Boasting over 200 years of history, this former fisherman's cottage has been lovingly restored and offers one of the best views over the gorgeous village of Port Isaac. A wonderful couple's getaway, this stunning south-facing homestay has immense vintage charm and from the moment you step inside, you'll be bewitched by its tranquil beauty, set over three floors. With all the charm of a two-hundred-year-old fisherman's cottage, you'll find quirky low ceilings and traditional features such as the original stairs which are steep in places.

Mount Pleasant is the perfect setting for a true Cornish experience, with the sea and village just a short walk away. Home to The Fisherman's Friends and Doc Martin, Port Isaac is a stunning spot with restaurants a-plenty and a sandy beach for a spot of rock pooling, whilst pop in the car and the wild majesty of the North Cornish coast and beyond awaits - just perfect!

Living

Set on the first floor, this lovely room with white beams and bag of character has amazing views over the garden and out to sea. With two large sash windows that can be opened to let the cool sea breeze float through, this is a wonderful spot to laze during the heat of a hot summer's day, whist during cooler months, cosy up together on the sofa and watch the stormy seas, or to catch up on a box set or two on the Smart TV. You'll also find a Bose Bluetooth speaker to soundtrack your favourite holiday playlists.

Eating

The galley kitchen on the ground floor is home to everything you might need to rustle up meals. With dusky pink cabinets and pale granite worktops, we love the vintage style that makes cooking a dream. There's an electric oven with hob, microwave, built in fridge with ice box and a built-in dishwasher and all the other essentials you might need. You'll also find a Nespresso coffee machine for wake-me-up moments. Make sure to make the most of the stunning local produce and pick up some fresh seafood straight off of the boat.

The dining room is also on the ground floor next to the kitchen and has a lovely country-kitchen style table that comfortably seats four. In addition, there's a flickering wood burning effect electric fire and a gorgeous window seat - a wonderful spot from which to gaze out over the garden. A washer/dryer is also available, shared with the owner's other property next door.

Sleeping

Set on the second floor, the blissful bedroom is just a dream with glossy exposed wooden floor, king-size bed knobs-and-broomsticks brass bed and double, deep set windows with glorious sea views. In addition, there's plenty of storage space with a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers with dressing table. This is a peaceful, tranquil room where you'll fall asleep to the soothing sound of the waves, and it's just perfect for long lie ins whilst gazing out over the sea - and breakfast in bed is a must! Please note that the bedroom has a sweetly rustic, low ceiling with beam - guests over 6 foot may need to take a little extra care.

Bathing

You'll find the beautifully tiled bathroom on the ground floor, complete with deep bath for long soaks and an overhead shower to wake you up in the morning or to cool you down after a day on the beach.

Outdoor space

To the front of Mount Pleasant there's a sunny lawn, complete with table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining and a bench with cushions for sunbathing with a book. While away the hours gazing at fishing boats pootle in and out of the harbour and luxuriate under the summer sun, feeling the soft sea air tousle your hair. We couldn't think of anything nicer!

Parking

There's a public car park 500yds away. Please bear in mind the walk includes steep inclines, with this in mind we would advise using luggage with wheels for ease. You'll be greeted by mesmerising harbour views following your walk to the cottage, ocean vistas well worth wandering for!

Babies

A babe-in-arms is most welcome at Mount Pleasant. A travel cot can be provided on request.

Dogs

This is one of our pet-free properties.

WiFi

Eating out

For such a small village there are a surprising number of fantastic places to eat, including two Nathan Outlaw restaurants - Outlaw's Fish Kitchen and Outlaw New Road (book as soon as you can in advance as it is so popular!) - both Michelin-starred. There are lots of other top-notch eateries such as The Mote and the 17th century Port Gaverne Restaurant. For something a little more laid back, head to The Golden Lion, The Krab Pot or The Chapel Cafe or for something to munch on the move, check out May Contain Nuts for a scrummy pasty. Ultimately seafood is very much the name of the game here, and you'll be spoilt for choice with at least twenty eateries around and about.

In the Area

Set within such beautiful countryside, there's plenty to do in and around Port Isaac. From cliff top walks (Port Isaac to Port Gaverne is lovely and less than two miles) and strolling around the local galleries and shops to fishing trips from the harbour (during the summer season) and relaxing on nearby beaches such as Polzeath and Daymer Bay, you'll not want for things to do. You can also step out on to the fantastic Camel Trail or South West Coast path - perfect for walking and cycling. Just make sure to end in one of the cafes or tea rooms for a proper Cornish afternoon tea. Head east and you'll find beautiful Trebarwith Strand, iconic Tintagel and fascinating Boscastle. Head west and you have glorious Polzeath, Rock, Padstow and the Camel Estuary to explore. Take a trip inland and discover mysterious Bodmin Moor and see why this wild place has inspired the likes of Daphne Du Maurier and Winston Graham. The possibilities are endless!

Our dreamy coastal home offers a warm welcome full of vintage charm, boasting some of the best views in Port Isaac and just a short walk from the sea.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Mount Pleasant:

Beautiful surroundings. Port Isaac is stunning and this is a cute place to stay to explore the village and area. Views out of the windows are absolutely lovely.

We had an amazing stay at Mount Pleasant cottage, sooo relaxing and what a view! The cottage is gorgeous. A little heads-up, you do have to be prepared for the walk from the car park to the cottage, it’s a bit of a trek particularly with a case! However, we would definitely stay again.

Excellent all round! We love it here.We have stayed at Sweet William next door and loved that property too - Our dilemma is which one to book next year

The most beautiful and comfortable place, so central and yet so peaceful, we couldnt have asked for more. It was so hard to leave!

Stunning location and truly beautiful cottage and so peaceful with incredible views. We had a truly enjoyable break with great coastal walking and lots of restaurants and farm shops for eating out and would highly recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous stay in this cottage. Comfortable, clean and cosy.

Wonderful location, beautiful unique property.

Stunning views and magical location! Port Isaac is a fantastic get away spot with great restaurants, fish and chips and ice cream!

Beautiful views from the garden and upstairs windows and peaceful spot to watch the world go by

The property was very clean and well presented. Great location for a short stay, close to excellent restaurants.

Perfect!

This cottage is truly amazing! To be able to sit in the garden, lounge or bedroom and see the harbour is a wonderful thing. You are right in the heart of one of the nicest villages in Cornwall. This is one of the nicest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. It really does have everything and would bet it is great to stay in all year round. Reallly comfortable, with wonderful views. Any cottage in Port Isaac takes a little effort to get in to (i.e. drop bags off and then park up the hill!) but it is so worth the effort to be in the middle of this amazing village. How many places this size have 5 brilliant restaurants within easy walking distance.

Lovely little cottage in a great location. The view and sound of the ocean was such a treat to experience each day. We enjoyed returning to the cottage each day after a long days walk, to relax in the cosy living room and make a hearty meal (with a glass of wine!)

A beautiful and comfortable cottage in a gorgeous location. Very warm and cosy. Amazing views over the harbour and to the hill beyond - just breathtaking. Wonderfully equipped with everything we needed.

Happy days! We had a fantastic time, lots of love and laughter, thank you!

A beautiful cottage reflecting the charm of the location.
