Find big roasting open fires, a cosy and friendly atmosphere and a bountiful bar. The Castle Inn is the perfect spot for a post walk glass of port or supper in the bar and restaurant. Be it balmy enough to sit outside, head to the beer garden for Devonshire cream teas overlooking Lydford Castle.
Owners Rob and Sue are super friendly and have that Dartmoor patter down to a tee. The food is big and gregarious – think proper pub grub. It’s all traditional, home-cooked - though with a chef’s attention to detail – and wholesome stuff. Ingredients are sourced locally so you are sure to be eating fresh produce at its seasonal best.
Enjoy big char-grilled fillet steaks with grilled toms, mushrooms and chips as well as homemade proper beef & ale pie with local veggies and traditional tatties. There’s also, as you would expect, gammon, egg and chips on offer and an obscenely delicious beer battered haddock and chips. In typical pub-style food is served from 12pm-3 pm and 6-9 pm Monday - Sunday.
Get your fill of local lovely pub warmth and go large with pints, pies and pork-scratchings.
