Architectually designed, this modern retreat takes inspiration from its surroundings and heritage, from the Purbeck stone building and thatched roof to the immense glass frontage to ensure you only get the best views of the unspoilt Dorset countryside and Natural World Heritage site. With an upside-down approach meaning the living space is upstairs and bedrooms are on the ground floor, this is one of very few modern design houses to use thatch within the UK. With underfloor heating throughout and each bedroom having its own bathroom, every luxury has been thought of here, whilst being surrounded by spectacular open countryside and an abundance of walks - ready to explore from the doorstep. A blissful countryside escape, perfect for family, friends or couples wanting lots of space.

Living and eating

Just wow. The open plan kitchen, living and dining area is just divine and lies on the first floor to make the most of the impressive views. With huge vaulted ceiling, full height windows on all sides overlooking the rolling countryside towards the Purbeck Hills, this is a grown-up, sophisticated space for socialising.

The sleek, modern kitchen lies at the far end of the room and is fully equipped with everything you'll need to create culinary masterpieces, including an AEG oven and induction hob, huge American double door fridge/freezer, Dualit appliances and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. In addition, there's seating around the central kitchen island. In addition, there's a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer and sink.

The dining table, which comfortably seats eight, lies in the centre of the room - the perfect spot for decadent dinner parties and leisurely breakfasts.

At the other end you'll find the wonderful sitting space with sumptuous grey velvet sofas, TV, Bluetooth soundbar and glass doors that open out onto a sunny terrace, bringing the outside in on summer days. There's an additional seating area in the overhanging glass box - a perfect spot for quiet chats, reading or simply to gaze at the gambolling horses below.

Children's play area

Leading off the ground floor hallway there is a fabulous play area for children to watch their own TV, challenge each other on the PlayStation or just play board games or read a book, leaving the grown-ups to relax upstairs!

Sleeping and bathing

There are three beautiful bedrooms to choose from, all on the ground floor and with views out towards the Purbeck Hills. The first bedroom, resplendent in navy and gold, has a sumptuous king size bed, vintage chest of drawers, plenty of hanging space for clothing, velvet chair and a television. The en suite to this room has a deep bathtub for two and a large walk in shower.

The second bedroom boasts a zip-and-link bed, meaning it can be made up as a super king bed or twins, depending on your need. In calming shades, it has plenty of storage space, chair plus a shower room right next door.

The third 'master' bedroom is light and airy with a double aspect view of the Purbeck Hills and the garden and has a king size bed, ample wardrobe space with walk-in closet, TV. green velvet chair, dressing table and an en suite shower room.

All beds come swathed in luxurious bedding and linens to ensure a blissful nights' sleep, and each en suite has a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

The garden is just idyllic - your own private Eden. Gorgeously landscaped, this is a wonderful space to live in during fair weather, with a dining table, eight chairs and a barbeque for alfresco meals, whilst you'll also find bistro tables and chairs on the balcony. There are loungers to relax on in the back garden, whilst there's a delicious hot tub on the decking area - perfect for star gazing at night or out towards the Purbeck Hills.

Parking

There is private and off-road parking, plus a secure garage where you can store bikes and outdoor gear.

In the Area

Set near the wonderful Dorset coastline, Bellevue is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside and coastline to be found in the UK, just waiting to be explored. Within the hamlet itself you'll find the local pub which serves great food and a charming gift shop. Just a short drive away along the Natural World Heritage site of the Jurassic coast is the iconic Durdle Door, pretty Lulworth Cove and Man O'War beach. The South West Coastal Path is less than one mile from the retreat and a must for walkers, whilst a short stroll away is the 17th century Lulworth Castle, today home to re-enactments and the famous Camp Bestival - a family-friendly music festival held every July. Please note that Lulworth is located near an army camp, and sometimes they practice manoeuvres at different times of the day, although never during school holidays or at weekends. Head east and you'll find the incredible Purbeck Heritage Coast, Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve and the historic market town of Wareham, whilst the mysterious Tyneham village, historic Corfe Castle and the famous steam railway and beaches of Swanage are a short drive away.

A symphony of thatch and glass, this wonderful, country-chic home stay for six lucky people boasts exquisite interiors, breath-taking views, gorgeous gardens and a hot tub.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Bellevue:

Amazing house , perfect condition and a lovely stay. Thank you.

This property is an absolute gem with its stunning location and beautiful interiors. It is perfectly placed to explore the area and relax in when you return. Jacquie goes above and beyond to ensure your stay runs smoothly. Bellevue is stunning and the marketing pictures (which are excellent) somehow don’t seem to capture this delightful property and don’t therefore do it justice.

Would love to return again.

Wow wow wow not enough words to say just how fantastic this cottage is, we will definitely be returning and would give 11 of 10 if able. The beautiful cottage is amazing, location perfect and Jacquie the host outstanding we really didn’t want to leave this hidden gem.

Beautiful house with a great interior. We loved the views from the living area.

Beautiful property in a great location, we loved it!

We had a wonderful stay in this very beautiful house

Such a fabulous holiday cottage, clean, modern and in the best location for exploring! Everything was perfect! Would definitely stay here again.

A quirky, upside down house in a fantastic location, with a great pub less than 200 yards away and a castle around the corner. What's not to like?

We had a lovely stay at Belluevue. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the views from the upstairs living space are fantastic. A great location as well for days out

Fantastic cottage in lovely location - very quiet but close to amenities . We had a great multi-generational holiday. Lulworth castle worth checking out for the outdoor games and woodland playground for the kids as it is within easy walking distance. Village pub ( Weld Arms) also excellent for food and good value. Would thoroughly recommend as a family holiday destination. Owners also took the time to ensure that everything was ok for us which was really appreciated.

Fantastic place, was even better than the photos!

The most beautiful house and setting, we were completely spoiled, a perfect holiday after 12 months of COVID 19 it was just the tonic.

Amazing retreat, window views were stunnng, garden area spacious and near to local pubs and the coast - highly recommended

The house and location are fantastic. This was a luxury stay in a beautiful part of Dorset we won’t forget. We will certainly be back again in the future!

Absolutely stunning!! Such a gorgeous house. The local pub was great. Everyone was so accommodating & the food brilliant. We definitely recommend! Enjoy!!

Bellevue is a wonderful property! The owners have really thought of everything. The location was perfect for us being in a really quiet location yet so close to the stunning Dorset coastline. Coming back to underfloor heating and a bubbling hot tub was just perfect after a wild, wintery walk along the coast! Would definitely recommend eating in the Weld Arms which is a few minutes walk away.

Despite bad weather, we had a very good week in this smart and comfortable cotttage.

Wonderfully relaxing and ideally located to explore Lulworth Castle & Cove, Durdle Door, Chesil Beach & Corfe Castle. We really enjoyed the hot tub to relax in after a day and open plan layout with views of neighbouring fields.

We had a great week at Bellevue. The house is stunning and really is as good as it looks in the pictures. The living area upstairs is super stylish and we loved the open plan kitchen. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and beautifully decorated. You are surrounded by panoramic countryside views and we were spoilt for choice for spots to sit and relax and watch local wildlife (we regularly saw deer!). The setting is idyllic and so tranquil. We did lots of local walking. You can easily access the coastal path from the fields nearby and Lulworth castle also has lovely grounds that you can walk to. Bellevue is the perfect base. We would definitely recommend. We also loved the fact that our dog was welcome. Thanks to Jacquie and Don and also Boutique Home Stays for making our holiday so special!

This property is beyond amazing! The interior is just superb and the location is also fabulous.
