A family-run farm and orchard in South Devon, Heron Valley has been making award-winning juices and cider for years. Passing on their artisan craft and secret recipes through generations of growers, fermenters and distillers, the family’s experience and dedication to producing the best traditional Devonshire ciders and beverages has seen their cidery become a firm favourite amongst locals and visitors alike. Working closely with local wildlife trusts, they also ensure that their orchards and pollinator-friendly meadows are a hit with local flora and fauna too. What’s not to love?

Only using the best whole fruit and raw ingredients to create their drinks, Heron Valley’s ethos revolves around a commitment to using the highest quality local ingredients and sustainable practices. Channelling authenticity and patience, they guarantee no pesticides, fungicides, sulphites, E numbers or nasty chemicals are involved at any stage. Growing some of the oldest heritage West Country apples on their farm and using rare and indigenous apples from local orchards nearby, their commitment to excellence is what truly sets their ciders and drinks apart. A great family-friendly attraction in South Devon, Heron Valley’s onsite dog-friendly café and bar is set amongst the farm’s orchards overlooking the stunning Avon River Valley. Offering covered indoor seating and a stunning outdoor courtyard garden, it perfectly sets the scene for leisurely breakfasts and languid lunches throughout the year. With a range of snacks and meals, hot brews and cold drinks, there’s something to satiate every appetite. There’s also a range of local cakes and pastries, too…

Once you’ve refuelled, secure bottles of your favourite beverage at Heron Valley’s shop. Here, you can pore over the farm’s delicious selection of juices, bubblies, mixers, ciders and even vinegars – each one made from the finest quality apples picked for their natural sweetness. With more than 30 different types of apples used, each drink is a celebration of Devonshire goodness and a wonderful taste sensation. As well as being vegan-friendly, they are also gluten and lactose-free, making for the perfect tipple for everyone.

Heading coastward, the beautiful beaches of South Devon trace the county’s borders with gorgeous golden sands and azure seas. Only a stone’s throw from the verdant countryside surrounding Heron Valley, these salt-kissed idylls are fantastic playgrounds for care-free days under beaming sunshine. Less than 10 miles away from the farm, Burgh Island is a particular favourite, famed for its striking Art Deco hotel (the inspiration behind several of Agatha Christie’s works) and seasonal sea tractor.
