Wow - what can we say about this gorgeous little retreat? Set in pretty countryside, staying at Buddle Barn is like stepping back in time, being surrounded by beautifully converted barns within a large courtyard and incredible landscaped gardens in the most tranquil of settings. This pretty pad for four, nestled amongst the gorgeousness, has its own walled garden and access to an indoor swimming pool and sauna, as well as use of a large private lawn a few steps away. With an upside-down approach, the two bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor whilst the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area can be found upstairs.

Living

Climb the stone exterior steps to the front door and you'll find yourself in the main living space - high vaulted ceilings lend it a light and airy feel, whilst the rustic original stone walls remind you of Buddle Barn's extensive past. Two beautiful Loaf sofas, bedecked in cream and turquoise and draped in sheepskins and the softest of cushions, offer plenty of seating whilst the cute wood-burning stove adds extra cosiness during cooler weather. There's under floor heating too, just in case. We love the eye-catching tree library; created by the clever owners, a pretty exposed tree trunk looks to pierce the room from top to bottom and holds plenty of books to read.

Eating

The cute kitchen has everything you'll need to cook for your loved ones, including a Rangemaster electric oven and hob, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, a microwave and Delonghi appliances. The dining table sits in the kitchen and seats six - perfect for long, leisurely meals.

Sleeping

Take the stairs (which are gated for extra safety) down and the two cosy bedrooms await you for a peaceful night's sleep. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, two spacious wardrobes and glass doors that lead out into the garden. The second bedroom looks out over the central courtyard and has a comfy super king zip and link bed with chest of drawers. Both have sumptuous bedding and throws as well as under floor heating for cooler months.

Bathing

The cute bathroom, in nautical shades of blue, cream and white, sits ideally between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower overhead.

Outside space

Buddle Barn has its own private, enclosed garden which was the former Potager (kitchen garden). Original ancient walls enclose a pretty patio garden with a table, chairs and gas barbeque for outdoor dining, whilst you also have use of the absolutely stunning main top lawn which is just a few steps away. Surrounded with beautiful boarders of flowers and backing on to a private arboretum and parkland (often visited by herds of deer), this is an idyllic spot for sunny days and garden games such as croquet will be kept in the summer house to keep you entertained.

Swimming pool, sauna and gym

Adjacent to Buddle Barn is a gorgeous 15 metre indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym which guests have access to during their stay to use exclusively. Occasionally the owners use the gym and pool as well as using it as part of the physiotherapy practice which is on site. They will advise you on arrival when the pool, sauna and gym will be in use and when it will be available to you to enjoy exclusively. As a general guide, it is in use on three weekdays out of five, between 9am - 4pm, and occasional hours at weekends/evenings. The rest of the time it is yours for you to enjoy all to yourselves. During school holidays, usually the pool will be available for guests to use exclusively between 7am - 10am and 2pm - 5pm. Any occasional variations to these time slots will be provided on arrival.

Please note, the pool will not be available between 5th November 2024 and 7th March 2025.

Parking

Parking for Buddle Barn guests is immediately in front of the barn. There is ample parking within the large courtyard, which is also used by the owners and their physiotherapy patients.

Baby friendly

A wooden cot, highchair and stairgate can be provided, please request them at the time of booking.

Dogs

Two dogs are very weclome at Buddle Barn - please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

Please be advised, the owners of Buddle Barn have dogs of their own at their home close to Buddle Barn. Any dogs joining you are welcome to roam free in the cottage courtyard, but the owners kindly ask that dogs are kept on the lead in the wider courtyard area - thank you for your understanding.

Buddle Barn has WiFi so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

We had a lovely time at this beautiful cosy retreat

Great pool !

Buddle barn is a luxury retreat in a stunning part of Devon! Having the pool at our disposal was pure luxury, especially as the weather was unbelievably hot! The sauna also got used every day, and the garden, which was huge and beautifully kept, was the perfect spot our four legged friend, to run around in. Buddle Barn is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding areas and beaches alike. We have all agreed, and we will definitely be back! ?? Kam, David, Asha, Raya and Frankie. X

We really enjoyed our stay at Buddle Barn. It was a haven of peace in the stunning Devon countryside. It was very clean and comfortable and a great space for three adults and our Labrador. The hosts were very friendly and had left us an excellent welcome pack of milk, bread, butter and other essentials (including wine!). It was a great base to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding area.

A delightful place to stay, tucked away yet within convenient reach of everywhere one would want to visit, with charming hosts.

Cosy hideaway.

Absolutely gorgeous place, so peaceful with an amazing heated pool and treadmill to use too. Really friendly and helpful owners too. Loved it all. Thanks

Book Buddle Barn before someone else does! Both barn and pool will help you to unwind in beautiful surroundings.

Buddle Barn is a beautifully renovated holiday home which is as comfortable as it is stylish. Set in wonderful Dartmoor countryside with plenty to do and see not far away.

Really comfortable with the added bonus of a heated swimming pool

It was absolutely lovely. Everything was immaculate, perfectly thought out and beautifully presented, from the fabulous luxury welcome hamper to the well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and newly fitted bathroom. The pool and grounds are ideal, not to mention the amazing tree house. A perfect getaway for a young family.

We have had a wonderful stay at Buddle Barn. It is cosy, well equipped and beautifully presented. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and we really appreciated the thoughtful little touches that welcomed us on our arrival. A great location to explore the stunning Teign Valley and Dartmoor. Fabulous!

Buddle Barn is an amazing oasis of calm, quiet and serene. The home is furnished for ease and comfort and the pool and garden are a great source of play and adventure. We love it and really hope to visit again.

Outstanding property and location. Swimming pool was amazing.

Would recommended

A superb property in a very good location for accessing local points of interest. The property was well furnished and equipped and short of nothing from our perspective. It is set in a tranquil and pleasant environment. The owners were very welcoming and keen to assist if necessary.

Buddle Barn is amazing. I would highly recommend a stay. We all agreed it was one of the best holidays we've had. The barn is beautifully decorated and fitted out, the attention to detail was fab and the use of the private indoor pool was the icing on the cake. The surrounding area was stunning and there was so much to do. There are plenty of local restaurant pubs nearby serving great food and we found them value for money too. The barn has a courtyard kitted out with a gas bbq so staying in was still a great night. The hosts are warm and welcoming and there if needed although they'd already thought of and provided everything for your comfort upon arrival. Can't recommend this place enough and will definitely book again.

A perfect retreat in a lovely location and super-friendly hosts. Ideal for a family or couple. A slice of heaven in Devon.

Buddle Barn was a slice of luxury in the most beautiful of locations. The amenities were above and beyond, with the outdoor spaces and use of the private pool such a special edition to they stay. Our hosts were amazing. Always on hand to help with any questions we had, but also private and discreet, so the barn, despite being part of their home estate, never felt as if you were overlooked etc. We cannot wait to return again soon!
