Living

A world of romantic rusticity resides in the traditional, cottage-style living room, where an exposed stone feature wall and original wood floors ensure endless cosiness in all seasons. From seamlessly layered textiles in delicate muted tones to a handsome wood burning stove, this beautiful room offers a homely space to gather. For stretching out in style, you'll find a sumptuous grey sofa for two, along with a pair of tan leather armchairs by Nkuku. At the opposite end of the space tucked underneath the staircase, an oak writing desk with chair is a perfect setting to chronicle your travel reveries. For entertainment, you'll find a Smart TV, a Radio and a Bluetooth speaker.

Please be mindful of little ones on the stairs, as they are quite steep in line with the characterful features of Myrtle Cottage.

Eating

Discover the traditional country kitchen and dining space, where reclaimed terracotta tiles and bespoke cabinets in Farrow and Ball's Templeton Pink promise the dreamiest of settings to rustle up culinary treasures for the whole party. A rustic kitchen island rests in the centre of the space, whilst you'll also find a Smeg oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, and a fridge-freezer. There is also a wooden dining table for four - perfect for laid-back brunches and formal feasts. Behind delicately dancing voiles, double doors open out to the sun-soaked patio, where a wooden table for four awaits for summer soirees spent under the shade of the pretty parasol.

Sleeping and bathing

There are two gorgeous bedrooms to choose from at Myrtle Cottage.

Promising a Victorian feature fireplace and a lacing of botanical touches, the master bedroom is a divine spot for interrupted countryside slumbers. A French, rattan super-king-sized bed tempts for lingering lie-ins under luxurious linens, whilst a wooden rail is perfect for hanging your finest garments. You'll also find an antique chest of drawers and hooks for further storage.

Equally rustic with a quirky feature hatch and a vaulted ceiling, the second bedroom offers a sanctuary to unwind. Here you'll find a king-sized bed dressed in an array of cosy linens, along with two bedside tables, a storage cupboard, a dressing table and a full-length mirror.

Next door is the captivating family bathroom, a dream in calming pinks and creams with oak accents. An antique copper bathtub awaits for bubble-topped evening soaks spent in low light, along with a spacious walk-in rainfall shower adorned in arabesque tiling.

You'll also find an additional WC with sink on the ground floor.

Outdoor space

Enchanting in all seasons, Myrtle Cottage's gorgeous, enclosed garden space offers a beautiful setting to revel in far-reaching lakeside vistas. Wrapping around the retreat is a terraced patio, where you'll find a multitude of corners curated for alfresco living moments. At the front of the cottage, a romantic firepit awaits with a table and chairs positioned to gaze over rolling countryscapes, along with a separate raised wooden deck to bask in golden hour glow with a glass in hand. Nestled beside a verdant field frequented by peacefully grazing cows and sheep is the heavenly wood-fired hot tub - a captivating spot to exist under the cosmos.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Myrtle Cottage :

A dream come true cottage experience in a beautiful, remote-feeling yet very well connected to cute villages with delicious eateries & deli, picturesque rural location. Nearby petting zoo and Yeo Valley Garden were fun, family friendly experiences. Cottage beds were super comfy, the kitchen was a joy to use and the breathtaking views were very enjoyable by the outdoor wood burner or from the fantastic outdoor hot tub. The whole property was decorated with impeccable taste, resulting in a cozy yet light and fresh feeling that immediately bout us a ease, and the host was very helpful and responsive. We had a wonderful stand and would love to come back in the future.

Myrtle Cottage is an absolute dream! Every interior space is so beautiful, thoughtfully curated and every corner is so homely. We enjoyed cosy evenings beside the wood burning stove, romantic meals in the gorgeously rustic kitchen and dining space, soothing soaks in the heavenly copper bathtub and delicious glasses of wine from the hamper on the fairytale terrace. The countryside and lake views were just heavenly - we will not forget hot tub dips with our curious neighbours. Our little weekend away was straight from a storybook and we are so sad to be leaving. We will definitely return for another rural escape at your beautiful home. Thank you so much!

Idyllic, rural setting with wonderful view over lake and surrounding countryside. Cosy, well-appointed cottage.

My husband and I had another wonderful stay at a Boutique Retreats property. Myrtle Cottage is picture perfect. The house is beautiful and the views are stunning. Waking up in the morning and opening the curtains to see nothing but nature is wonderful. The kitchen is so cosy, it makes cooking and dining at home a lovely intimate experience. The outdoor space is amazing and in the Summer months it will be a great place to relax. Our little dog loved her stay too, running up and down the garden, and curled up by the radiator in her own bed. Fabulous relaxing stay!

A beautiful stone cottage in the most wonderful location. We had a very relaxing stay.
