On the southern edge of the Lizard Peninsula, Coverack village is characterised by steep roads running down towards a wide, sweeping beach. A working fishing village to this day, it retains a perennial authenticity and is a lively, thriving hub of activity, especially in the summer. Bathed in atmosphere and rich in history, you can enjoy both the beauty of the present and the romance of the past here.
If you are staying in Coverack for a while, it offers the perfect opportunity to ditch the car and stay local. One of few communities with ample shops and cafes within the village itself, there are plenty of places to pick up stocks and replenish hungry bellies with wholesome food. From restaurants to quirky cafes to seaside pubs, you can discover your favourite haunt and enjoy the friendly hospitality and excellent local cuisine. Of course, the harbour also provides an ideal spot to sit in the sunshine with a hearty portion of fish and chips too.
With such a vibrant natural playground on its doorstep, Coverack is extremely popular amongst families, sports enthusiasts and nature-lovers. Dog-friendly year-round, the village’s beach is a real family favourite at low tide when soft expanses of sand are revealed, ideal for little feet and dainty paws. Spend a few hours playing and swimming in the sea and warm yourself up with a cuppa. When the wind picks up, you can often see windsurfers making use of the conditions and twisting shapes above the sea.
If you really want to get to know Coverack, exploring the beach is only but the start. For keen walkers, a stroll along the South West Coast Path is a must. Taking you past beautiful countryside and spectacular ocean vistas, you can keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife along the way. If you decide to head south, a 10-minute walk along the coast path will take you to the Terence Coventry Sculpture Park, spread out across three small meadows and home to fantastic sculptures.
Summer haven and winter retreat, Coverack provides a wonderful escape throughout the year. Curl up in a cosy corner overlooking glassy seas or churning cauldrons and let Mother Nature win you over.
