With parts dating back to the 1500's, this wonderful retreat tucked away in a pretty Cotswold village is just what you need if you're looking for a getaway that's a few beats slower than usual fast-paced life. With warm, limestone walls, step through the door and you'll find an astonishingly pretty bolthole in the palest tones throughout, whilst original features such as the immense fireplace, beamed ceiling, mullion windows and stone floors. You will feel like you're a part of living history. There are three bedrooms and three shower rooms, making this ideal for couples, small families or friends travelling together. The location is spot-on for exploring the very best of the Cotswolds, from Cheltenham to Cirencester and beyond.

The exquisite sitting room is resplendent in pale, calming shades with original beams and the large inglenook fireplace, the feature point of the room. Observant folk can spot the 'witches marks' which date back to the 1500's. These were made to protect the house from witches and stop them coming to the cottage down the chimney and through windows and doors - fascinating! You can also find the marks on the mullion windows on the ground and first floor. Today, you'll find two sumptuous sofas to relax on after a days' exploring, a pretty window seat to gaze out of and a Smart TV with Netflix and a Bose sound system for your favourite tunes.

Budding and experienced chefs alike will just adore the pretty kitchen with simple yet stunning white cupboards, quartz worktops and porcelain handmade English tiles that contrast beautifully with the original stone floor which dates to the 1500s. The mullion window with window seat and linen cushions is a great place to sit and relax whilst dinner is on. The kitchen is fully stocked with a fan oven, conduction hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the other essentials needed to rustle up meals and snacks. A washer/dryer can be found in the back hallway.

The pretty dining table easily seats six and it's the ideal spot for celebrations and family get-togethers alike.

There are three exquisite bedrooms to choose from. The oh-so-romantic master bedroom is just divine with a White Company king size four-poster bed, window seat and gorgeous rustic hanging space. The second bedroom is equally beautiful with a king size bed, beamed ceiling, and unique space for storing clothes. The second bedroom has its own shower-room en-suite. Bedroom three is a self contained annex with a double bed and shower room. All beds come swathed in 500 thread count White Company Egyptian cotton bedding and anti-allergy pillow to ensure a blissful night's sleep.

There are three shower-rooms, (two of which are en-suite) - each have a shower, sink, loo and heated towel rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

The bijoux south facing courtyard garden is just the perfect spot to relax in, whether it's for an early morning coffee stop listening to the birds or drinking sundowners as the sun lowers, nestled in the comfy seating, surrounded by flowers and the golden glow of the limestone walls - just perfect!

There is private, off road parking for two cars in the barn yard.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Dovecote:

The cottage is beautiful, light and airy but full of character but is in a perfect location for the Cotswolds but not in a high tourist position .

Superbly well equipped kitchen - very comfortable beds- beautiful interior/furnishings/linen-liked the towelling robes! - easy parking. The Welcome Basket/bottle of was lovely! Lovely private outside area! We absolutely loved this cottage/retreat!

I would definitely recommend Dovecote.

It is beautiful, extremely comfortable and well equipped.

A beautiful cottage, with lovely extra touches like towelling gowns. We all had a fantastic stay.

Very charming property in a lovely location. Provisions including a beautiful cake were there for us on our arrival. Housekeeping staff were very helpful when contacted. Would recommend this property as a good base to explore the surrounding villages of the Cotswolds

We had a wonderful stay at Dovecote and will definitely return. Straight out of the pages of an interiors magazine, it was stylish and beautifully presented, but also very clean and comfortable. Lovely touches like the bath robes, toiletries and basic supplies just added to the overall experience

A wonderful cottage of great character which has been expertly interiorly designed.

We had such a lovely stay! The Cottage was beautiful and the owner very friendly and always on hand if we had any queries or needed help.

Beautiful cottage, beautiful location

Spotlessly clean, beautiful interiors and a hugely helpful host who volunteered lots of local information and thoughtful extras. Would not hesitate to recommend!
