With a menu dictated by the gardener or forager, it’s clear to see that The Pig is very much a kitchen in tune with the land – what can’t be grown in the kitchen garden is sourced within 25 miles. Food is uncomplicated and simple British fare, but so tasty you’ll not want to leave.
Chefs James and Andy certainly have it sussed in this fresh, inviting eatery. ‘Local’ is definitely the name of the game here with their motto of trying not to serve anything sourced over 25 miles away (they are 80% there). With incredible vegetable and fruit beds protected in walled gardens, a horde of animals such as pigs, sheep, chickens and quails as well as a smoke house, they don’t need to.
The menu includes delights such as Portland Crab Bake with garden pickles, Brill with Sea Purslane brown butter sauce and Hake with Dorset Clams, foraged sea beets and wild garlic. Oh, go on then.
