Our charming little cottage for two lies in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, on the emerald banks of the River Fowey. Steeped in history and painted with timeless beauty, the village features characterful fishermen's cottages that embrace a steep street wending down to the riverbanks below. Revel in the luxurious comforts of Hall Walk Cottage and enjoy the sanctuary of your secret abode, before stepping outside and soaking up the scenery. From the front door, you can trace footsteps down the village street, past the Old Ferry Inn and to the water's edge, where a small car and passenger ferry carries wayfarers from one side of the river to the other. Whether you are seeking spellbinding moments in your Cornish haven or can't wait to immerse in the surrounding countryside and seascapes, this dream dwelling fulfils all of your getaway desires and promises bewitching staycation moments.

Living and dining

With slate flagstone floors, open beams, whitewashed walls and beautiful furnishings in cream and nautical hues, the living room is immediately inviting. Radiating serenity, it marries period features with contemporary comfort to create a space that is both charming and irresistibly cosy. Allowing light to fill the room, a shuttered window rests within an alcove and is paired with a pretty window seat for world-watching through the glass. In the warmer months, the window can be opened to let light breezes drift in from the river. Meanwhile, in winter, a wood burning stove within a period fireplace casts a toasty glow across the room's upholstered sofa and armchair. For entertainment when the sunlight starts to dip, a Smart TV provides access to a range of films and series, whilst a Bluetooth Bose speaker and iPod dock provide all your favourite soundtracks.

In the adjoining dining room, a pendant light hangs over a pale oak dining table, and dining chairs for four encourage lingering repasts. Completing the picture, a white-framed mirror and tasteful artwork adorn the walls and nod to the cottage's maritime heritage.

Eating

A low doorway leads through to Hall Walk Cottage's Shaker-style kitchen, a petite picture of perfection where everything is provided for cooking up a feast. Imbuing a timeless style, stone-coloured cabinetry complements exposed stone walls and warm tiles, paired with a large Belfast sink and a stainless-steel oven. Adding to the hygge is underfloor heating, perfect for the cooler months as corks are popped and pots simmer on the stove.

Sleeping and bathing

In this one-bedroom idyll, steep cottage stairs lead up to the pretty bedroom of Hall Walk Cottage, where a luxurious king-size bed and two window seats await. With the bed swathed in the finest linens and a goose down duvet and pillows, ultimate comfort is guaranteed for blissful nights of repose. Across the walls, a neutral palette evokes a calming feel, complemented by a feature stone wall and organic textures. In the morning, golden light fills the room from three shuttered windows, perfect for leisurely lie-ins with a fresh coffee. Meanwhile in the evening, lamps provide soft lighting for nighttime reads as stars gather in a celestial canopy outside.

For comfort and convenience, a bathroom can be found on the ground floor with a three-quarter size bath with an overhead shower. After soothing soaks, a heated towel rail promises the warmest, cosiest towels.

Outside space

Sun soaks the little terrace at the front of Hall Walk Cottage, lending itself perfectly to alfresco moments savouring warming drinks whilst planning the day's adventures. From the side of the cottage, a private footpath leads to a verdant idyll framed by trees. The most adorable secret garden, this miniature Eden features a picnic table, barbeque area and the most awe-inspiring views of the flowing river below and across to neighbouring Fowey. An enchanting place to relax and recline with a glass of something special, the garden encourages slow moments with a picnic, book, or simply a blanket as you indulge in a spot of sunbathing. Serenaded by birdsong and the distant sounds of boats on the water, dreamy moments become cherished memories here.

Parking

There is parking available on the road right outside of Hall Walk Cottage and slightly further back up the hill on the right. This road leads to the village.

In the Area

Hall Walk Cottage is situated in the tiny village of Bodinnick, just across the river from Fowey, close to the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. Enjoy the short, scenic journey on the Bodinnick Ferry and explore the narrow streets, harbourside shops and eateries of Fowey. If you have enough time, you can also walk through Fowey to take a second ferry to nearby Polruan with its historic castle and breath-taking views over the ocean. Just remember to leave yourself plenty of time to catch a return ferry service back again. For the walkers, both the rolling paths of Hall Walk, the ancient Saints Way and South West Coast Path beckon for sublime walks along clifftops and past stunning bays. Meanwhile, for beachside reveries, Readymoney Cove, Polridmouth, Polkerris and Lantic Bay are especially beautiful.

Benefitting from an abundant natural larder, the area around Bodinnick produces a delicious array of seasonal produce. In Bodinnick itself, the four-hundred-year-old Ferry Inn extends an award-winning welcome to two and four-legged patrons and serves traditional pub food in a winsome setting. With restaurants in Fowey and Polkerris, Sam's is a well-known name in South Cornwall and offers menus of locally and internationally inspired menus, including seafood, vegetarian and vegan cuisine. For a taste of fine dining, both Appleton's and Fitzroy in Fowey have been recommended by the Michelin Guide, as has the Sardine Factory in Looe, and make for the perfect date night destination wooed by candlelight.

Nestled in the village of Bodinnick above the River Fowey resides our luxury retreat for two, perfect for relaxing breaks and romantic getaways.

The Longest Beaches in Cornwall

Cornwall is home to many beautiful beaches: the golden frontiers between land and sea. But which are the longest beaches in Cornwall, and where can you find them?

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Hall Walk Cottage:

A stylish and cosy cottage in a wonderful location. A perfect retreat for a relaxing break.

We spent a week reading as many books as we could and riding the ferry back and forth to Fowey and its wonderful restaurants. A perfect getaway to explore this corner of Cornwall. We can't wait to come back!

A well equipped, cosy cottage with easy access to the beatiful harbour town of Fowey. The cottage perfectly blended old with new, keeping all the charm of a local fisherman's cottage, which made you feel part of the local community, with the modern day essentials for a comfortable holiday.

