Living
Step through the pretty hallway with reclaimed panelling to find sumptuous spaces to recline. Originally built by a sea captain, the heavenly interiors of Coravue have been lovingly restored to create a contemporary homestay. Just perfect for relaxation throughout the day, a welcoming lounge dressed in soothing tones and flourishing period features beckons. With limed oak floors warmed by underfloor heating and a wood burning stove, enchanting moments can be enjoyed in all seasons. Cosy into one of the caramel velvet two sofas and seek entertainment from the Smart TV and Bluetooth stereo, or chase nostalgic escapism in the form of boardgames, dominos, and cards.
Eating and dining
For delicious moments from slow sunlit mornings to lantern-lit eves, the divine Shaker-style kitchen awaits. Elevated with underfloor heating and illuminated by a large ceiling window, this bewitching space is a dream for feasting fancies. For the chefs in your party, quartz worktops encompass a Belfast sink and range cooker with gas hob for crafting dishes with local fare, including the freshest local catch from the local fish market. Complementing the kitchen's accoutrements are a coffee machine and a wine fridge for those perfect couplings for delectable repasts.
Taking centre stage in Coravue's bespoke kitchen is a spacious dining table spotlit by Blanc d'Ivoire rattan lamps. Crafted with Melia and mahogany and finished with an elegant trellis fringe, this whitewashed centrepiece seats six for brunches and banquets. Just beyond folding glass doors, a further bistro set for two can be found in the suntrap courtyard.
Sleeping and bathing
Coravue features three luxurious bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The first bedroom resides on the top floor beneath stunning vaulted ceilings, with original beams, fireplace, and lookout hatch. Soothing hues dress the room, while a sea-view window reveals uninterrupted vistas overlooking the water towards the picturesque village of Instow. Meanwhile, an ensuite bathroom can be found behind a sliding door, with underfloor heating, a double vanity unit, and rainfall shower.

In the Area
The characterful villages of Appledore and Instow sit on either side of the estuary at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers. Adored for their picture-perfect aesthetics, maritime history and captivating coastline, they make for enthralling places to visit throughout the year. From the doorstep, the attractive streets of Appledore offer a winsome way to while away the hours. To learn about local history, visit the maritime museum or the library on the Quay, before perusing the village's shops and boutiques. In summer, Monday evenings on the Quay are serenaded by The Appledore Brass band, while in September, the Appledore Book Festival spans more than a week and tempts lovers of literature with an eclectic programme of events. For more summer escapades, you can also board the Appledore Instow Ferry in season to explore the coastline at your leisure.
For golden beach days, the sugary sands of Westward Ho! Beach and Saunton Sands beckon for picnics, paddling and, for the adventurous, surfing. For seekers of botanical bliss, RHS Garden Rosemoor is just a short distance away, while for the wanderers, the lure of the South West Coast Path is hard to resist as it traces the border between land and sea. Wonderful for families, The Big Sheep is just a few miles from Coravue too, promising family-friendly rides, attractions, and animal meet-and-greets. To refuel, The Royal George, The Seagate, The Flame Factory, and The Coffee Cabin each reside in Appledore and tempt with flavoursome dishes. Meanwhile, The Boathouse in Instow is beloved for its sea views and seasonally-inspired menus. John's of Instow is a must for artisan delights to take back to your retreat, while a scoop of Hocking ice cream from Appledore's Quay offers the perfect palate refresher.
