The cottage is quite stunning, what started life as part of a medieval courtyard house has been tweaked, caressed and lovingly restored and now stands proud as an incredibly stylish and comfortable cottage in a wonderful setting.

Living

Loaf sofas and armchairs grace the lovely sitting room. The slate floors have underfloor heating so are toasty on the toes.Netflix is provided on the TV and there is a great selection of DVDs and books so snuggle up on those sofas and unwind.

Eating

The kitchen is a joy for the cooks amongst you. All mod cons are provided including a dishwasher, along with all the equipment you could wish for. No doubt you will want to try all the wonderful local eateries nearby but for that night in, you have all you need.

Sleeping

There are three stunning bedrooms with great use of wallpapers, some from Neisha Crossland and others from Cole and Son. A fabulous kingsize bed in the master bedroom, stylish twins in another and quality bunk beds for the kids. There are deep soft mattresses, high thread count linens and clever use of throws and cushions plus bright designer fabrics at the windows. The beds are made up with duck down bedding however hypoallergenic can be provided if you prefer.

Bathing

A gorgeous claw foot bath in the en suite for the master bedroom and stunning family shower room with a large walk-in shower. Soak in a bubbly bath or refresh under a powerful drench shower and then wrap up in large soft towels.

Exploring

St Nectan is set in 120 acres of stunning grounds with woodlands and rivers to explore; this is a perfect rural escape for friends or family. Figgy Cottage sleeps 4 and is in the same grounds so both could be booked togther for a larger party.

A footpath from the grounds leads up to Doddiscombsleigh, home to the renowned Nobody Inn. The Manor Pub in Ashton offers gorgeous food and is just a half mile walk down the hill.

Enjoy amazing views from Haldon Belvedere otherwise known as Lawrence Castle, just five minutes away. Haldon Forest Park has lovely walks, bike trails, Go Ape and Segwaying. Exmouth has a great beach, sailing, wake boarding and within a 10 minute drive are wonderful walks at Kennick, Tottiford and Trenchford Reservoirs. Other places to explore are Canonteign Falls, Fingle Bridge, Castle Drogo, Devon Guild of Craftsmen - Bovey Tracey, Ashburton which is full of antique shops or take coastal walks on the cliffs at Teignmouth and Shaldon across the Teign estuary.

There are fabulous places to eat nearby; Gidleigh Park - a 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Endsleigh Hotel near Tavistock is accessed by a great car ride over the moor, Darts Farm at Exmouth is an award winning farm shop which sells everything plus has a delicious cafe, The Crab Shack in Teignmouth, The Turf pub overlooks the Exe and is accessed only on foot or by bike, it can also be reached by taking the ferry from Topsham across the estuary and last but not least, The River Exe Cafe which is a floating restaurant on the River Exe, which offers amazing food (summer season only).

Wedding venue

The Owners run The Great Barn which you see when you drive in the spectacular entrance. This is an amazing wedding venue of some renown and there is a smaller barn available for smaller parties, perfect if you're considering a special family celebration. These barns otherwise are only available when the cottages are unoccupied.

St Nectan is part of an ancient Devon manor found nestling in its own hidden valley in one of the prettiest villages in the Teign Valley, tucked under the edge of Dartmoor National Park and a short drive from the coast.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about St Nectan:

Felt instantly "on holiday" & relaxed as soon as we stepped into the cottage. Lovely touches that made you feel at home instantly, tea/coffee & biscuits a nice welcome :)

Just Lovely. Shame we probably won’t be able to visit again as we were only able to book our week due to Covid wedding cancellations.

A lovely, clean and well-appointed cottage surrounded by beautiful forest and stream. Emma, the owner, was very helpful and we really enjoyed ourselves exploring the area. Would recommend the cottage to our family and friends.

'Beautiful cottage. I want to redecorate my whole house in the soothing and tranquil tones. Everything of a very high spec. Quiet enough to feel totally surrounded by countryside (deer, foxes, all manner of birds including owls etc) yet 3 AMAZING pubs within walking distance across fields and easy access to both English Riviera coast and Dartmoor. Perfect. It was a 9:10 hols only losing 1 Mark because you need nerves of steel to drive those Devon lanes!' - October 2020
