Tintagel Castle, Cornwall

Tintagel Castle, Cornwall

Perched atop cliffs, facing defiantly out to the great Atlantic ocean, Tintagel Castle is an immense ruin, clinging to the rugged coastline and boasts spectacular views. Perfect for families with activities galore, it's also great for walkers as the South West Coast Path goes directly through the site. It's incredibly romantic too, being the setting for more than a few marriage proposals!

There are few more dramatic locations than the 13th century ruins of Tintagel Castle, clinging to the mainland atop a wave-lashed neck of granite. Conjure up images of knights on horseback or the Earl of Cornwall feasting in the great hall and get swept away by local legends that claim this to be the birthplace of King Arthur.
