Deep in the Wiltshire countryside, this stunning cottage has been lovingly restored by its owner and has been transformed into a romantic retreat with more than a hint of France about it. With soft Bathstone walls and floors, cosy wood burners, a bath for two and a blissful hot tub, this is for those wanting a passionate pad in which to woo. It's also ideally located to explore Bath, that most beautiful of cities that evokes the drama and romance of Jane Austen, and the historical town of Bradford-on-Avon - all less than a two-hour drive from London.

Living

The large, striking sitting room is beautiful with exposed Bathstone walls, original Bathstone flag floors, wooden beam and large fire with Clearview wood burning stove. There's a pretty India Jane blue and cream patterned sofa, perfect for curling up together on, whilst there's another George Smith mohair chair for alone time, curled up with your favourite book. A 42-inch Smart television with a SONOS bar and an Amazon Fire tablet for accessing Sonos and Spotify provide the entertainment for evenings in. In addition, there are patio doors leading out on to the south facing front patio so you can bring the outside in on warmer days.

Eating

The gorgeous green Harvey Jones bespoke kitchen has everything you need to rustle up your favourite meals and snacks. With granite work surfaces, Miele oven, gas hob, large fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, there's everything you would expect plus a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, Dualit toaster and kettle for those hot drink essentials. Nestled next to the kitchen lies an OKA kitchen table and chairs for loved-up lunches and decadent dinners, whilst the floor to ceiling architecturally designed French windows beautifully link the kitchen to the outdoor space beyond.

Sleeping

Oh-so-romantic, the exquisite bedroom can be found up the oak and glass stairs. Spacious and airy, the vaulted ceiling boasts Velux windows which let in loads of light, whilst the beautiful exposed Bathstone walls and oak floor adds real character. There's a fabulous wood burner too, making the room super-cosy during cooler months. The lovely French-inspired bed is king size, and comes swathed in luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding, goose down quilt and pillows, plus French Bedroom bedspread and cushions - so you're guaranteed a blissful night's sleep. There's also a 42-inch Smart television and SONOS speaker for when you just want to stay in bed.

Bathing

Next to the bedroom is the gorgeous bathroom, deliciously warm with underfloor heating. There's a cast iron bathtub for two, perfect for long soaks after a day out exploring, and a huge walk-in shower with massive rain head - just what you need to wake you up in the morning. There's also a Sonos speaker so you can listen to your favourite tunes whilst you lather up.

Outdoor space

There are two lovely patio areas to the front and back of the house.

To the front, you'll find a lovely sunny spot with table and chairs and lots of lush planting. There is also a beautiful hand-crafted slate water feature.

To the back lies the jacuzzi hot tub tucked under an oak gazebo, Weber barbeque and another table and chairs for intimate alfresco meals a deux.

Setting

Burghope is situated in a quiet village. One of the many attractions of the cottage is the peace and tranquillity. We would kindly ask guests to respect our neighbours and refrain from playing loud music outside or whilst in the hot tub.

Parking

There is a private, off road parking space for one car, plus a fast charging electric car charging point.

WiFi

Burghope Cottage has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

Babies and children

Due to the stairs being open plan and hard flooring, this retreat is suitable for babes in arms only (under 6 months). A travel cot is provided on request.

A weekend of romantic bliss at Burghope

Hannah from the BR team heads to the Wiltshire countryside for a couple's weekend in our romantic abode for two…

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Burghope:

A beautiful cottage, everything we needed in a stunning location. Would definitely recommend

The cottage was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and cosy. A great location with a pub and farm shop within easy walking distance and an excellent bus service nearby if you don’t want the hassle of taking the car! We will definitely be visiting again.

Burghope Cottage is quite simply the perfect weekend retreat. Not only is the cottage immaculate, with high quality finishings, but Heather and Glyn have thought of every little detail. The hot tub was ready to hop into, the fires were both set to light and there was a selection of goodies to eat/drink. From the moment you enter the cottage you can truly relax and enjoy your time there. Loved every minute! Nicky & Steve

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful quiet location. Easy to catch the bus to Bath. The cottage had everything you could need and was finished to a very high standard. Loved the bath, open fire and hot tub. Thank you for a perfect place to rest and relax.

Burghope Cottage did not disappoint, the owners Heather and Glyn have an excellent eye for detail and comfort.

This is an ideal spot for a couple to escape the mania of the city and retreat into quiet, understated luxury for a weekend. The location of the cottage is perfect for long country walks and the village of Winsley has a lot to offer, including a charming local pub (Seven Stars). Heather and Glyn were welcoming and accommoding throughout, responding quickly to any questions and providing a great deal of context on local events and attractions. The city of Bath is 20 minutes away on a bus route that stops 100 yards from your front door.

