This seriously sweet cottage is perfect for couples and smaller families alike. Nestled in a pretty village between Lyme Regis and Dorchester, this home stay is a must for those seeking the best of the county and the coast, with lovely views over the Bride Valley.

With underfloor heating throughout and gorgeously natural décor, this is a calming, tranquil escape that boasts fabulous outdoor space and a garden room too.

The cosy sitting room is just perfect to relax in at the end of a busy day exploring. The glorious wood burner is the heart of the room, whilst the cosy green sofa is made for curling up on with a good book. There are two additional chairs whilst there's a Smart TV for film nights or indulging in your favourite box sets.

The sweetly simple galley kitchen is equipped with all the essentials to make the most of the delicious local produce Dorset has to offer. There's an electric oven with induction hob, fridge, dishwasher, butler's sink and all the cooking equipment you'll need. The round dining table seats four - perfect for mealtime - whilst there's outside dining too during the summer months.

In addition, you'll find the washing machine in the utility area.

There are two gorgeous bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom with en suite shower room has a wonderfully-comfy super king size bed swathed in White Company bedding and Egyptian cotton sheets, with wonderful views over fields and the hills beyond - the perfect spot for breakfast in bed. The second bedroom has a pretty king size bed with bright Scandinavian furniture and great country views too.

As well as the en suite shower room (with power shower) for the master bedroom, there's a family bathroom with hand - held shower. Both have heated rails to ensure towels are kept warm and fluffy. There's also an additional loo downstairs.

Outside Space

There's plenty of outside space, with an idyllic cobbled stone garden room just across the quaint country lane, leading on to a south facing patio with dreamy countryside views. Here you'll find a dining table and four chairs, a barbeque and two sun loungers, all perfectly curated for feasting al fresco or cosied up in the garden room.

Discover use of the tennis court at the nearby Old Rectory; a short stroll away through a quaint English garden with an abundance of beautiful roses! Just perfect for a couple's competition or family tournament. Please do let us know if you plan to use this amazing facility, so we can make sure to check availability with the owner for you. Set, game, match your way into a dreamy getaway at Fernleigh Cottage...

There's private parking and a garage for cars just across the lane from the property.

Babies and children

Due to the property's close proximity to very deep ponds, Fernleigh Cottage isn't suitable for children between the ages of 1-12 years. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request for little ones, but please bring your own bedding for the cot.

This is one of our pet-free properties.

There's WiFi at Fernleigh Cottage so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Fernleigh Cottage:

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautifully decorated and furnished cottage in the peaceful and verdant Litton Cheney.

The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and we were kept toasty and warm by the woodburner and generous supply of logs. The bedrooms were beautiful and comfortable, with lovely views over the countryside.

The terrace by the private parking area is just opposite the house and is lovely- surrounded by well attended and beautiful flowerbeds. We were lucky that our visit coincided with the NGS Open Garden weekend and so we were able to visit the owners’ stunning garden nearby too.

We enjoyed day trips to Shell Bay near Poole, Lyme Regis and Durdle Door/Lulworth Cove from the cottage but it was a wrench to leave such lovely surrounds at the house.

Perfect for a romantic weekend for two- but we imagine it would be just as nice for 3-4 people too.

Thank you very much for having us Fernleigh!

Comfortable, welcoming,a wonderful base to explore the Dorset countryside

Lovely cottage in a great setting. The small torches were a nice touch as the village has not street lights making the walk to the local pub a challenge without them.

The cottage is beautiful, light, warm and fully equipped with everything you need. The welcome basket is amazing! and such a generous and thoughtful touch. Having everything you need as soon as you arrive is perfect and really makes a long weekend special. Especially having a supply of firewood, kindling and matches all ready to go, such a treat. We had no need to go to any shops! perfect! Thank you for a wonderful weekend stay.

We stayed at Fernleigh Cottage when the weather was atrocious but our holiday was great because the cottage was cosy and warm. The underfloor heating and log burner were perfect. Loved the decor in the cottage and the comfort from the bedding was amazing. We didn’t want for anything. The extra gifts were a nice surprise and appreciated.

