Living and dining
With slate flagstone floors, open beams, whitewashed walls and beautiful furnishings in cream and nautical hues, the living room is immediately inviting. Radiating serenity, it marries period features with contemporary comfort to create a space that is both charming and irresistibly cosy. Allowing light to fill the room, a shuttered window rests within an alcove and is paired with a pretty window seat for world-watching through the glass. In the warmer months, the window can be opened to let light breezes drift in from the river. Meanwhile, in winter, a wood burning stove within a period fireplace casts a toasty glow across the room's upholstered sofa and armchair. For entertainment when the sunlight starts to dip, a Smart TV provides access to a range of films and series, whilst a Bluetooth Bose speaker and iPod dock provide all your favourite soundtracks.
In the adjoining dining room, a pendant light hangs over a pale oak dining table, and dining chairs for four encourage lingering repasts. Completing the picture, a white-framed mirror and tasteful artwork adorn the walls and nod to the cottage's maritime heritage.
Eating
A low doorway leads through to Hall Walk Cottage's Shaker-style kitchen, a petite picture of perfection where everything is provided for cooking up a feast. Imbuing a timeless style, stone-coloured cabinetry complements exposed stone walls and warm tiles, paired with a large Belfast sink and a stainless-steel oven. Adding to the hygge is underfloor heating, perfect for the cooler months as corks are popped and pots simmer on the stove.
Sleeping and bathing
In this one-bedroom idyll, steep cottage stairs lead up to the pretty bedroom of Hall Walk Cottage, where a luxurious king-size bed and two window seats await. With the bed swathed in the finest linens and a goose down duvet and pillows, ultimate comfort is guaranteed for blissful nights of repose. Across the walls, a neutral palette evokes a calming feel, complemented by a feature stone wall and organic textures. In the morning, golden light fills the room from three shuttered windows, perfect for leisurely lie-ins with a fresh coffee. Meanwhile in the evening, lamps provide soft lighting for nighttime reads as stars gather in a celestial canopy outside.
For comfort and convenience, a bathroom can be found on the ground floor with a three-quarter size bath with an overhead shower. After soothing soaks, a heated towel rail promises the warmest, cosiest towels.
Outside space
Sun soaks the little terrace at the front of Hall Walk Cottage, lending itself perfectly to alfresco moments savouring warming drinks whilst planning the day's adventures. From the side of the cottage, a private footpath leads to a verdant idyll framed by trees. The most adorable secret garden, this miniature Eden features a picnic table, barbeque area and the most awe-inspiring views of the flowing river below and across to neighbouring Fowey. An enchanting place to relax and recline with a glass of something special, the garden encourages slow moments with a picnic, book, or simply a blanket as you indulge in a spot of sunbathing. Serenaded by birdsong and the distant sounds of boats on the water, dreamy moments become cherished memories here.

In the Area
Hall Walk Cottage is situated in the tiny village of Bodinnick, just across the river from Fowey, close to the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. Enjoy the short, scenic journey on the Bodinnick Ferry and explore the narrow streets, harbourside shops and eateries of Fowey. If you have enough time, you can also walk through Fowey to take a second ferry to nearby Polruan with its historic castle and breath-taking views over the ocean. Just remember to leave yourself plenty of time to catch a return ferry service back again. For the walkers, both the rolling paths of Hall Walk, the ancient Saints Way and South West Coast Path beckon for sublime walks along clifftops and past stunning bays. Meanwhile, for beachside reveries, Readymoney Cove, Polridmouth, Polkerris and Lantic Bay are especially beautiful.
Benefitting from an abundant natural larder, the area around Bodinnick produces a delicious array of seasonal produce. In Bodinnick itself, the four-hundred-year-old Ferry Inn extends an award-winning welcome to two and four-legged patrons and serves traditional pub food in a winsome setting. With restaurants in Fowey and Polkerris, Sam's is a well-known name in South Cornwall and offers menus of locally and internationally inspired menus, including seafood, vegetarian and vegan cuisine. For a taste of fine dining, both Appleton's and Fitzroy in Fowey have been recommended by the Michelin Guide, as has the Sardine Factory in Looe, and make for the perfect date night destination wooed by candlelight.
