Upstairs, a super king bedroom resides, with a quaint walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite shower room. Outside, you’ll find a darling courtyard, perfect for golden days and dining alfresco. Almond Cottage is ideally situated to explore charming Bakewell by foot, taking in the historic sandstone buildings, medieval bridge and cobbled courtyards. Famed for its delicious sweet treats, discover an array of cosy tea rooms and bakeries, whilst the award-winning Restaurant Lovage and The Rutland Arms reside nearby for an exquisite fine dining experience. Promising elegance in abundance, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach by car, with breathtaking gardens and exquisite interiors. Chatsworth Farm Shop is well worth visiting too, serving fresh produce from the Chatsworth Estate. Living
Radiating country cottage charm, a small step leads into the inviting living space where curated corners and elegant interior features are endlessly romantic. A wood burning stove is set within a rustic inglenook fireplace, with two comfortable linen sofas either side to welcome cosy moments in the cooler months. For entertainment, you’ll find a Samsung Frame Smart TV and a Roberts Smart Radio, plus an assortment of board games and books to while away your evenings.
Eating and dining
Cosy and characterful, the kitchen and dining space is designed in calming tones, beautifully complementing the exposed limestone hearth set above the sink. Uncover all you’ll need to prepare light lunches and starry-eyed suppers for two, with an integrated fridge freezer, an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, microwave, Kitchen Aid Nespresso coffee machine, a blender, and also a washer/dryer.
Perfectly positioned beside the window, savour slow mornings at the breakfast bar, promising the dreamiest setting for your first latte of the day.
Sleeping and bathing
A blissful space for moments of rest, the spacious bedroom resides on the first floor. Dressed in sumptuous linens, with cushions and throws in dusky pink hues, a super king bed promises total tranquillity, whilst the enchanting feature fireplace is a beautiful addition to this space. Nestled behind a cottage door, uncover the walk-in wardrobe, with hanging space for storing belongings and a dressing table.
Beside the bedroom, lies the light-filled ensuite shower room, complete with a large walk-in shower with a rainfall head and handheld attachment, plus a dual vanity sink. There is also a heated towel rail to keep towels fluffy and warm.
Outdoor space
Step outside to discover a pretty courtyard, with an outdoor dining area, and a sheltered seating space perfect for shaded moments on sun dappled days. There's also a barbeque for alfresco feasting in the summer seasons, or cosy up with champagne cocktails beneath the festoon lights as dusk falls.
Babies and children
Babies are most welcome at Almond Cottage. A travel cot and highchair are available on request.
Dogs
Almond Cottage is a dog-friendly retreat welcoming one small/medium sized dog. Dog bowls and a dog bed are provided, and for washing muddy paws, you will find a hose outdoors. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
Parking
Pay and display parking can be found nearby in the market square, approximately 300m from the retreat. Free on-street parking is available on a first come first serve basis outside of the property and neighbouring streets between 6pm – 8am.

Discover the delights of this chocolate-box town, with its historic sandstone buildings, cobbled streets and medieval bridge spanning the River Wye. Uncover independent boutiques, tea rooms and bakeries, where you’ll find the sweetest gifts and delicious treats, including the famed Bakewell pudding. For award-winning fine dining, The Rutland Arms resides just moments from Almond Cottage, whilst the Michelin Guide recommended Restaurant Lovage is within easy reach by foot too. For a traditional pub experience, The Manners is within walking distance, and for stone baked pizzas and craft ales, Thornbridge Brewery is also worth visiting, and is less than a mile away. A little further afield, yet still just 10-minutes by car, visit Fischer’s Hotel for the ultimate fine dining experience.
