Bedroom details
1 Bedroom (Sleeps 2 + cot)
This gorgeous little cottage nestles in the tiny village of Bodinnick on the banks of the River Fowey. The steep village street leads down past higgledy piggledy terraced cottages to the Old Ferry Inn at the waterside where a tipple or two of finest Cornish ale will help you back up the hill at bedtime! Surrounded by beautiful countryside and ancient farmland, meandering walks pass farmsteads dating back to the Doomsday Book selling scrumpy cider from roadside stalls.
Living
With slate flagged flooring and whitewashed walls, beautiful furnishings in pale shades of blue and grey and an inglenook fireplace with a toasty warm wood-burner, this is a wonderful room to relax in. Lights hang low over a pale oak dining table and comfortably upholstered chairs encourage long lingering meals. Beautiful mirrors and lovely artwork show the thought put into making this a wonderful retreat and a deeply upholstered sofa sits before a Smart TV with Bluetooth Bose speaker/iPod dock, perfect for snuggling up to watch a romantic weepie on a winter afternoon or for listening to your favourite music on a flawless summer evening.
Eating
A low doorway leads through to the little Shaker-style kitchen (mind your head!) where everything is provided for cooking up a Cornish feast of locally sourced scrumptiousness. Under-floor heating keeps the slate floor delightfully warm so you can wiggle your toes as you scramble your eggs!
Sleeping
Steep cottage stairs lead up to the pretty bedroom where a deluxe kingsize bed will have you sleeping like a baby. Immaculate linens and goose down duvets and pillows ensure ultimate comfort. Windows on three sides allow light to flood in so lazy mornings reading in bed make for a wonderful start to the day.
Bathing
The little bathroom is on the ground floor with a three-quarter size bath and a shower over. A heated towel rail will keep your towels snuggly warm.
Outside space
Sun shines on the little terrace at the front of the cottage in the morning, a lovely spot for a relaxing coffee while planning the day's adventures. But there's more: Hall Walk Cottage has a wonderful surprise in store for you! If you wander along the little footpath at the side of the cottage and take the steps on the left up through the trees you will find the most adorable secret garden, all yours and complete with a picnic table, barbeque area and the most awesome views across the river below to Fowey on the opposite bank. A super place to sit with a drink, share a picnic or indulge in a spot of sunbathing, serenaded by birdsong and with the distant sounds of the boats on the water drifting up through the trees -.utter bliss!
Parking
You can usually park on the road right outside or slightly further back up the hill on the right. This road leads to the village only so is pretty quiet (the road to and from the ferry and hence all passing traffic follows a different route).
WiFi
Hall Walk Cottage has WiFi so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.
Dogs
Hall Walk Cottage is one of our pet-free retreats.
Location
Hall Walk Cottage is in the tiny village of Bodinnick, just across the river from Fowey. Cross over on the Bodinnick Ferry (the last ferry back is 7.30pm in winter and 11pm in summer, don't miss it or you'll have a sixteen mile round trip via road! It's always best to check with the ferry staff) and explore the narrow streets and harbourside shops and eateries.
Walk the footpaths of the ancient Saints Way across the county from coast to coast or follow the Coastal Footpath through Fowey and along cliffs and bays to take in the sublime sea and coastal views.
Try paddle-boarding, dinghy sailing and kayaking at beautiful Polkerris beach.
After all that exercise you'll need some food so try Sam's in Fowey or Sam's on the Beach (the latter overlooks the water at Polkerris). Both have a great reputation and serve delicious food and cocktails! The Old Quay House in Fowey is a lovely building which offers a luxurious restaurant. Waterside dining at its best.