Beautiful quaint cottage, very comfortable with gorgeous garden, great location ideal for Fowey & for walking. We loved our stay here. It was a perfect break & exceeded our expectations!

A gorgeous cottage. Fantastic location.

Utterly stunning cottage suitable for a romantic, secluded break. The owners have thought of everything - we spent a Christmas week with many log fires and delicious meals - the kitchen has everything you need. Great walks on your doorstep and the ferry gives you easy access to Fowey.

Idyllic. Beautiful cottage with a very warm welcome. Stunning location & so conveniently situated - incredibly tranquil, surrounded by nature & yet just a hop away on the ferry is the charming bustle of Fowey. The nearby walks are breathtaking - Hall Walk is simply enchanting. Cannot find fault with this retreat - can’t wait to return!

Fabulous cottage for a quiet holiday. Just be aware of ferrry times.

Great place, loved it there

Absolutely everything about this delightful little cottage was just as we would have wanted, a perfect few days away! It was everything we could have wished for...even the weather!

Lovely, clean property in a great location, right next to one of Cornwall's famous walks, we highly recommend!

This is our third time staying in a boutique retreat. Once again high standards were maintained. Fantastic place. Hall walk is the most gorgeous peaceful retreat away from it all. The cottage was beautiful and very tastefully decorated. We were provided with everything we needed for a comfortable and restful stay…. We slept like babies. Everything was spotlessly clean … bright and airy. Being right next to the Hall walk path meant we were literally a couple of minutes walk away from the most beautiful view over Fowey harbour. Hall walk cottage was in such a peaceful corner with the added bonus of also being minutes away from the small car ferry… which meant we could go by foot or by car over to fabulous Fowey with some lovely pubs, restaurants and shops. Brown Sugar was amazing for breakfast. If you want to go further afield get the ferry over and drive to Polkerris beach and have lunch at the Rashleigh inn which is next to the beach. Gorgeous food in a lovely location. Absolutely fabulous time at Hall Walk cottage we did not want to leave.

Hall Walk Cottage is the perfect place for two. Quiet, cosy, comfortable and beautiful in every way. You're away from the hustle and bustle of lovely Fowey but only a few minutes ride away on the ferry to experience the shops and restaurants of this lovely little town.

This little cottage was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet retreat in a busy area. Thank you for the thought which has gone into ensuring that the cottage is ready and prepared for guests. The initial supplies including a bottle of processo were very welcome.

We really loved the cottage, the way it was presented and the lovely welcome gifts that were left for us. I would certainly consider using Boutique Retreats again.

Perfect location, very quiet & private. Loved the colour scheme & coziness of the cottage - will definitely look to use Boutique Retreats again in the future.

The most beautifully decorated, comfortable, cosy hideaway for two. Incredibly clean, with absolutely everything we needed, and the lovely garden with a sea view was a lovely surprise!

What a lovely place to stay for Christmas. We had a great time, walking, eating and relaxing. An absolute treat!!

Great cottage great location perfect stay for a romantic long weekend

Lovely warm and cosy cottage and the Prosecco and provisions left for us were a thoughtful touch. Ideal location for walking the coastal path. We really enjoyed our stay

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic surrounding within the Fowey Estuary, The Hall Walk is literally on the doorstep and is highly recommended with 2 ferry crossings and plenty to see and stop for enroute. The Ferry Cross inn only 100yds away is perfect to settle down for a drink and the food is excellent particularly on a Sunday. Perfect cottage and location for a weekend away.

Lovely quiet retreat for two people, we enjoyed our stay very much.

A beautiful well equipped cottage, perfect for a couple holiday. We loved all the added extras and thoughtful arrival presents ( Prosecco and goody basket).

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location for long country walks.

Excellent stay at hall walk cottage. The cottage is beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable. Ideal location for fowey.

Beautiful cottage, fantastic location.

Such a picturesque cottage, everything we could have asked for, so comfy, bijou, but perfect for us. Located next to a pub which served great food too. Thank you

Beautiful cosy retreat - we loved our time here and didn’t want to leave. The ferry to Fowey is so easy and very regular so we enjoyed eating at many lovely restaurants. Great walks on the doorstep. Highly recommend this cottage and look forward to using boutique retreats again in the future.

We had the most wonderful weekend at Hall Walk Cottage! Such a lovely cottage. Couldn’t have asked for more, and will definitely use Boutique Retreats again soon!

Atmospheric cottage in wonderful location!

An absolutely idyllic cottage for a perfect time away a deux

Excellent cottage in an excellent location. Would definitely visit again.

I can highly recommend Hall Wall Cottage - we had an absolutely fantastic stay there! So cosy, comfortable and well equipped. It is well located next to the start of the Hall Walk and close to the Old Ferry Inn which does excellent food. Ferry to Fowey was regular and easy.

Hall Walk Cottage was absolutely gorgeous! So comfortable, clean and chic. We loved the welcome basket (the olives and nuts with the Prosecco in the sunshine in the front garden were sublime). The kitchen equipment was comprehensive (I've found this isn't always the case in self-catering) and the crockery and glassware of good quality and very beautiful . The complimentary toiletries smelled gorgeous and I loved the little homely touches right down to the felt mice on the bathroom cupboard doors! The location on Hall Walk was perfect and it was very relaxing not having to drive our car for the first few days as were were able to walk and take the ferry within a few minutes.

A lovely, cosy, well equipped cottage. Very peaceful.

We loved it - probably the best overall holiday cottage we've stayed in and we would love to return.

Lovely relaxing break in very well appointed cottage - great location for exploring coast line - beautiful views and great sunsets in garden ??

Lovely cosy cottage, ideal for exploring the local countryside and traditional towns and villages in the area.
