Breaking the mould of typical whitewashed Cornish bistros, this once-16th century coaching inn now flaunts rough-luxe, rustic-industrial flair, peppered with antiqued furnishings, salvaged finds and warming tones.
Sporting an irrefutably contemporary edge alongside its eclectic menagerie, the dog-friendly Artist Residence’s clubhouse attracts those looking for wholesome food somewhere a little different. Open from morning until night and serving food from breakfast until dinner, you can don your high tops or high heels and look forward to morning coffees or evening cocktails.
On rainy days, the cosy interior of this unique hub with its intimate bar will welcome you into a warm embrace, while on more clement days the new alfresco terrace garden is the place to be. Bag your favourite spot and lounge, socialise and have fun. Equipped with its own bar, ping-pong table and a retractable roof, it’ll be your new favourite haunt in no time!
If you are having trouble deciding what to eat, the all-day and dinner menus cater for varied dietary requirements and include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Much of the restaurant’s produce and ingredients come from the local area to proffer a truly local menu if ever there was! It also has its own smokehouse for perfectly-cooked meats.
Along with its menu packed full of fresh, seasonal Cornish produce, the restaurant and bar complements each dish with a range of craft beers and wines from local independent vineyards. Thumb through the list of what’s available and treat yourself to a soft, hot or alcoholic drink to wash down your spread.
Breakfast is served daily from 7.30am to 11am; lunch is served from 12pm to 2.30pm Monday to Friday and 12pm to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays; and dinner is served from 6pm to 9pm daily. In summer, booking ahead is advised to avoid disappointment.
