With parts dating back to the 1500's, this wonderful retreat tucked away in a pretty Cotswold village is just what you need if you're looking for a getaway that's a few beats slower than usual fast-paced life. With warm, limestone walls, step through the door and you'll find an astonishingly pretty bolthole in the palest tones throughout, whilst original features such as the immense fireplace, beamed ceiling, mullion windows and stone floors. You will feel like you're a part of living history. There are three bedrooms and three shower rooms, making this ideal for couples, small families or friends travelling together. The location is spot-on for exploring the very best of the Cotswolds, from Cheltenham to Cirencester and beyond.

Lower occupancy discount

A special lower occupancy rate applies outside of peak times. At Dovecote, the discount for up to four guests is 10% and at this rate, all rooms in the main house will be available for you. The annex will be excluded.

The discount is calculated on the availability and booking page, if you have any queries please don't hesitate to get in touch on 01872 553 491 or email enquiries@boutique-retreats.co.uk.

Living

The exquisite sitting room is resplendent in pale, calming shades with original beams and the large inglenook fireplace complete with a cosy wood burner, the feature point of the room. Observant folk can spot the 'witches marks' which date back to the 1500's. These were made to protect the house from witches and stop them coming to the cottage down the chimney and through windows and doors - fascinating! You can also find the marks on the mullion windows on the ground and first floor. Today, you'll find two sumptuous sofas to relax on after a days' exploring, a pretty window seat to gaze out of and a Smart TV with subscriptions to Netflix, Disney+ and a Bose sound system for your favourite tunes.

Eating

Budding and experienced chefs alike will just adore the pretty kitchen with simple yet stunning white cupboards, quartz worktops and porcelain handmade English tiles that contrast beautifully with the original stone floor which dates to the 1500s. The mullion window with window seat and linen cushions is a great place to sit and relax whilst dinner is on. The kitchen is fully stocked with a fan oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the other essentials needed to rustle up meals and snacks. There's also a Nespresso coffee machine for morning pick-me-ups. A washer/dryer can be found in the back hallway.

The pretty dining table easily seats six and it's the ideal spot for celebrations and family get-togethers alike.

Sleeping and bathing

There are three exquisite bedrooms to choose from at Dovecote.

The master bedroom with a king size bed and a quirky beamed ceiling is simply delightful. You'll find a stunning en suite shower room in soft grey and blue hues with a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

The oh-so-romantic second bedroom is just divine with a White Company king size four-poster bed, window seat and gorgeous rustic hanging space. Just next door, you'll find a gorgeously white-bricked shower room.

In a self-contained annex, the third bedroom is a divine space filled with natural light, promising blissful slumbers after days spent roaming the dreamy villages of the Cotswolds. You'll find a double bed and two bedside tables, and an occasional stool. Additionally, this room benefits from an elegant en suite with a shower.

All beds come swathed in 500 thread count White Company Egyptian cotton bedding and anti-allergy pillow to ensure a blissful night's sleep. For moments of pampering, each bathroom comes complete with Elemis toiletries and fluffy white robes.

Outdoor space

The bijoux south facing courtyard garden is just the perfect spot to relax in, whether it's for an early morning coffee stop listening to the birds or drinking sundowners as the sun lowers, nestled in the comfy seating, surrounded by flowers and the golden glow of the limestone walls - just perfect!

In the Area

Located pretty much in the heart of the Cotswolds, Little Rissington is a gorgeous village of golden limestone cottages, one of the more hidden away spots compared to its more well-known neighbours. The chocolate-box pretty village of Bourton-on-the-Water (known as 'the Venice of the Cotswolds') is less than a mile away and boasts plenty to do such as Birdland Park and Gardens, the pretty Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum and Cotswold Perfumery. Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park (of BBC Countryfile fame) is just ten minutes' away whilst further afield you'll find the Cotswold Wildlife Park and gardens, the pretty villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford and Moreton-in-Marsh. The unmissable Daylesford Farm Deli is only 10 minutes' drive through beautiful Cotswolds countryside. Larger places such as the gorgeous Roman town of Cirencester and Regency Cheltenham Spa are well worth a visit. Other places of note include the impressive Blenheim Palace, Chedworth Roman Villa, Chastleton House and The Rollright Stones.

Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds sits our 16th century dog friendly cottage, brimming with character and offering luxurious living for up to six guests.
