Architectually designed, this modern retreat takes inspiration from its surroundings and heritage, from the Purbeck stone building and thatched roof to the immense glass frontage to ensure you only get the best views of the unspoilt Dorset countryside and Natural World Heritage site. With an upside-down approach meaning the living space is upstairs and bedrooms are on the ground floor, this is one of very few modern design houses to use thatch within the UK.
With underfloor heating throughout and each bedroom having its own bathroom, every luxury has been thought of here, whilst being surrounded by spectacular open countryside and an abundance of walks - ready to explore from the doorstep. A blissful countryside escape, perfect for family, friends or couples wanting lots of space.
Living and eating
Just wow. The open plan kitchen, living and dining area is just divine and lies on the first floor to make the most of the impressive views. With huge vaulted ceiling, full height windows on all sides overlooking the rolling countryside towards the Purbeck Hills, this is a grown-up, sophisticated space for socialising.
The sleek, modern kitchen lies at the far end of the room and is fully equipped with everything you'll need to create culinary masterpieces, including an AEG oven and induction hob, huge American double door fridge/freezer, Dualit appliances and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. In addition, there's seating around the central kitchen island. In addition, there's a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer and sink.
The dining table, which comfortably seats eight, lies in the centre of the room - the perfect spot for decadent dinner parties and leisurely breakfasts.
At the other end you'll find the wonderful sitting space with sumptuous grey velvet sofas, TV, Bluetooth soundbar and glass doors that open out onto a sunny terrace, bringing the outside in on summer days. There's an additional seating area in the overhanging glass box - a perfect spot for quiet chats, reading or simply to gaze at the gambolling horses below.
Children's play area
Leading off the ground floor hallway there is a fabulous play area for children to watch their own TV, challenge each other on the PlayStation or just play board games or read a book, leaving the grown-ups to relax upstairs!
Sleeping and bathing
There are three beautiful bedrooms to choose from, all on the ground floor and with views out towards the Purbeck Hills. The first bedroom, resplendent in navy and gold, has a sumptuous king size bed, vintage chest of drawers, plenty of hanging space for clothing, velvet chair and a television. The en suite to this room has a deep bathtub for two and a large walk in shower.
The second bedroom boasts a zip-and-link bed, meaning it can be made up as a super king bed or twins, depending on your need. In calming shades, it has plenty of storage space, chair plus a shower room right next door.
The third 'master' bedroom is light and airy with a double aspect view of the Purbeck Hills and the garden and has a king size bed, ample wardrobe space with walk-in closet, TV. green velvet chair, dressing table and an en suite shower room.
All beds come swathed in luxurious bedding and linens to ensure a blissful nights' sleep, and each en suite has a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
The garden is just idyllic - your own private Eden. Gorgeously landscaped, this is a wonderful space to live in during fair weather, with a dining table, eight chairs and a barbeque for alfresco meals, whilst you'll also find bistro tables and chairs on the balcony. There are loungers to relax on in the back garden, whilst there's a delicious hot tub on the decking area - perfect for star gazing at night or out towards the Purbeck Hills.
Setting
A short stroll away is the 17th century Lulworth Castle, today home to re-enactments and the famous Camp Bestival - a family-friendly music festival held every July. The festival takes place from the 25th - 28th July 2024. Please note that the festival is in close proximity to the property and if you require any further information, don't hesitate to get in touch with us in the office.
Please note that Lulworth is located near an army camp, and sometimes they practice manoeuvres at different times of the day, although not usually during school holidays or at weekends.
Parking
There is private and off-road parking, plus a secure garage where you can store bikes and outdoor gear.

Babies are very welcome, a highchair and travel cot are available on request.
Dogs
One well-behaved, house-trained dog is welcome at Bellevue. A dog bed and bowls are provided and there's even a dedicated doggie shower outside! Please note, so that the bedrooms are kept allergy free for other guests, dogs are strictly not allowed in the bedrooms at Bellevue. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
WiFi
Bellevue has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.
In the Area
Set near the wonderful Dorset coastline, Bellevue is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside and coastline to be found in the UK, just waiting to be explored. Within the hamlet itself you'll find the local pub which serves great food and a charming gift shop. Just a short drive away along the Natural World Heritage site of the Jurassic coast is the iconic Durdle Door, pretty Lulworth Cove and Man O'War beach. The South West Coastal Path is less than one mile from the retreat and a must for walkers. Head east and you'll find the incredible Purbeck Heritage Coast, Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve and the historic market town of Wareham, whilst the mysterious Tyneham village, historic Corfe Castle and the famous steam railway and beaches of Swanage are a short drive away.
