Step through the doors of this traditional Cornish cottage and you'll instantly fall in love with its characterful beauty, where whitewashed, endearingly wonky walls enclose a warm, welcoming haven for all who enter. With calming neutral tones, aged wooden beams, stone and wood floors and exquisite furnishings throughout, Aphrodite promise a tranquil, calming space for both couples and families alike – and it’s dog friendly too. Whether you’re dreaming of cosying up fireside or looking to indulge in your favourite movie in the endlessly rustic cinema room, our heavenly country cottage promises the perfect home-from-home. Across the way is a hidden English country garden, where roses climb freely in the natural beauty of the secluded lawned area, where you’ll find sun loungers for sun-kissed days, along with a patio area to indulge in a summer BBQ or evenings spent stargazing on crystal-clear nights.

Set close to Bodmin Moor next to a traditional working farm, this is perfect for those who love to explore on foot, whilst its ideal location means it's easy to explore both the North and South Cornish coasts, from Boscastle and Tintagel to Looe and Polperro. Also nearby is the historic and beautiful Bodmin Moor and stunning Tamar Valley, whilst you can hop over the border to the market town of Tavistock and rugged Dartmoor. A perfect combination of both land and sea!

Living

The inviting sitting room, resplendent with a flickering wood burner, is a cosy nook for cooler months with sumptuous seating to relax on. During summer months, it's a haven away from the heat of the day, where windows can be left open to allow the scent of summer flowers and birdsong to carry through. We just love the stone flag floor, honey-coloured beams, occasional low ceiling and original stone fireplace which add so much character to this wonderful room.

For those wanting to catch up on their favourite films or series, there's a fabulous cinema room complete with a huge Smart TV, an endless supply of DVD's, internet access for your favourite streaming service - all you need to do is bring along the popcorn! You'll find a luxury three seater sofa, along with an additional two seater sofa for the whole party to stretch out in style.

Eating

As you enter through the lowered doorway into the traditional cottage kitchen complete with local black slate worktops, just wow! To say we've fallen in love with this seriously beautiful country kitchen is an understatement. The gorgeous cream Aga is the heart of the home, where its warmth spreads throughout the house like a welcoming blanket. In addition, a huge butcher block workstation and flagstone flooring help create an oh-so-pretty room to create meals, but don't be fooled - there's everything you could possibly need to create feasts for your loved ones, including a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washer-dryer, air fryer and the all-important coffee machine.

Next door there's a cosy dining room, just made for long leisurely meals. There's a Welsh dresser filled with lots of tableware and glassware, whilst those seeking a quiet spot can hide away in the window seat with a good book.

Sleeping

There are three stunning bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom on the first floor lies to the front and overlooks the cottage garden and rolling fields and countryside beyond. Complete with a king-sized bed, large ornate mirror, and plenty of hanging space, this is a beautiful room with original, aged wooden floors. The second bedroom also lies to the front and overlooks the garden. With pink-toned walls, a low-lying window, and wooden floor, it's as country chic as it gets, boasting a super-comfy double French-inspired bed. The third bedroom lies to the back of the cottage, offering a cosy space with a gorgeous king-sized bed.

Bathing

Upstairs you'll find the family bathroom complete with bath and overhead shower. In addition, there's a second loo downstairs.

Outdoor space

Step across the quiet lane and you'll discover the beautiful country cottage garden, where roses ramble across the trellis and scented flowers fill the borders that surround a small lawn. You can spend many a blissful hour here, whether it's reading that book that you've been meaning to delve into or purely to indulge in the simple pleasure of an afternoon snooze, where you'll drift off to the sound of the bees. To the back of the property is a wonderful, raised courtyard with dining table and chairs, perfect for alfresco meals, whilst a charcoal barbeque means you can cook outside too.

At the front of the property, you'll discover the Cinema/Linhay room, for those seeking either visual entertainment with the latest in Smart TV and streaming services or true peace and quiet with a little piece of paradise where inspiration can flow freely, whether you're an artist or a writer, or if you just need to catch up on an email or two at the desk which overlooks the garden.

Please note, for security purposes when the property is vacant, there is a CCTV camera located on the exterior of the cottage at Aphrodite. However, it will not be active or in use during guest stays.

