Setting
Meadowsweet enjoys a quiet rural setting in a small hamlet, so as there are other residential properties in the vicinity, we ask our guests to respect our neighbour's peace and privacy and not to play excessive or loud music inside or outside the retreat. We kindly ask that you be particularly considerate between the hours of 10pm to 9am.
Outdoor space
The farmhouse has a formal garden to the front, and lawned areas to the rear, perfect for children to play on, games and for your dog to run about. There's a spacious gravelled area to the back of Meadowsweet where there's a large teak table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining during warmer weather, along with a large Weber gas barbeque. In addition, there are teak steamer loungers and a garden bench for those days when you just want to lounge at home.
You're also free to explore the extensive gardens to the rear of the farmhouse and to use the tennis court and lovely west-facing outdoor heated seating area that captures the last of the afternoon sun. Of course, a farmstead wouldn't be complete without a few animals, but don't worry they will be looked after by the owners and their helpers, so you may see them tending to the pet sheep, hens and farm cat, as well as maintaining the gardens and vegetable patch.
Parking
There is plenty of off road, private parking.

Meadowsweet is delighted to welcome babies and children. A travel cot, highchair and stair gate can be provided on request.
Dogs

In the Area
The Mendip Hills are just a short drive away and a must-do; the walking here is fantastic, and you'll witness the most beautiful views. Wookey Hole Caves, with over 60,000 years of history and Cheddar Gorge, a limestone gorge set in the Mendip Hills, are both wonderful natural landmarks and well worth a visit. Glastonbury is also nearby and a must-see for the Tor, Abbey and Sacred Well. The Newt in Somerset is a must for that special meal or to visit the amazing gardens. The city of Wells has a beautiful cathedral and a fab market. Bruton is a lovely little town just fifteen minutes away where there are some brilliant places in to eat, including At The Chapel (who also have a fantastic bakery) and Roth Bar & Grill. There are lots of independent shops, two excellent pubs and a thriving community - there's always something going on. The famous Hauser & Wirth gallery set in a beautifully restored 18th century farm, just outside Bruton, is a real treat for art lovers. The market town of Frome, half an hour away, has a famous and very popular artisan market on the first weekend of each month, with the added temptation of designer, vintage, and craft shops in cobbled St Catherine's Hill. The Roman city of Bath is a 50-minute drive away and great to visit during longer stays, whilst the Dorset coast is just over an hour away by car. All this just under three hours' drive or train journey from London!
For younger ones, Longleat, with its lions and safari park, is just 20 miles away and a great day out, and for those who enjoy gardens the world-famous National Trust gardens at Stourhead 17 miles away are a must.
For the more adventurous, we've teamed up with Fly Away Balooning, a hot air balloon company who will provide a balloon trip from the farmhouse, subject to weather conditions. What better way to enjoy the peace of the stunning rolling Somerset countryside, and, winds permitting, the Glastonbury Tor and private view of the festival site!
