Set in the wonderful village of Slad, made famous by novelist Laurie Lee, you're not far from cool, alternative Stroud and the majesty of the Cotswolds on your doorstep, there's plenty to see and do, and if you have a four-legged friend with you there's bags of walks on your doorstep too, as well as a brilliant pub just a seven-minute walk away.
Living and dining
There's plenty of living space, making this a perfect retreat for those wanting their own space to spread out. The formal sitting and dining room lies on the first floor and is a calm, peaceful space. With dual aspect windows and light colours throughout, it's a cheerful spot and the two wool sofas, large wood burning stove, 49-inch Smart TV, Alexa controlled audio streaming and Sonos sound system means it's just perfect whether you want a film night or just to relax and chat. At one end you'll find the dining table which comfortably seats six and lies just across the hallway from the kitchen for easy reach.
On the same floor you'll also find a separate study with desk and occasional chairs, just in case you need to catch up on some essential emails or maybe to start writing that book you've always dreamed of.
On the lower ground floor there's a small library which connects all the bedrooms and lies next to the garden room. Here you'll find plenty of reading inspiration, including early edition hardback copies of Laurie Lee's books which are set in Slad.
In the garden room you'll find an informal space with a gorgeous botanical theme, including a five meter-long hanging wall garden and impressive bifold doors which open out on to the garden and the stunning country view. Inside, there's a three seater sofa and ottoman for lounging, further seating for four, drinks bar and 49-inch Smart TV and Sonos sound beam.
Eating
An absolute dream for foodies, the kitchen is not only oh-so-stylish, it's also jam-packed with all the appliances you'll need to rustle up the perfect feast for your loved ones. A Sebastian Cox designer kitchen by deVol, it boasts zinc worktops, Rangemaster range cooker with two ovens and five hobs, integrated Bosch dishwasher, American fridge freezer, wine fridge and all the other essentials including a Dualit bean-to-cup coffee machine. There's even underfloor heating to keep toes warm during cooler months!
In addition, there's a separate utility room on the lower ground level which has a Bosch combination washer dryer and a heated clothes rack for drying.
Sleeping and bathing
All three bedrooms can be found on the lower ground floor and are en suite. The master bedroom is just heavenly with dual aspect windows overlooking a canopy of trees and boasts a super king bed and a lounge area with a stylish sofa and coffee table - perfect for when you want a moment's peace on your own with your favourite book. The en suite is super-stylish with a freestanding bathtub and huge walk in shower.
The second bedroom is a peaceful escape with exposed, golden-hued Cotswold stone wall, comfy king-sized bed and a lovely view of the rustling trees, to help you drift off to sleep after a day's exploring. The en suite is a wonderful shower room.

In the Area
Located in one of the country's most celebrated areas of natural beauty, there's plenty to see and do in this wonderful part of the UK. The Slad Valley is a stunning area of natural beauty, made famous by Cider with Rosie novelist Laurie Lee - in fact, you can find the seat in which he used to sit on at The Woolpack Inn, just a seven minute walk away and he's buried in the local church. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way is a lovely five mile walk, whilst The Laurie Lee Wood is three hectares of ancient woodland, perfect for exploring.
Stroud is a great little town with an alternative vibe and a brilliant Saturday market - the ideal spot to pick up some delicious local produce to take back to The Covert. You don't have to get in a car to find a watering hole either - From Bath to Cheltenham, Cirencester to Stow-on-the-Wold, the Cotswolds offers everything, from pretty market villages and stately homes to arboretums, spa towns with fabulous shops and of course endless walking opportunities, you're spoilt for choice.
