This sublime Georgian miller's house has been drawn seamlessly into the 21st century with pared-back contemporary interiors. Jabot White walls provide the perfect backdrop to the extensive modern art collection found throughout this stunning luxury homestay.

Any reservation placed at The Miller's House at Froe is provisional as we need to check availability with the owner before confirming a booking.

The Miller's House has underfloor heating throughout making it toasty warm at all times. The slate-floored entrance hall is lined with oak benches so you can kick off your shoes, drop the beach bags and head into the sitting-room to relax on the slouchy corner sofa in front of the big TV or snuggle in front of the roaring log fire.

Huge glass doors lead out onto the terrace which directly overlooks the creek that comes up to Froe's private quay. There are glorious water views on both sides of the kitchen whilst the terrace and bespoke slate outdoor dining table is a magical place to sit in the evening with a glass of fizz, watching the sun go down over the creek. The huge light-filled kitchen has sleek white units, a top-of-the-range steam oven and a big island unit. Two vintage leather armchairs flank the wood burner so be first to call dibs on these at the end of dinner. Big pendant lights reclaimed from the Rover car factory hang low over the oak Conran refectory table and Eames chairs. French doors look out over the mill pool where the resident swans glide effortlessly over the water.

There are three en suite double bedrooms in The Miller's House at Froe. The master bedroom is stunning, it has a vaulted ceiling, a dressing area and a bathroom with a claw foot bath and walk in shower. It also has two sets of sliding doors which lead onto a glass sided balcony so you can lie in both the bed and the bath to watch the tide ebb and flow in the creek. The second double bedroom has beautiful views over the garden and mill pool and a bathroom with slate basins and a slate sided bath. The third double bedroom is cosy and snug and has an en suite shower room. Wonderfully comfortable beds, crisp white linens and goose down duvets will have you sleeping like a baby from the moment your head touches the pillow.

Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a luxurious bath or a shower room boasting a big walk in shower, there is also a ground floor cloakroom.

The Miller's House has wide slate terraces on two sides overlooking the creek and mill pool with lawns below leading down to planted borders and the water's edge. You can arrive by boat (by prior arrangement and at additional cost) at high tide - there is 600ft of private river frontage and a private pontoon - and swim, canoe or kayak in the mill pool. The Coach House has its own courtyard with slate chip pathways, abundantly planted borders and a sitting area overlooking the creek, with a doorway through an old stone wall into the gardens surrounding The Miller's House. There is a pathway through the adjacent woods which belong to Froe and across the fields to Towan beach, a lovely National Trust stretch of sand that is often deserted so you play pirates and shipwrecks to your heart's content. In order to keep the garden looking at its very best, the gardener requires access to the grounds once a week.

Please note that The Coach House and the small white building nearest the water's edge are unoccupied during guests' stay, The Miller's House and grounds are completely private to you during your holiday.

There is plenty of private parking at Froe, enough space for at least eight cars.

The houses are perfectly placed to explore nearby Portscatho, St Mawes, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Portloe and Charlestown.

The Watch House restaurant is in beautiful St Mawes overlooking the inner harbour with views out towards St Anthonys Head and offers fabulous menus in a great location.

Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes overlooks the water and has a superb reputation (owned by Olga Pollizi, the renowned hotelier and daughter of the late hotel magnate Lord Forte). This is a fantastic place to eat, whether it's lunch, a cream tea or a wonderful evening meal.

Driftwood is a fabulous boutique beach house hotel (again with amazing sea views) just outside Portscatho, with a Cornish-bred Michelin starred chef, Chris Eden.

The Rosevine is also near Portscatho, a New England-inspired get-away with a laid back feel. Wonderful location and wonderful food.

And for something just a little different......try The Hidden Hut beach cafe, found beside the coastal footpath and only accessible on foot....but we certainly think it's worth the walk. It's a wooden beach-side shed serving simple fresh food and drink from March through to October. In theory everything is to take away, but there's an outdoor seating area to the front with uninterrupted views out to sea and across the bay to Portscatho should you wish to sit down and relax.

Book a treatment at The Nare Hotel, their Carne Bay Spa is open to non-residents and special packages are available which enable non-residents to use the hotel's fabulous facilities and enjoy a treatment in the Spa.

Go to the stunning beaches, Porthbean, Pendower and Carne Beach to name a few!

The Miller's House at Froe has WiFi, so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

A small, mature, well behaved dog may be considered. Please contact us to discuss. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Miller's House at Froe:

A wonderful, calm luxury retreat!

I've stayed in all types of 'up-market' accommodation over the years, some at eye-watering rates, but nothing has come anywhere near the pleasure you get at The Millers House for being able to distance yourself from the rest of humanity for a few days.Don't change a thing!

We felt as if we were guests in someone's home rather than a holiday let. Beautiful location and property - highly recommended!

'The garden and grounds were an unexpected delight and meeting Conrad who has charge of their care was a bonus. Tina’s availability was very reassuring, both before our stay and also when help was needed. The level of trust shown by the owners was much appreciated. Overall we felt more like guests and less like paying customers. Thank you.' - September 2018

'Our second visit here and we enjoyed every minute. The housekeeper was excellent and the gardener was also very informative about the local area. I would pay for a tour of the garden by him. Beautiful setting and we will return. Thank you.' - July 2018

'A wonderful holiday retreat in a splendid setting.' - June 2018

'We had a fabulous stay at Froe. Location was idyllic and the views were phenomenal. We all thoroughly enjoyed the week.' - June 2018