Beautiful, clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable cottage perfect for exploring the coastline and more. We've never been away in November before but would not hesitate to go again at this time of year, particularly as the weather was gorgeous!

What a lovely, cosy cottage. The bed was super comfortable and we had everything we needed. The village is very pretty with a nice pub and lovely beaches within a very short drive. Fabulous!

A lovely cottage in a very peaceful location.

A beautifully tasteful cottage with only the best of everything. The fresh flowers and the welcome hamper were a real treat.

Lovely cottage in the prettiest village, we loved our stay!

Excellent relaxing break look forward to going back thanks

The cottage provides a very relaxing location for travel around Dorset.

A perfect cottage for a short break to celebrate my husbands birthday! Extremely comfortable bed, cosy sitting room with great log burner. Well equipped kitchen and a very generous welcome basket with a bottle of very local wine!

I loved the cottage the views from upstairs where wonderful it was set in the middle of a very pretty village but I would say that as I was brought up in that village many years ago but it’s still lovely. A very pretty church and good pub. In all a great stay .

A perfect cottage with a beautiful interior and comfy beds! The welcome hamper is very generous, particularly the home made cake. The flower arrangements also added a special touch. The cottage is in a quiet peaceful village but close to the beach and local amenities. We would love to visit again and highly recommend it!

Beautiful setting and Charmouth fossil beach a short drive away and the beach at Burton Bradstock just a 30 minute cycle both lovely. Definitely recommend you take a food supplies with you as no local shops. Unless you drive into Bridport 20 mins down the road. There is a farm shop for a few basics with is nice fresh produce and bread available in the morning, about 10 mins down the road aswell.

A beautiful cottage - comfortable, very clean and clearly very well maintained. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to stay with very welcome peace and a very pretty area.

Views from the bedrooms were amazing.

The beds were so comfortable and the property was very well equipped with everything we needed. We would love to come back to Fernleigh again.

We loved everything about Fernleigh Cottage. It is beautifully decorated, tastefully furnished and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The garden room and outside area with its stunning view was the perfect place to relax in the spring sunshine. The cottage was spotlessly clean with a generous welcome hamper, fresh flowers and homemade cake. We had a wonderful visit and would definitely return.

Bed mattress & linen unimprovable - superb for us

Stylish and comfortable cottage well-situated for enjoying the outdoors - perfect for a late Autumn week's stay for two. Very comfortable bed.

Just perfect. After a tough two years was the perfect cottage to relax and unwind. Thank you

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The property was stunning inside and every comfort had been thought of. Delicious cake and hamper on arrival definitely set our stay off on a high. Lovely village with a very friendly pub just 10 mins walk away. Location was perfect for exploring the area.

Perfect in every way . We were surrounded by gorgeous things and although never met the owner felt very welcomed to live in this gorgeous cottage. Totally love the bedrooms and the white wooden flooring was so relaxing . All the items of furniture were delightful to look at. The bed and bedding were so comfortable beautiful linen extremely comfortable. The owner thought of everything we visited the White Inn Pub just minutes away and used the torches provided on the walk back it’s gets very dark and with no light pollution the sky was always full of stars which I haven’t experience since childhood. To sum our stay up I would say magical.

This charming cottage exceeded our already high expectations for cleanliness , functionality and decor. So much so my wife and I booked another cottage through Boutique Retreats as soon as we got home from our stay. Thank you Boutique Retreats for giving us a perfect base for our holidays.

A beautiful cottage in the perfect location for coastal or country walks.

Absolutely Stunning property - Full of personal touches and we had a hamper of everything we could have wanted.

The village is a hidden gem, along with the local pub, vineyard and located 10 minutes to every coast line.

A lovely cottage. Tasteful and cosy. Very clean. The Welcome Hamper was very welcome. The cake in particular was delicious.

Amazing cottage, immaculately presented, clean, comfy and cosy. We have already recommended it to friends and discussed coming back ourselves!