Excellent

A beautiful 5 * cottage retreat renovated and furnished to a high standard with excellent attention to detail including lovely bedding, fluffy towels and slippers. All appliances are high end and every detail has been carefully chosen and considered to ensure guests have the perfect stay. The secluded hot tub is an added bonus. The cottage is located in a quiet village location with lovely countryside walks and has a good bus service to visit nearby Bath and Bradford Upon Avon. On arrival we were delighted to receive freshly baked bread butter, preserves, cheese and biscuits and a bottle of fizz. Many thanks to our hosts who were so welcoming and on hand to answer any questions.

Superb, lovely cottage and finished to a high standard

Lovely cottage, done to a really high spec and very comfortable. Super attentive host who provided all the info needed

1st class property. It was do good to see quality appliances and services within the cottage. Everything had been thought and catered for.

A very relaxing 5 star property, beautifully presented and an excellent welcome hamper. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Excellent accommodation.in a lovely quaint village, pub within a short walk from the cottage, Jacuzzi was superb, and well cared for. overall a great cottage for a restful break.

Perfect staycation in a beautiful cottage in a lovely village where every detail has been well thought out by the owners.

A perfect cottage in a perfect location. This cottage sets the standard of how every holiday property should be. Everything had been thought of to ensure our stay would be so enjoyable – from the fabulous welcome pack, every convenience you require, a very warm welcome from Heather the owner - with lots of useful local information - and it was especially so nice to have fresh flowers in the cottage and beautiful lavender pouches in every drawer. There are fabulous seating areas at both the front and back of the cottage so when the weather is fine you can enjoy your breakfast and evening meal in a sheltered spot in the morning or evening sunshine. The area is so peaceful and beautiful and we enjoyed walking straight from the cottage and only used the car once in the whole week we stayed. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday x

Fantastic break staying at Burghope Cottage, great location close enough to main roads whilst hearing nothing but birds singing. The cottage has an immaculate welcoming with lovely looking driveway and garden. Inside it's luxurious and beautifully decorated with really top quality decor and furnishings. Sonos sound system with multi room easily accessible with the Kindle tablet, the hosts really have thought of everything to make this an unforgettable vacation, right down to the high-thread cotton bedding. Lovely local walk along the canal into Bradford Upon Avon, bus stop 250yds away takes you into Bath for a mere £4 return ticket. Amazing cottage, amazing location.

Great communications from the owner. A lovely cottage in a pretty area. Lots of good and varied walking. Easy to visit Bath by bus from the bottom of the road. All round excellence!

Burghope was stunning. A beautiful little house in a lovely village location with a great local pub.

Would highly recommend this cottage. Maintained to a high spec and peaceful surroundings. Would definitely go back for another stay

Burghope Cottage was a stunning location for our recent break in the Cotswolds with so much to do it was difficult to make a choice.

Heather was excellent always making sure things were as they should be ,the hot tub was delightful ,after a busy day sightseeing. The accommodation was fantastic and of great quality exactly what we expected with the little touches that went above and beyond.

Burghope is the ideal couples retreat where you will want for nothing we hope return soon.

Chris & Dawn Wright

Absolutely beautiful cottage and Heather had thought of everything, so many brilliant little details such as toiletries, slippers, a lovely welcome hamper, and very detailed instructions! Would definitely go back and highly recommend for a romantic break.

Burghope is a beautifully decorated, comfortable and stylish cottage. It has all the necessary mod cons and is conveniently situated between Bath and Bradford On Avon. There are plenty of walks from the door step (you can even walk to Bradford on Avon) and there is a local pub nearby to rest your weary feet after a good walk! There is a farm shop within a short walking distance where you can enjoy a nice coffee/ lunch if you don't fancy cooking back at the cottage. The owners had thoughtfully decorated the cottage for Christmas which added a lovely personal touch to our stay.

What a wonderful house, and wonderful owners - I would not hesitate to recommend this to everyone I know (I already have to a few friends!) Simply stunning. One of the best places I have ever stayed.

Worthy of 5* all the small things that make it special were ticked, I.e Lots of hot water fantastic bathroom, fast WiFi, quality Hot tub , Cosy and warm/hot wood burners.

Just what we needed to relax and unwind. Local pub is fantastic with a great atmosphere and amazing food. A 10/10 property which has been lovingly renovated to a high standard. We will definitely return.

Everything about this cottage is delightful. Fittings and furnishings are of a high spec throughout and the hot tub is such a bonus. I was incredibly happy and comfortable there and would definitely book again. There are so many things to do locally and a bit further afield (I recommend Wild Wookey although it's not for the faint-hearted). I got very lucky with the weather too and loved having breakfast in the back garden and my evening g&t at the front. Felt more like Provence than Wiltshire!