There is private off-road parking for up to three cars.

The Longest Beaches in Cornwall

Cornwall is home to many beautiful beaches: the golden frontiers between land and sea. But which are the longest beaches in Cornwall, and where can you find them?

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Aphrodite:

Beautiful location for a calming retreat during any season. We loved the autumnal walks and farm shops. We all Wished we could live there !

‘Aphrodite is probably the prettiest cottage that we have come across and we have stayed in many over the years. The owner has filled her property with the most delightful collection of tasteful artefacts, carefully curated to enhance the experience of staying at the cottage. On arrival we loved the vine covered double fronted aspect and pushing open the front door we were met with wonderfully aromatic essential oil perfume from reed diffusers in every room that made the atmosphere delicious and even more welcoming. The owner had provided an exceptionally generous “welcome pack“ and this was much appreciated. It is very obvious that the Cottage, is far more than just a business venture and that the owner herself is totally in love with the place, lavishing upon it the utmost care and attention. The outside spaces are stunning including a pretty cottage garden style courtyard at the front with high quality cast-iron table and chairs, a raised seating area at the back of the property and an additional seating area in the absolutely superb secluded ‘secret’ garden situated across a narrow lane opposite the cottage. There is an abundance of planting and this all adds to the experience. An additional bonus was the quirky and fascinating “cinema room“ which Incorporated a huge television screen with built-in access to all the well-known streaming platforms and comfy sofas where it was possible to relax comfortably. We recommend the cottage highly. Spending time in this peaceful hamlet made for a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Thank you so much!

A lovely quirky, cosy cottage. Really enjoyed the cinema room and all the interesting old gadgets.

It was absolutely beautiful - even better than the pictures! Everything about this holiday location was perfect.

Really beautifully picture perfect cottage inside and out. Nowhere is far away by car. Beautiful place.

Our stay at Aphrodite couldn’t have been more perfect. It was an absolute sanctuary to come home to at the end of each day. An interiors heaven!! ….. so beautifully presented….every inch of it is stunning and so very comfortable!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cottage with us Cathryn.

Fabulous, stay in the quant cottage, filled with so much love and care. We really appreciated the smell and candles, dimmer from the aga and next to a toasting fire. Thank you for sharing your little piece of Cornwall with us. We had the most beautiful walk through the village, using the local footpath. Lunch at The Cornish Arms, is Tavistock, was divine! Fowey is always a delight when down there,.Birdsong and lovely locals added to the charm.

Wow! From the incredibly scented and styled welcome, to the cosy cinema, rolling hills and woodland wonders. A incredible week here at Aphrodite for our nieces wedding. Great beach walks and excellent fish and chips in Looe. Great pub food only fifteen minutes away at The Manor Inn. The car ferry after a day at Fowey was even majestic in the rain. Most days were a blue skied delight and the fire was well versed by the weekend. Thank you for the fluffy cosy beds and the dressing gowns. A true home from home with a candle and cuppa in the morning light.

The property was lovely and comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the welcome goodies were a nice surprise

Beautiful cottage with so many nice touches, with amazing attention to detail. We have really enjoyed our stay. Aphrodite is such a peaceful and relaxing place to wake up in the morning with the sounds of birds and cows. Thank you Cathryn, this is a real home from home.

We have had such a lovely, restful, and restoartive stay here at Aphrodite. Listening to the birds in the morning, watching the rain fall, curling up by the fire. It has been the perfect getaway. Thank you Cathryn for your kind hospitality and for making us feel so welcome.

We have had a lovely week in your cottage. Made the most of the log burner! We went to Looe, Cawsand, Whitsand Bay and our dogs loved the walks.

We have had an amazing stay. We explored the area from Boscastle to Fowey. A pub within walking distance is a lovely treat, which we have enjoyed. We climbed Roughtor, Brown Willy and checked out some great old pubs. Lovely area, thanks for a great stay!

We've had such a lovely stay at Aphrodite. Thank you for the welcome hamper! We've walked on the Moors, from Looe to Polperro, Polzeath to Pentire Point and Boscastle to Beeny Hill. We've also walked from the front door and ended up in the Manor Inn for a friendly drink or two! Thank you again - its a cosy and charming cottage!

