One of the most spectacular stretches of beach on the north Cornish coast (and some would argue in the UK), this stunning swathe of golden sands, reaching three miles at low tide, is an absolute delight.
Easily accessible for all, Perranporth beach is brilliant for families and is also dog friendly all year. It has a lovely natural outdoor swimming pool filled with sea water for those a little fearful of actually plunging into the sea. Pack a picnic full of local goodies, or visit one of the many cafes in the village itself to fill hungry tummies.
Perranporth is also a fantastic surf spot, so if you’re a beginner, book in for some lessons (check out Perranporth Surf School) or grab your board and go.
If keeping on terra firma is more your cup of tea, the coastal path is spectacular along here, so don your boots and see just why this part of the country was so inspirational for Winston Graham, the author of Poldark. A walk to Ligger Point is lovely; just over two miles, it runs along the beach and past sand dunes alive with wildlife– but please be very aware of the tide as it comes in very quickly.