A fabulous property in a wonderful location. First class amenities and very comfortable. A lovely place to spend a week to unwind. Highly recommend.

It has plenty of character in the French style with a high standard of finish and equipment. Our host came to greet us about an hour after our arrival and was most charming and helpful.

Burghope Cottage is the gold standard for what a holiday cottage should be. It was simply stunning, well-equipped with everything one could possibly need, comfortable, great location. We could live there permanently. Wonderful hosts who did an amazing job at creating this gorgeous cottage restoration, maintaining its original bones yet mixing in new with the old. We loved that it was not a typical designer cottage as so many seem to be. Burghope has its own wonderful character. We had an amazing stay.

Cannot imagine how anything about this cottage could be improved. This is the model for what a Boutique Retreat should be.

A lovely place to stay and relax, unwind and de-stress. You have everything you need here and more, including lots of information available to decide where to go and what to see. A wonderful cottage to enjoy.

A very special place to stay.

In a word - perfect! Super cute cottage in a tranquil village location. The interiors and equipment are top notch. The hot tub was a treat after a day out exploring. We had an excellent meal at The Seven Stars pub in the village and Hartley farm shop is nearby for provisions. We will most definitely return!

Beautiful location for walks and so close to Bath. Also convenient for trips to Bristol and Cheddar Gorge. Stunning venue, so lovely to spend time in the hot tub then cosy up in front of the fire of an evening. Lovely and helpful owners as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing get away.

Beautiful cottage, extremely well equipped and just a short stroll to the pub - Perfect!

Would highly recommend Burghope to any and everyone if you’re looking for a peaceful, comfortable and stylish stay in a stunning village location. It was very much a home away from home and loved every minute of our stay!

Beautifully executed renovation in a quiet village with easy access to Bath. We really enjoyed the cottage, including using the hot tub. The welcome texts from the owner checking our requirements were an unusual extra. The location is good for local walks as well as getting into Bath. It was a very relaxing place to stay. Highly recommended.

A great renovation of a traditional village cottage. Heather, who called round to ensure we had everything we needed, has done a fantastic job of providing luxury accommodation making the most of the space. There was plenty, actually loads of room for the two of us, including the bathroom and everything we needed was there from the kitchen saucepans (the same as we have at home, so we know not cheap!) to the bathroom fittings, everything is quality. The wood burners upstairs and down made the cottage very very cosy. Location also great as only about 10 minutes to Bath, where recommend Circus restaurant for welcoming staff and first class food and Scallop Shell, fish and chips to the next level.

Burghope Cottage is the most amazing place. Beautiful inside and out, its owners clearly have an eye for detail and have spared no expense to create the perfect home from home. The hot tub is an added bonus, ideal for relaxing in following a busy day of sightseeing. The cottage is located in a very pretty village with a pub serving good food just a short walk away. An even shorter walk away is a bus stop from which it is possible to catch a direct bus into Bath. We had a wonderful long weekend at Burghope and would love to return in the future.

We have stayed in many boutique properties and always, when choosing, aim for the most highest of standards - in terms of 5*+ luxury, attention to detail, location and perfect for couples wishing for a romantic get away, I do not think Burghope Cottage will be beaten - this is and should be a highly recommended property - we look forward to returning again.

Truly outstanding property and stay. All the small (and big) details were to the highest standards - the bedding was super, the bed very comfortable, the pans were perfect for cooking and of the highest quality and range, the log burners created so much warmth and were both laid with spare firewood prepared plus more available outside, I could go on and on but that sets the scene. The design was lovely - lots of character yet modern luxurious touches. Great location, the village has a lovely feel and the property is on such a quiet lane, it felt very private. I really enjoyed my stay.

Fabulous Cottage for two. Well appointed, immaculately presented and every item top quality. The owners were super helpful and made us very welcome.

Perfect in every way. Beautiful cottage, well stocked with everything you need in a lovely location. Didn’t need the car all week, used the bus within minutes walk for either direction. Local pub, The Seven Stars, great for dine in or takeaway and a well stocked farm shop within 15 minutes walk. Cannot commend this cottage highly enough; you get used to being disappointed with over rated ratings, but in this instance it was a lovely surprise. Congratulations Heather and Glyn, it was the best accommodation we have ever stayed in.

The cottage was a wonderful location to head out and explore the local walk - the 'wheel'. Lovely local pub and Farm Shop nearby to stock up on goodies. Fabulous furnishings to help soothe aching limbs after long autumnal walks and cosy fireplaces to 'toast' in front of during dark evenings. An excellent autumnal retreat

It was perfect.

