About as English as you can get, this lovely old inn is brim-full of character with open fires, parquet flooring and relics galore. Open the door and you’ll be whisked back in time, so pop in, find yourself a cosy corner and enjoy a pint of real ale (or local cider) or two and a hearty meal – yum!
The George serves real ales from the cask, Butcombe Bitter & Sharpe’s Doom Bar as well as Orchard Pig & Thatcher’s Ciders, with Wilkins cider (the local artisanal brew) available seasonally. At The George, their food ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, and seasonal produce is put to full use by their award-winning head chef Richard Sampson and his team – think rabbit and partridge pie and a cold seafood platter.
Food served Monday to Thursday: 12pm-2pm, 6pm-9pm Friday & Saturday:12pm-3pm, 6pm-9pm.
