Built in the 1820s for a Captain Clotworthy, Master of one of the famous Packet ships that sailed out of Falmouth harbour, this elegant Regency home has been beautifully renovated and is full of gorgeous original features as well as boasting stunning sea views. Positioned a short walk up a hill from the waterfront, Packet House is set over four floors and is an exceptional retreat for families, friends or couples seeking lots of space, and it is dog friendly too. With three ensuite bedrooms, two sitting rooms and a fabulous kitchen-dining room, it's perfect for holidaying in luxury. The pièce de resistance of this amazing retreat must be the stunning views over Falmouth harbour, Flushing, St Mawes Castle and the Roseland Peninsula - just beautiful! Being just a short stroll from the centre of bustling, characterful Falmouth, there's so much to see and do you need never step in a car. And with ferries able to take you up and down the River Fal and Helford River, it's a wonderful way to explore by water.

There are two gorgeous sitting rooms to choose from, with interconnecting doors which can be opened if desired. The main sitting room offers views over the charming front garden towards the harbour, a three-seater sofa, wingback armchair and cocktail chairs, beautifully patinated wooden floors, a cosy open fire and gorgeous vintage furniture - the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring.

The second sitting room lies to the back of the house and also has a comfy three-seater sofa, armchair, cocktail chair, a Smart TV for catching up on your favourite box set, board games, books and a stunning antique rocking horse - this is a great room for kids wanting their own space, or for those seeking a moment of quietude.

The exquisite, characterful kitchen and dining room can be found on the ground floor and is the perfect blend of traditional and modern design. The interior designer owner has showcased the fantastic original features of this, the oldest part of the house, with the decorative Cornish Range, bread oven, exposed walls, original dresser and whitewashed walls. These contrast beautifully with the zinc-topped handmade Shaker kitchen. For budding chefs there's a Lacanche Range, dishwasher and all the other essentials needed to rustle up meals, including a Lavazza coffee machine. Mealtimes are a joy around the farmhouse kitchen table, and there's a door leading out to the courtyard, so you can let the soft sea breeze in on a summer's day.

In addition, there's a washing machine and tumble dryer in the basement, along with plenty of space to store surfboards and beach equipment.

Sleeping and bathing

There are three beautiful ensuite bedrooms to choose from.

On the first floor you'll find the master bedroom, complete with huge super king-sized bed, plush velvet sofa, wooden floors and Georgian painted panelling. Two windows offer glorious views over the harbour and Flushing beyond, whilst wardrobes offer plenty of storage and the Louis XIV gilt dressing table is just a dream. The original decorative fireplace is just lovely, whilst the huge ensuite boasts a vintage roll top bath and separate shower enclosure with Lefroy Brooks rain shower.

The second bedroom lies on the top floor and has a sumptuous king-sized bed, beautiful sea views, wooden floors, two occasional chairs, a chest of drawers and an en suite with double ended roll top bath and large separate shower with Lefroy Brooks rain shower.

Bedroom three has a king-sized zip and link bed, meaning it can be kept as a double or made into twins, perfect for children or friends staying together. This lovely, smaller room is just charming with views over the garden with a glimpse of the sea, plus wooden floors, original panelling and decorative fireplace. The ensuite comes complete with bath and handheld shower.

All the beds come swathed in luxurious linens, sumptuous bedding and cushions and throws. The en suites have heated rails to ensure towels are kept warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

This stunning town house enjoys two lovely gardens. To the front lies a secluded walled front garden, the perfect spot to catch the morning sun with a cup of coffee. Another larger walled garden can be found behind the house, accessed by a flight of granite steps from the courtyard set outside the kitchen. The tucked-away courtyard is the perfect spot for afternoon tea, where a prolific Wisteria rains petals in early summer - so romantic! There's also a heated outdoor shower - perfect for washing off the sea salt after your swim. The main garden has a sunny lawn surrounded by camellias, hydrangeas and a host of perennials, making it a pretty spot in which to relax. At the highest point of the garden there is a summer house with French doors that open out to make the most of the view over the garden, with the harbour beyond- a magical spot for a sunny breakfast or to read a book.

There's no private parking at Packet House, but ample on street parking is available.

Set in the gorgeous seaside town of Falmouth, there's plenty to see and do without stepping in a car. Stroll along the sea front into town in about 10 minutes and potter about the fabulous independent shops, making sure to stop in 'Stones Bakery' for a coffee and pastry on the way. If shopping isn't your thing, there's the incredible National Maritime Museum to explore, whilst further out Pendennis Castle offers a glimpse into Falmouth's rich history. For beach lovers and swimmers, take a dip from the steps of Greenbank Gardens, just a three-minute walk away, whilst Gyllyngvase with its fabulous beach café, and a little further out Swanpool, offers excellent swimming too. Head to the Prince of Wales Pier or Custom House Quay for boat trips - from here you can visit St Mawes, Flushing and Truro or you can take a cruise along the coast or up the Helford Passage or River Fal. For foodies, the Star and Garter gastropub is excellent and the courtyard tables at Restaurant Mine in the Old Brewery Yard are highly sought after. On Tuesdays, a market takes place on The Moor where you'll discover excellent local produce for sale.

The epitome of Regency charm, this exquisite seaside townhouse lies in the heart of Falmouth in South Cornwall overlooking the beautiful, bustling harbour - the perfect dog friendly homestay for those seeking a coastal escape with plenty to do.