Burghope Cottage and the village of Winsley are straight out of central casting for a charming English countryside experience. Our host Heather was on the spot with helpful advice and recommendations. Also appreciated upon arrival were the groceries and champagne! We can’t wait to return!

A perfect retreat for two the cottage is tastefully decorated, has all the modern conveniences you would expect and well provisioned in everything from towels to tin foil. A quiet location with a good pub just 250m away and a excellent farm shop/cafe 15 mins walk away this makes an excellent choice for those looking to hide away or explore the countryside.

From the lovely welcome basket, the well equipped kitchen, to the fabulous bedroom & bathroom we could not have asked for more. Heather came to welcome us & to make sure we were happy & Glyn was on hand for a minor query so all in all we had a fabulously comfortable break in this very beautiful cottage.

Beautiful. A real labour of love with great attention to detail.

The perfect getaway! All you need is to bring yourself. Everything you need is provided at the cottage so no need to bring anything from home. With a lovely pub and excellent farm shop all in walking distance, this is the best place to get away from it all and relax.

Stunning cottage in a beautiful village, with easy access to Bath and Bradford on Avon. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.

A well thought out cosy cottage.

Fantastic getaway treat - everything we needed and more. Furnished to a high standard and nice touches such as the welcome hamper. Great pub 2 minutes walk away rounded off a superb stay.

Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous setting. The owners where very welcoming.

A fantastic cottage. Met our high expectations.

Burghope was a warm, comfortable and inviting place to stay, we would certainly recommend.

Property was excellent and was so well equipped in lovely location in quiet village with welcoming village pub. Despite trying very hard we were unable to find any faults with this property! Our hosts, Heather and Glyn, were very pleasant and had clearly put in a great deal of thought into the conversion of this small house into a fablulous cottage for two.

Burghope Cottage is a beautiful. The cottage has been finished to a high standard and is well equipped; the hot tub, log burners and EV charging point are excellent features. The welcome hamper we were left by the owners was a lovely touch. It is in a tranquil location, but close enough to Bath and Bradford-on-Avon, with the bus conveniently stopping at the end of the road. We were sad to leave and we look forward to returning.

Everything we needed, a very well appointed cottage in a quiet location.

10/10 cottage. Highest standard of fit and fixtures presented perfectly. Lovely quiet location too, but close to great walks and a good local pub.

Beautiful, surpassed our expectations. The owners eye for detail and décor was amazing, you could also see and feel they had really poured their hearts into making is as stunning as it is. It was in a beautiful quiet location, ample parking, appliances in the house were perfect and the hot tub was an added bonus in a secluded garden.

Highly recommended. We were also greeted soon after arrival by the owner who familiarised us with the property and provided a nice welcome hamper. Lovely experience all round.

What a beautiful venue and place to stay. Recommend for any couple for any occasion. Owners should be extremely proud of their slice of heaven!

A beautiful and very well equipped cottage in a lovely rural village but close to the restaurants and history of Bath. We loved the local walking and nearby farm shop plus the convenience of the on-site EV charging point. A very relaxing place to stay.

Burghope Cottage is simply stunning. It was everything we were hoping for, beautifully presented in a quiet village location, yet within walking distance of the local pub and bus stop, both of which we used. We were sad to leave at the end of our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some peaceful luxury.

Stunning cottage in a fabulous location with options for a quiet country break whilst being close to beautiful Bath. The cottage is well stocked with kitchen appliances, storage cupboard essentials and luxury toiletries. Would highly recommend staying here.

Burghope Cottage in a word is 'perfect'! It's beautiful inside and out and looks exactly like the pictures. The cottage has been finished at the very highest standard and the owners have added so many little personal touches to make it extra special; champagne on arrival with a few nibbles, lots of firewood (which we definitely used) and the hot tub is pure luxury! Would highly recommend this little piece of heaven. Thank you Heather and Glyn for such a wonderful holiday and for all of your help and attention during our stay.

Wonderful cottage with everything we needed for a relaxing week. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, and is in a really peaceful spot in a quiet village with easy access to some lovely walks. The hosts had thought of everything, we loved it!

Burghope Cottage absolutely blew us away. It was fantastic in every way. We have stayed in many lovely places but this property has been the most luxurious and special. The kitchen was well equipped and even had Le Creuset pans! We used the log burners every day and the hot tub, a real pleasure and both very easy to use. The location is perfect, lots of lovely walks and a great pub and local farm shop and cafe in the village. We took the bus to Bath which was easy and only a couple of minutes from the cottage.

Had the most fantastic time at the cottage to celebrate our honeymoon. Really clean, warming and good location for walks or to just nip to the pub. We would fully recommend this Cottage to anyone and would love to stay again.

I would thoroughly recommend Burghope Cottage if you are looking for a luxury, relaxing and beautiful stay- we cannot wait to return
