Glorious Penda truly is the stuff of romance; a thatched cottage tucked away in the unspoilt countryside of the Roseland Peninsula yet close enough to the sea for a morning dip, this delightful home is truly a 'surf and turf' retreat. Perfect for romantic getaways and family escapes alike, this is an ideal homestay for both short and longer breaks.
With two gorgeous bedrooms, cosy living space and a wonderfully equipped kitchen, you'll have everything you need to hand, whilst outside there's a gorgeous cottage garden in which to relax, and ideal if you have dogs; up to two are most welcome.
From here it's an easy drive to explore the south Cornish coastline, from Portscatho and St Mawes to Mevagissey and Fowey beyond. Alternatively, catch the ferry to bustling Falmouth or head north to St Agnes, Godrevy and St Ives - whatever you choose to do, Penda is the perfect base from which to explore this stunning part of Cornwall.
Living
The oh-so-pretty sitting room is a gorgeous space and comes complete with dual aspect windows, which let in plenty of light, polished wooden floor, and exposed, original stone wall. The wood-effect fire adds a cosy glow to the room whilst the large L-shaped sofa and two armchairs offer plenty of seating on which to relax. For evenings in, there's a 55-inch Smart TV for film nights and a plethora of throws to cosy up in. During summer months, the door can be opened on to the patio, allowing the warm summer's breeze to drift through - bliss!
Please note that due to the charming nature of Penda, you will find split level floors, low ceilings, and characterful beams in some parts of the cottage.
Eating
The delightful open plan kitchen and dining area is the perfect place to come together for feasts and celebrations. In the kitchen, duck egg blue cabinets are home to everything you'll need to rustle up sumptuous suppers and lazy brunches, whilst the electric range cooker is just a dream to cook on. There's a dishwasher, microwave, fridge and all the other essentials including a cafetiere, whilst the freezer can be found in the porch and there's a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room.
For dining, there's a breakfast bar for on-the-go snacks or a quick breakfast before heading out to explore for the day, whilst a circular dining table for six sits on a raised area next to a glorious feature wall complete with original fireplace. In addition, there's a lovely window seat to perch on and gaze out.
Sleeping
There are two stunning bedrooms to choose from.
The master bedroom is just lovely in soft greys, and comes complete with a king-size bed, from which you can gaze out of the window over the surrounding countryside - the perfect spot for a long, lazy lie-in! In addition, there's a walk-in wardrobe offering plenty of storage, chest of drawers and a dressing table, plus a television for late-night films.
The second bedroom lies to the back of the house and has a king-sized zip-and-link bed, meaning it can be set up either as a double or twin beds, for flexible sleeping arrangements. In pretty tones of dusky pink, this lovely room has a small hanging wardrobe and dressing table.
Both beds come draped in luxurious linens and sumptuous bedding, as well as cosy throws and plumptuous cushions to ensure a blissful nights' sleep.
Bathing
Tucked away on the ground floor, you'll find the elegant bathroom space with a delightful walk-in shower and a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
Penda has a pretty enclosed cottage garden to the rear of the property and comes complete with a sun-soaked terrace with bistro table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining, and two loungers for lazy sunny days.