Thank you for an amazing long weekend at Aphrodite. We really enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome and the hamper was a lovely surprise! We love Aphrodite, it is as beautiful as it is charming. We were lucky to enjoy glorious sunshine as we explored the local woodlands, making our way to the Manor Inn for a lovely lunch. Thank you again for an amazing stay.

Lovely relaxing week in a beautiful cottage. Loved the decor and the linen soft furnishings. Great welcome hamper with lots of treats. Even Alfie, our dog, had his own little cosy bed.

Charming cottage, happily situated. Beautifully curated interior design and furnishings. Very delicious welcome hamper and generous toiletries. Everything there you needed and much more... (I should add that I have previously worked as a Quality Assessor for a self-catering holiday company accredited by Visit England - so an experienced assessor!)

Exquisite cosy cottage with gorgeous bedding in a stunning setting with lovely walks.directly from the cottage.

Beautiful location, well appointed and very comfortable

Jane is a fantastic host.. nothing is too much trouble and the welcome hamper is utterly divine. The decor and furnishings are exactly as the photos on the website. The cottage is a little piece of heaven, and the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Peace and tranquillity at its best and I would highly recommend

A beautiful cottage, full of old world charm but with all modern comforts to make it a luxurious stay. There was everything that you would need and the little touches like fresh flowers & lovely welcome pack made it extra special.

Beautifully secluded location, luxurious decor and furnishings, a real country retreat. We absolutely loved our 7 night stay, it felt just like home

Everything was lovely. We stayed at the same cottage a few years ago. It was lovely then and is even better now. What a lovely touch the welcome basket was. Thank you

Incredible cinema room. Such a warm and welcoming cottage.

The cottage was perfect for our stay whilst we were in between moving homes in London. Such a nice break from city life to country life. Thank you Jane for popping in to check we were ok. PS, loved the power of the shower. We didn't really use the cinema room but loved snuggling up in front of the fire in the living room.

'Thank you for providing everything we could possibly need. Aphrodite is so beautiful, and we have had a fantastic holiday. Couldn't have asked for better whether as we stayed in the middle of a heatwave. The garden is so lovely to sunbathe under the trees as it creates an amazing sun dappled escape from the hot sun. Thank you again.' - July 2021

'Thank you, we have had a wonderful week staying in Aphrodite. We loved the cosy cottage and enjoyed dining al fresco in the front garden. We had a great week mostly sunshine so enjoyed trips, a wonderful walk around the estuary at Fowey, a trip to Looe, canoeing on the Tamar, visiting local historical sites on Bodmin. The home baked scones were delicious. Thank you' - July 2021

'Thank you for such a wonderful stay! We absolutely loved the cottage as did our little pup. We had a lovely time cooking with local produce from the farm shop and butchers, many cosy nights in the snug and lots of fabulous adventure. The walks are amazing and so beautiful although we might have got lost a few times! We recommend 'I Walk Cornwall' App if you're not great with maps and directions. Whitsand beach was lovely and we went to a beautiful seaside village for lunch nearby. The Cornish Arms was great food as recommended by the previous visitors (thank you!) It was the perfect holiday and babymoon! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, we will always remember all the fun we had here!' - June 2021

There is a great walk from the door around Rilla Mill and Plusha Bridge. Loved the cottage and cooking on the Aga. Plenty of space for us all and a great shower! Also love all the outdoor spaces and the cinema room. We have made good use of it all! Thank you for the hamper of goodies, the best we've had anywhere and we have done a lot of holiday cottages! Thank you for a lovely stay. Ps the food at The Cornish Arms in Tavistock is top-notch - not your average pub food and lovely staff - would highly recommend!' - June 2021

'Loved our stay, thank you! Warm welcome, great hamper and a wow cottage. Warm, comfortable, very well equipped. Loved the gardens and the cinema room is just fabulous. Had incredible weather all week. Found the 'I Walk Cornwall' App very useful. Did the Golitha Falls walk (6 miles) and the Gunnislake to Chilsworthy walk (4 miles) - very steep but great pub near the end, White Hart with amazing views.
