A sumptuous sofa and two occasional chairs offer plenty of space to relax and unwind, with the addition of a cute window seat at the far side of the room. A handsome wood burning stove rests proudly within a large inglenook fireplace for snug moments spent fireside. Light the fire and settle in for a cosy evening in front of the TV, with a Sky Glass package to cater to all your entertainment needs, with Netflix, Sky Movies, Sky Sports and BT Sports all available. There's also a Bluetooth speaker to soundtrack your favourite staycation playlist.

Retreat to the elegant snug with two comfortable armchairs, plush blankets, and a timeless open fire, settled within a beautiful cobble stone fireplace. Curl up in front of the flickering flames with a gripping book and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this soul soothing sanctuary. Tune into your favourite radio station on the Roberts radio and catch up on an email or two, with a rustic writing desk set before the cute cottage window.

Eating and dining

A charmingly modern kitchen can be found at the back of the retreat, with all your in-house chef could possibly need to create culinary masterpieces. You'll find a Smeg toaster and kettle, a fridge/freezer, Lacanche oven with gas hob, a washing machine and a dishwasher. A tumble drier can be found in the outside storeroom at the front of the cottage.

Steps lead from the lounge into the darling breakfast room, with a rustic table and rattan chairs for four, just made for pared back meals with those you hold dearest. On blue sky mornings, let the outside in through the sweet Dutch door as you sip fresh coffee and prepare your holiday itinerary.

There's underfloor heating in the kitchen and breakfast room to keep toes toasty and warm as you prepare meals.

Sleeping and bathing

On the first floor, you will find two equally beautiful bedrooms.

The master bedroom is a neutral dream, with an exquisite king-sized bed, dressed in sumptuous linens and soft-toned cushions and throws to ensure a blissful night's sleep. With two chest of drawers and a wardrobe, there's ample storage space, plus a rustic dressing table.

Bedroom two has quirky copper bed frames which beautifully complement the harmonious oatmeal-hued interiors. For flexible sleeping arrangements, the beds can be set as twins or as a king-sized bed. You'll also find a built-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers to store your belongings.

The carefully curated interiors continue into the family bathroom, with a large walk-in shower with a rainfall head and handheld attachment. Bramley products ensure a touch of luxury for your wake-me-up moments, and a heated towel rail guarantees towels are kept fluffy and warm. There's also the luxurious addition of underfloor heating for those cosy living moments.

Outside space

On the lower level, you will find a Weber barbeque and an outdoor dining table with cushioned seating for four, plus a large parasol for meals alfresco on balmy summer days. Steps lead up to the luscious lawn, following onto the raised terrace, where you will find two rattan lounge chairs and a firepit for keeping warm under moonlit skies. We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Laurel Cottage:

Laurel Cottage was absolutely stunning. The interior of the cottage was beautiful, just as the online photographs portrayed. The attention to detail was second to none. The perfect stay in beautiful surroundings. Thank you

Beautifully present and well equipped house, we have had a wonderful stay. Had a fantastic walk in the delightful Castle Combe. We had a lovely day in Bleinheim Palace and enjoyed a surprise fashion show on arrival. Thank you, we had a brilliant time.

Lovely Cottage, delightfully attired

This is one of the most peaceful and relaxing holiday cottages. I stayed here on my own for a few days of 'me' time whilst in the midst of a career change. The interiors are beautifully curated, comfortable and with all the equipment and facilities you could need. The garden is just stunning and the location is very peaceful, even with the pub so close by (which was a delight to eat at too). Lilli the owner is highly responsive to any questions and super friendly even after the stay. I would highly recommend this and hope to return with my husband to enjoy the garden during summertime.

Southrop is quite a remote and very quiet village on the edge of the Cotswolds, great for long flat walks into the surrounding countryside and fields.

Laurel Cottage is a beautiful and well-presented property with an incredible eye for detail. It was a magical stay with beautiful surroundings. We hope to be able to stay again in the future!

The Laurel Cottage experience surpass our expectations. Beautifully renovated with top notch equipments and finishing while keeping the charm and comfort of an English retreat. Calm place located near to restaurant, pub and lovely country side.

A huge thank you for such a wonderful long weekend stay in your welcoming, homely and warm cottage. We had a fantastic time enjoying the comforts of your home and wandering the surrounding area. We will be sure to return and recommend Laurel Cottage to others.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. We are blown away with the beauty and charm! There is not anything you have not thought about to make it a home from home experience. Everything is beautifully chosen and presented and spotless clean! We cannot wait to visit again. Thank you so much.

An absolutely wonderful cottage. Beautifully appointed and maintained. A comfortable base to return to after a day out exploring the countryside and points of interest so conveniently accessible to Southrop. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laurel Cottage. It is so beautifully finished, immaculate throughout and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need! A real home from home. The tranquillity of the location further enhanced our stay, and we really enjoyed the lovely garden as well as the cottage itself, lingering there before going out and about, then looking forward to returning at night. Thank you, Lilli, for providing such a beautiful retreat for us to enjoy. Our stay both relaxed and refreshed us. We were sad to leave, but look forward to returning again in the future.

Our stay at Laurel Cottage has been absolute perfection! The cottage itself is absolutely stunning, the general vibe and all of the small details have made our stay a treat. We booked this inspired by The Holiday, and boy were our expecations surpassed. We have even cancelled some of our outdoor activities to spend more time here. It has made our holiday exceptional and we cannot wait to stay here again. Thank you very much.

Laurel Cottage is the perfect place to stay and explore the Cotswolds. Lilli, no expense has been spared to create a cosy, clean place to enjoy, the garden is beautiful and the decor very stylish. The fact we did not need to contact you speaks volumes. We hope to return in the future. Thank you.

Laurel Cottage is a MUST STAY if traveling to Southrop, UK. So many words to describe Laurel Cottage. Amazing, cosy, impeccable, and so much more. The owner, Lilli was fantastic in every way going above an beyond with every detail from communication, fresh flowers, eggs, butter, milk, champagne, artisan bread, a handwritten note and MUCH more. The interior was IMPECCABLY clean (I have VERY high standards) and the exterior gardens.... MY OH MY! A+++ Signed a US Traveler

The cottage was decorated and equiped to an extremely high specification. We had to have dealings with the owners, who were quite charming and most helpful. We could not have asked for more, we had a lovely holiday.

We have had such a lovely stay at Laurel Cottage in Southrop. Congratulations to the owner, it is beautifully appointed, and as such, we have been comfortable and felt very much at home.

The cottage was beautiful, and made to be so welcoming and comfortable. It was impeccably clean and thoughtfully stocked with almost everything we could need- and it was so kind to have such delicious milk, eggs, bread, butter, cookies, crisps, and prosecco provided. We loved it and would definitely return!

Beautiful cottage with stunning interior and garden.

One of the most beautiful and well equipped cottages we have stayed in over the past 4-5 years (and we have stayed on 8-10), very comfortable and with a stunning garden that we were able to relax in. In addition it is superbly located for ease of access in and around The Cotswold's that has so much to offer. We will be back (and if you want to sell it please call us)

Absolutely delightful property and area. We had a brilliant stay. The property was immaculate and well maintained. Lovely decor - extremely peaceful and relaxing. Property also had a fab garden and a great pub just down the road. Couldn't have wished for a better place to stay a long weekend!
