Living and eating
The open plan living, dining and kitchen area offers the perfect space to come together, with the stunning sitting room set at the far end, followed by the dining room and then the kitchen, with underfloor heating throughout.
The beautiful sitting room in warm, dusky pink, soft greens and buff tones, is just a delight to retire to at the end of a busy day out exploring. With both windows and French doors leading out to the garden, this is a beautifully light space to escape the heat of the day, or in winter draw the curtains tight, light the cosy, gas wood burner and snuggle up with a glass of something extra special in hand on the two plumptuous sofas. There's also an Amazon Echo and Echo Dot throughout the house, you you can create the soundtrack to your holiday, should you wish to.
The heavenly open plan kitchen at the other end of the room is just a dream in exquisitely natural shades of green and white, with a Lacanche Cluny range cooker at its heart and underfloor heating to keep toes cosy. The fabulous central island provides plenty of space for prepping and serves as a breakfast bar (perfect for snacks on the go or watching the chef at work). The kitchen comes fully equipped with two dishwashers, a Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer with ice maker and chilled water tap, combi-microwave, and wine cooler plus all the other essentials you might need to rustle up feasts, whilst enjoying the DAB Roberts radio.
The dining area lies in the centre of the room and comfortably seats eight lucky people: the perfect setting for laid-back brunches and celebratory dinner parties.
In addition, there's a wonderful study just in case you must catch up with some work or an email or two, and you'll find the washing machine and tumble dryer in a utility room.
Sleeping
There are three elegant bedrooms to choose from, two upstairs and one on the ground floor.
On the ground floor is a charming king size bedroom which benefits from French windows leading out on to the patio and garden. Underfloor heating keeps this room extra cosy, and it comes with an en suite with walk in shower, making it perfect for those with limited mobility. We just love the original feature fireplace and the extra windows above the bed, making this a beautifully bright space for breakfast in bed.
Upstairs you'll find the two further bedrooms.
The first, with beautiful, vaulted ceiling, beams and wooden floor, also comes with a super comfy, French inspired king size bed as well as a lavish baby blue sofa, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The second can be set up either as twin beds or a king for flexible sleeping arrangements, and also boasts a vaulted ceiling, wooden floors, colourful Indian wardrobe and chest of drawers.
All of the beds come swathed in luxurious Portuguese linen, cushions and throws to ensure a blissful nights' sleep. In addition, there are beautiful luxurious Indian silk kimonos for every adult to waft about in.
Bathing
Knapp Cottage has a glorious family bathroom on the first floor complete with bath and overhead shower, whilst the downstairs en suite has a walk-in shower. Both come with heated rails to keep the organic cotton towels warm and fluffy. Both bathrooms are supplied with organic Dorset luxury toiletries.
Outdoor space
Step through the French windows in the sitting room and you'll discover a stunningly secluded and secure wraparound garden, tucked away from the world with its own potager garden with herbs for you to cook with. On the sun-soaked patio there's a teak dining table and chairs for alfresco meals complete with a Weber gas barbeque, whilst outside the downstairs bedroom there's a wrought iron table and chairs for two - just perfect for a morning coffee. In addition, there is a double lounger seat for relaxing on sunny afternoons and we just love the wooden tree seat; a wonderfully shady spot to escape the heat of the day. The courtyard at the front of Knapp Cottage faces West, so perfectly catches the afternoon sun - bliss!
