Country-chic inside with gorgeous wooden floors, natural colours throughout and light, airy rooms, this is a calm, peaceful spot with a paired-back look with the most luxurious finishing touches. A mini-wilderness retreat for two - perfect!

Living and eating

The main living space is large and spacious, with the seating area and large wood burning stove at one end and the kitchen at the other. The kitchen, with gorgeous dark blue cabinets and sleek wooden worksurface, holds everything you need to create romantic meals for your loved one, whilst the sweet dark wooden dining table is made for long, loving dinners together. The living area has a cosy velvet sofa and eye-catching bronze coffee table where you can snuggle up together in front of the flickering fire and watch a film or two, or maybe listen to your favourite tunes on the Sonos sound system. Alternatively, on warmer days open the balcony and relax outside, gazing out over the fields and countryside beyond - what better way to unwind.

There's a shower room with large flower head shower plus a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

The sheltered balcony is ideal for lazy afternoons whilst there's also deckchairs, a firepit and a barbeque for a spot of alfresco dinner in the garden surrounded by trees.

Tucked amongst the trees, you'll find the gorgeous wood-fired Eco hot tub where you can relax with just the sounds of the woods accompanying you. The tub will be filled and the fire will be laid for you, so all you'll need to is light the match!

In the Area

Being deep in the Devonian countryside, this is an ideal spot for nature-lovers and explorers, with walks a-plenty (Dartmoor National Park is literally on your doorstep) or cycling if you prefer along the paths, tracks and hills. Make sure to visit picturesque Canonteign Falls, a Victorian folly with England's highest manmade waterfall of nearly 70 meters, whilst the city of Exeter is a must with its incredible cathedral. Totnes is lovely too, with a real alternative vibe and fab independent shops. Another great thing to try locally is the steam railway which runs from Totnes to Buckfastleigh.

Bodhi Barn far exceeded our already high expectations. Location was perfect, hot tub view to lambs and deer in the adjoining field accompanied by evening chorus that moved over to a range of tawny and barn owl calls was idyllic. The barn was far more spacious than expected, we slept to the sound of a running brook and our welcome with the hot tub ready to use and wood burner on, couldn't have been more welcoming. Staying at the end of March, meant we saw all weather's imaginable but we were more than happy to stay put, when things turned biblical.... relax and enjoy everything Bodhi Barn had to offer.

My partner and I had a wonderful long weekend at Bodhi Barn. The location was stunning, private and the perfect setting for a getaway. Furnishings are beautiful and the wood fired hot tub made our stay even better. Everything about our stay was faultless and owners Sarah and James were helpful throughout our stay. We would 100% recommend Bodhi Barn.

Absolutely amazing

Bohdi barn is in a beautiful location with excellent facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The fire and hot tub were lit for us before our arrival and the welcome pack was excellent. Within 20 minutes of arriving we were lounging in the hot tub with a glass of cold prosecco - well done Jim and Sarah, excellent hosts. The engine house is also spectacular.

The location was perfect and the owners were lovely, being very helpful and responsive.

Fantastic! We both feel very relaxed and refreshed after our stay at the barn. It more than matched our expectations and everything was so clean and tidy and very well equipped with everything you would need. The location too was perfect, lovely and green surroundings, peaceful and tranquil. The owners really impressed me with their welcome pack too. All vegan products which was such a pleasant surprise, very thoughtful and generous. We hope that we will be staying again soon!

Bodhi Barn is one of our favourite places. Everything you need, total peace and quiet, your own hot tub and at night you can see the stars and hear various sounds of nature all around. Lots of nice walks without needing to take the car out and good pub in walking distance. It’s so good we got engaged here, honeymooned here and returned for our 1st anniversary. Bliss.

Bodhi Barn is absolutely beautiful. A haven away from it all. Decorated really nicely and finished to a high spec. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever need. The goodies were great quality and an unexpected bonus. We didn’t have any wifi when we arrived and we contacted Sarah who quickly came down with James to help. They were both very friendly and resolved the problem very quickly. Overall we were very happy and had an amazing stay.

The hamper was a nice touch. As well as the playing cards & games.

This place is a hidden gem, we instantly felt at ease, the décor was so tasteful and the owners kindly lit the wood fired hot tub and log burner for our arrival with a welcome hamper which was very well thought of. A beautiful and relaxing escape, which we both thoroughly enjoyed.Loved the seclusion and privacy as well as a brilliant recommendation for food at The Manor Inn, which was incredible. Lovely welcome hamper and little extras too. 5 minute walk to cannonteign falls was an unexpected surprise! Would definitely recommend to our friends and family. We will be coming again!!

Amazing lodge the photos don’t do this place justice I would 100% recommend for anyone to stay here and I certainly will be returning! Boutique retreats did an amazing job at listing everything we needed to know and advising about local areas we could explore saved me lots of time in researching the place.
