The Strawberry Thief, named after the designer William Morris's most famous print design, is a gorgeous end of terrace retreat for four, deep in the rolling Dorset countryside. Nestled in oodles of outdoor space, this pretty, fudge-coloured cottage is just lovely on the inside too. With a real focus on mid-century design, the decor is thoughtfully chosen, with fabulously iconic pieces throughout from the Eames dining chairs to the antique single bed. There's even a vintage Crossley record player and a selection of vinyl! It's also a great location to explore Dorset and Somerset, being so close to the border, with brilliant walks on your doorstep - perfect for long doggie walks.

Special 'Just for Two' rate

A special 'Just for Two' rate applies outside of school holidays, peak weeks, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year. At The Strawberry Thief the discount is 10%. This is on the basis that only the master bedroom is used during your stay.

The lovely sitting area is swathed in honey-rich polished floorboards with a huge wood burning stove for cooler months. With stylish-yet-comfy seating, beautiful lighting and simple decor, this is an exquisite room for relaxation after a busy day, preferably with a glass of something delicious in hand. There's a television with Freeview plus a DVD player for when you want a movie night or two.

Eating

The kitchen-come-breakfast room is a great space with a fab cherry wood dining table with Eames chairs at its heart - ideal for get-togethers. There's a Smeg oven plus all the necessities to cook up a storm in the kitchen, plus a Nespresso machine for coffee-lovers and a Bluetooth speaker for when you want to cook along to some cracking tunes. In addition, there's a separate dining room snugly tucked away in a duck-egg blue room for cosy meals together.

Sleeping

There are three luxurious bedrooms, with the master bedroom offering a king size bed, lovely stained wooden floors, pretty seating (perfect for reading a book) and bags of room. The second bedroom has a double bed with velvet bed frame and is cosier in feel, whilst the third bedroom has a unique antique single bed and reading table - perfect as a day bed or for a little one.

Bathing

The gorgeous, spacious bathroom has both a lovely vintage-style freestanding bath and a monsoon shower - perfect to help you wake or for a good wallow at the end of a day's exploring.

Outside space

The Strawberry Thief comes with bags of outdoor space - perfect for the summer months. There's plenty of seating on the patio and a dining table for those lazy summer al fresco meals.

In the Area

Being close to the Somerset border and not too far from Wiltshire, there are lots to do on your doorstep. Sherborne Castle and Abbey are close by and absolutely beautiful - the castle dates from 1594 and was built by Sir Walter Raleigh, whilst the gardens were created by Capability Brown in 1753. The abbey was originally a Saxon cathedral and is one of England's most beautiful churches. Longleat Safari Park, Bath, Stonehenge, the Fleet Air Museum, Lyme Regis and Bridport are all within an easy distance.

This tucked-away retreat lies deep in the rolling Dorset countryside and comes with a huge garden, wood burner and fabulous interiors. It's dog friendly too...

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Strawberry Thief:

Strawberry Thief cottage is an incredibly relaxing and comfortable place to stay, close to nature and within easy reach of the excellent local pub as well as Sherborne. Teals farm shop was also an excellent find at nearby South Cadbury.

Lovely property, totally private and peaceful.

Ideal for a quiet getaway for a few days with very good places to eat within easy reach and lots of interesting places to visit all in lovely countryside

A lovely cottage in a great location for peace and quiet and amazing country walks, but with an excellent local pub in short walking distance. Good for exploring local towns and villages from too.

'The Strawberry Thief is such a cute little cottage, perfect location for lovely walks, even in the pouring rain. So close to the Queens Arms too, which would recommend for a drink stop after an 8.5 mile walk. Thank you Emma & David for letting us stay' - October 2020

'We had great time at The Strawberry Thief. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean. There were several thoughtful details and we felt welcomed. The cottage was lit up and warm when we arrived. The WiFi was excellent. Other details such as chargeable torch, nibbles, milk, butter, eggs & bread and bubbly, lovely candles, were all appreciated! Stephen & Peter, the neighbours, were very friendly. The suggested restaurants and pubs were spot on. Thank you.' - December 2018
