite. The master en suite bedroom is at the top of the house and has a tall, vaulted ceiling with floor-to-ceiling glass windows leading out to a private balcony with views over the rooftops to the sea beyond. With wooden floors, wooden furniture and a super-cosy king size bed, this is a lovely paired-back room offering a peaceful escape from the world. The second king size bedroom is on the first floor whilst the third en suite king size bedroom is on the ground floor - both are in shades of grey and white, whilst the forth bedroom, a twin, is also on the ground floor - perfect for children.

Bathing

There are four bath and shower rooms at Spindrift. The master bedroom en suite has a huge walk in shower and fabulous roll-top freestanding bath. The second en suite (on the ground floor) is a shower room with large walk in shower. In addition, there is a further two shower rooms - one on the first floor opposite the bedroom with spacious walk-in shower, the other, a wet room on the ground floor, with eye-catching pebble walk-in shower near to the twin bedroom. All come with heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

With sun-drenched terraces and balconies, this is a lovely spot to kick back and relax, gazing at the sea views with a glass of something special in hand. In front of the main living space you'll find a large raised terrace with plenty of comfy seating to relax in. In addition, the three-tier terraced garden offers first a summer room and space to BBQ, followed by a raised decking with dining table and chairs perfect for meals outside during a summer sunset.

Parking

There are two designated private parking bays at Spindrift. Access down the private road is narrow and can be tricky for very large vehicles. Should you have more than two cars, parking can usually be found around the village. Please note that parking restrictions apply between 1st June - 30th September so make sure you read the signs. Additional Pay and Display parking can be found up the hill towards Gerrans near the doctor’s surgery and heading out of the village on New Road.

There is an electric vehicle charging point at Spindrift, should you need to charge your car.

Babies

A cot and highchair can be provided on request. Please bring your own bedding for the cot.

Dogs

Up to two dogs are very welcome. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

WiFi

Spindrift has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

In the Area

Portscatho is a traditional fishing village, with a small harbour, on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, situated on the south coast of Cornwall. Pretty and pastoral, with hidden coves and beaches, this side of the county is much softer and more protected than its rugged neighbour the north coast. There's so much to do in this wonderful part of Cornwall, whether it's exploring the beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan, Carne and Pendower, walking the stunning South West Coastal Path or visiting the plethora of gardens which make the most of the warmer climate - such as Trelissick Gardens or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. With lots of great places to eat and drink, you'll be spoilt for choice. The local pub, The Plume of Feathers, where a warm welcome from the owners Roger & Helen is guaranteed, is in the heart of the village and serves great pub food. The Harbour Club enjoys fantastic views of Gerrans Bay from its large balcony and welcomes visitors for a nominal members fee. From Tatums Taverna, the newly established restaurant below, owned by Cornwall's chef of the moment, Simon Stallard of Hidden Hut fame, you can enjoy wonderful, locally produced food from the simple open grill in a bustling atmosphere, or order something to take away and for something a little different head to The Hidden Hut, situated on the cliffs above Porthcurnick Beach. If silver-service is your thing, The Driftwood Hotel boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant just a short hop away and just a few miles down the road in St Mawes, you will find the renown Tresanton and Idle Rocks Hotels.

The ultimate seaside retreat, this stylish home in Portscatho is perfect for larger groups, with epic sea views and tons of space. It's dog friendly too...

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Spindrift:

The house is beautiful with some amazing design features and views. The bedrooms and bathrooms are decorated really well and are all of a good size. The house was well equipped. Charles (homeowner) was very responsive and helpful. The village is a really great place to stay with great local pubs and walks.

The house was stunning with spectacular views of Portscatho Bay. There was even wine and cheese on arrival, fantastic. Would definitely recommend to friends. Boutique Retreats were also really helpful in helping me find a private chef for one of the nights.

A high quality house in an excellent location - we had a very enjoyable week.

Perfectly located and spacious property with views to die for. Beautifully designed and decorated.

Lovely location, beautiful views and spacious accommodation for two couples.

The property is stunning, in a beautiful village with views that are second to none, this was our third and will definitely be back again

Excellent location, well equipped, very comfortable, light and spacious.

We loved it so much we have booked again for later in the year!

A November stay in Spindrift was just lovely for us, the house is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and perfect for a relaxing time away. The garden terraces are very steep but for the time of year we didn’t need to use them, I’m sure they’re lovely in summertime.

We love staying here, it's a stunning location and beautiful house.

Perfect location for exploring or just enjoying the wonderful view, and the property was ideal for multi generational occupancy. Very well equiped.

Spindrift is very big and luxurious with a large decking area perfect for soaking up the sun and looking out to sea. Welcome pack/flowers were ideal when we arrived and settled in.

Lovely accommodation- perfect for a weekend stay. Welcome pack was good quality too.

Ideally located property in a great coastal village with good amenities. The property was clean and well maintained. It was perfect for a family holiday. An impressive modern house with fabulous views.

Fabulous house with beautiful views

The property is in a superb location with spectacular views from inside the property making it a great place to relax come rain or shine.

Fantastic place to stay for a quiet Cornish holiday. Plenty of nice walks, great local facilities and wonderful views from front sun terrace. Booked for next year already.

Spindrift is a wonderful property, comfortable, everything thought of, beautiful views, lovely walk to the neighbouring beach. Nice friendly pub, Plume of Feathers on doorstep. Road to property is tight for a big vehicle, but we were warned of that. Parking for two cars welcome as busy in the square. We had a lovely family holiday and would love to visit again. Would defiantly recommend.

The house exceeded my expectations, location was superb, pub did good take out food, right on top of the coastal path, and we had beautiful weather too! House decor was just lovely, I could easily live there, it had everything I could have wanted, and the bed linen was sumptuous. Would book this house again without hesitation.

I would recommend spindrift to anyone looking for excellent accommodation that is fabulously positioned and perfectly stocked . Adored our stay and already hoping to return. Parking a massive bonus in Cornwall as is the very lovely walkable pub !
