Managed by the Lulworth Estate, Lulworth Cove is one of the best beaches in Dorset and comprises of a bowl-shaped cove with a narrow opening into the sea. With crystal clear waters meeting a pebble beach, it is a great spot for swimming and exploring, or simply sitting an admiring the views.
At high tide, a short walk across the pebbles rewards you with cool water to dip your toes into, whilst at low tide, the sea recedes to reveal lots of rock pools teeming with life. Look through these glassy windows and watch little sea creatures busy about in their underwater worlds, before returning your gaze to the surrounding cliffs and marvelling at the power of nature.
In the summer months, the sheltered cove is often home to anchored boats bobbing about and, thanks to the beach’s easy access, is a popular choice for many water-sport enthusiasts. From kayaking around the cove’s stunning formations to paddling in the shallows, you can take a step closer to nature.
Whatever the time of year though, Lulworth Cove is a sight to behold. With its striking physiography and panoramic views, come rain or shine you can lose yourself in its majesty.
For refreshments after a day’s exploring, a Beach Café can be found nearby serving drinks and snacks. There is also a heritage centre open daily exhibiting information and displays about the cove.
